My prescription was -8.5 in my left eye. My right eye has some damage from a retna hemorrhage about 10 years ago. My right retina was separating from the back of my eye and required emergency surgery. It recovered to the point I can still see but not real clear. My left eye developed a Cataract and had to to have the lens replaced. This is the miracle moment. I can see my phone at 8-10 inches where before it was 4-6 inches. Now I can reasonably watch TV without my glasses. I will have to get new lenses so I can see clearly but compared to what I had before, I can see, relatively, clearly now. I don't have to read the newspaper at 4-6 inches.

I am near sighted. I always take my glasses off if I have to read, draw or am on my phone in this 30cm distance from my face because it actually hurts my eyes to focus through my glasses (that makes me see far) only to end up reading close.

Hi Antonio! Just a quick question I’m myopic and been wearing glasses since grade school, somehow my left eye is getting better I would say. By any chance , could my eyes be healed and get a 20/20 vision by taking supplements and eye exercises without undergoing ay surgery? I know my questions is quite funny, I’m just curious 🧐 lol

If I feel more comfortable without my glasses for reading on phone, computer and books is it find not to wear them? I use my glasses when watching tv. If I don't wear my glasses at other times (except for tv, or seeing far distances) am I damaging my sight?.

If your myopia is getting worse it’s probably not the best idea to take them off on the computer. If it has stopped already it shouldn’t be a problem doing that

Dr. I’ve been myopic since my teens. I’m 46 now. Started off at -0.50 and -0.75. My highest was -4.25 and -4.50 at 34. Now, I’m -3.00 and -3.50. Is that a possibility, dropping prescription? Apart from that, it’s the first time I learn about such a comprehensive relation between diopters and distance. I’ve just measured. OE= 0.30, OD= 0.28cm. Many thanks!
@AntonioTheOptom
@AntonioTheOptom 3 жыл бұрын
Prescriptions can fluctuate but you’ll find that closer to 45 as the lens hardens the prescription may actually decrease. Using the working distance to measure the level of myopia can be a useful tool to measure the Rx but as I mentioned earlier as the prescription can fluctuate for some it’s not a commonly used method in the clinic 😁👍
@OneMoreLayman

@@AntonioTheOptom Thanks for taking the time, Dr! I’m glad to learn that some dropping is a possibility. When you say fluctuate, are there cases myopia might return higher after 40’s? I ask this because my great-ant had severe myopia till after her 60’s (-14/-16). I hit -4.50 when I was 39, then the drop came 42 on. Best regards,

Wow! I did the calculation and got a measuring tape and it’s accurate! I’m -7.50 in one eye and 13cm is accurate to where I can see. A little over 5 inches away; that’s how close I need my phone. But the thing is when I wear glasses, I struggle to read my phone if closer than 55cm/21.75in. At that point I can’t even reach it. So that’s why I always have to take my glasses off if looking at my phone for more than a couple minutes. But I have low vision in my other eye that can’t be corrected which might contribute.

Since I likely had a fairly low prescription at that age (-3 or less) would reading WITH my glasses hav3 made my vision worse than not using them since I would not have needed them at this point? So, why as a near-sighted person who is getting older, I can't see close up anymore with my regular prescriptions on? I used to be able just fine, but now I guess I need bifocals. What in the eye is changing, making my eyes no be able to adjust for close viewing? I hate bifocals, so I just now raise my single-vision glasses to read anything small print. I also bought a pair of "mid range" glasses for computer work.

@@ummesanjida8421 you said you wore them while using the phone now you say you didnt wear them. Distance glasses are needed to be worn for distances. Like the video shows, wear them from the distance the image becomes unclear, otherwise the eyes have to compensate for the minus lenses and your eyes will grow even longer, causing myopia to aggravate. With -1.25 you need to wear glasses while driving, reading the blackboard in classes, in the cinema.
