I have now done queen adoption twice, and been sucesfull both times,. I fed the workers first, and then connected the two tubes together, coverd the workers tube and left them alone for 2 days, and all went well, one happy colony!

Hello again! Glad you like my work :) Yes, due to lower temperatures this year nuptial flights are pretty late and irregular... That being said: The main nuptial flight season in europe starts end of June - so keep your eyes open😉🐜

Can't wait for the fallax video as I keep them as well. I have 1 worker a queen and some larvae, they were more but 4 workers died in hibernation. I love your vids keep up the good work

@@antkeeper_greece2042 If ants don't drink the honey within 2 days you can clean it. Try feeding them in 2 weeks again. Many colonies are hibernating longer this year, because of lower than normal temeratures

Messor is a great choice but as minigunl5 said pheidole are better in my opinion. If you get pheidole a species with more than one queen will grow faster will be more resistant and I believe that they are better

It is. But keep in mind they are parasitic Queens and they are a protected species (hold in captivity forbidden by law) in many countries

You should keep some Pheidole. Idk which species, just try to get one that isn't too small and has decent majors. Also, instead of Messor barbarus you should get a better colored and bigger Messor species.

I found a queen ant on my leg! Crazy but I don't think it has mated yet, like It hasn't rained for like a week, it was flying, and I was just looking at a bunch of ants in my neighborhood and It might have flown onto my leg while I was watching the colony. Should I let it go?

Does it still have wings? I personally would put it in a test tube setup - If it does not lay eggs within 2-3 days I would let it free again

Yes, those are Queen alates - virgin Queens that still need to mate before they can start a colony

My Camponotus nicobarensis queen laid around 4-5 eggs 1 and a half months ago, they still arnt larvae😭 My Camponotus cruentatus queen also has been out of hibernation for 2 months but hasn't laid any eggs and the brood hasnt developed, Any tips? I already tried feeding insects and honey

Just be patient. Queens should start laying eggs and develop them mid-May

Nuptials may be delayed due to bad weather. Good thing is when the temperatures finally rise you won't know which Queen ant to catch first - they fly in numbers! :)
