The very fact that this still flies is a testament to the build-quality, versatility of the aircraft structure and its systems as well as the skills and ingenuity of the engineers and operators running it.

SUPERB ! (It seems that Both pilots have boths hands at the yokes simultaneously. Is it the normal flight technique for the Aircraft? In most Aircrafts, the Pilot Flying have the hand in the control and other hands in the throttles, and the Other pilots monitor the flight )

Flying a late 1950's airplane in 2016. What a treat!!A long manual control landing. The pilot sitting in the middle is the auto throttle. The captain, I bet he suffered from shoulder muscular spasm from that long flight. The copilot, although very concentrated, seems to be very careless of what is going around him.One crew member only speaks English. the others, speak pure Russian. No Ukrainian. ... just forget about the blue/yellow flag.The airplane is Soviet. heavy, mighty, primitive, and yet still very efficient.Hat down.

I'm not sure - does the An-22 have hydraulically operated flight controls or are they purely human-operated? (Not sure about the English terms...) If the controls are directly controlled, without any support, you'll need two strong men to fly the aircraft... watch old movies, men flying the DC-3, bombers, etc... always two guys wrestling the controls.
@4crevis
@4crevis 7 жыл бұрын
realulli You could be right there with the Human operated bit. If it's just cables and pulleys and no servos it would be an absolute nightmare i would have thought.

Are you baned in Wiki? )) These large aircraft cant be operated without boosters, AN-22 has Two-cell irreversible boosters!

Basically it comes from the old days of soviet flying school, 1 pilot is flying while the other is "securing" the flight engineer is on the throttles.

I believe that for safety the copilot just follow the commander actions, if the controls gets heavy for some reason there 4 arms on it.

@Bohdan_Medvedskyy 6 жыл бұрын
Aircraft control is double, mixed. In the fuselage, the wiring is rope, and in the wing and tail plumage - rigid of duraluminic rods. The control system of rudders and ailerons includes two-chamber irreversible hydraulic amplifiers, automatic loaders with electromechanisms of the trimmer effect. It is possible to switch to manual servo steering when the booster system fails. There is the possibility of locking the rudders, ailerons, flaps and the mechanism of turning the wheels of the front pillar when the aircraft is parked. Something like this:)
