Hi guys, just a quick point. There will be an Xbox One version of the app soon, they are currently getting it re-submitted.

Good review dude! I've been meaning to take a look at Antstream for a while and this told me basically all I needed to know about it! Love the idea of the challenges as it will actually incentivise you to play all the games on there! Can't see Nintendo putting it on the Switch though, stranger things have happened, but I think they'd potentially see it as a threat to the Nintendo Online games library and eshop neo-geo games.

This looks fantastic. I'll be looking forward to being able to play this on one of my consoles. I'm especially excited for the challenges and achievements, what a great way to breathe new life into old games. Also looking forward to revisiting some classic Spectrum titles.

If only Nintendo could do this with their online service..... Great video as always my friend.

I know I can be pro-active and look it up myself but something it would have been useful to know is how much it costs/will cost and whether you think it's worth the asking price. Good review though :)
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
That’s a good point! I should have brought the pricing up, It’s £9.99 a month or £7.99 if you pay for a year up front. Tbh I think it’s too expensive for what it is. £5 a month would be more reasonable. But I guess it depends how much you’re going to use it in a month as to whether it’s worth it or not for you...

Nah, the non download reason is stupid.. many of us have terabytes of space and ultra fast net.. they should give the option.. in fact it's a silly thing to say when we routinely play 100GB+ games on windows. My worry is input latency as there already is on LCD/modern controller to begin with, I do NOT want more on top, particularly on arcade games.

The selling point would be playing 2--4 player games online, something the retro consoles/computers never offered.
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
That’s a great point! I didn’t think of that as I don’t know anyone who has it at the moment

RetroBreak plus it would be good for live/offline collaboration videos for channels that want to compete, streamed/captured online.

@@RetroUnlim Online multiplayer is on our roadmap. It's a LOT of work but the devs know that it's wanted by the community and it's something that's been discussed many times by the team. As the team grows it is hopefully something we can speed along.

Antstream Arcade an online multiplayer option for 8-bit games (Amstrad, spectrum, c64) has been wanted for years for livestream purposes, battles between channels. Kallialia (sp) was good back in the day, so there’s a gap in the market that’s needed, plus the tubers will be using the product so it’s an instant advertisement 👍
@AntstreamArcade4 жыл бұрын
@@RetroUnlim Agreed! Hopefully it's something we can put in place this year so watch this space! I honestly don't have an ETA on it but I do pass on to the team all requests as we really want this to be a community-led project. Some things just take a bit more work.

So this is to do with there work with Retroarch?
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
Not sure, that might be what they’re using for the emulation? I can ask if you want to know for sure?

@@RetroBreak I would not mind that Mate
@AntstreamArcade4 жыл бұрын
@@davidpalmer5967 No. We haven't worked with RetroArch at all. This is a project of passion from the team over the last few years, who have worked with the IP holders and developed their own code to make this happen. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that’s great to know that you still enjoyed watching even though it’s not something you’re interested in! I must have done something right :D

Not really for me, but I’m not the target audience for this either. I have too many physical retro games to play as it is. And I’m mostly interested in Nintendo and Playstation retro games which I guess would never appear on here anyway? I don’t think the answer to your download question made sense. Couldn’t they just give you the option of downloading specific games that you’re playing at the time? It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
@RetroBreak4 жыл бұрын
I agree that would be better if it was possible! Guess you’d need to have all the emulators installed though but even so the file size wouldn’t be too big? Maybe it’s just easier to have it all on their servers?

Great video and nice review. However I did see another review of this that another youtuber, Retro Gamer Boy, did and it was laggy and froze a couple of times. Personally it is not for me and it's way too expensive for what it is. Essentially it's still emulation. Can just do it myself!! Also the fact this is still not available at present for PS4 is not good. Sent an email to Antstream a while ago sking would this be on PS4 and they said it will happen. Still not happened now so I've lost interest. I know Antstream said they are not a retailer so they cannot actually sell the games but if they were able to then I would be interested. As it is, it's not for me.
@garrynorth62694 жыл бұрын
With the price and terrible lag and crashes its unusable, plus no nintendo or sega games. You can do all of this yourself for free.
@pjmlfc054 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Why pay for emulation when you can just do it yourself for free.
@Terkzorr3 жыл бұрын
It's surprising this service even still exists after all these years. I just remembered Gamehut's shilling and decided to look this topic up again. I'm guessing tricking lots of morons that don't know emulators exist into paying for streaming 128kb games is pretty profitable. I will stick to my complete Rom collections.
