So... A while back I wrote a crossover fanfic titled Lulu's Bizarre Rebellion. It crossed with Code Geass. The end boss of the second arc? Mao, holding Anubis. Y'know, Mao. The guy that can read a person's mind down to their subconscious. The combination of powers caused Anubis to evolve into The Truth. Capable of instantly adapting to match the capabilities of any foe he was fighting, so long as they were in Mao's telepathy range - and his range was *big*. How did he lose? Well. A power copier was tricked into copying his powers near him. Since Mao cannot stop reading a person's mind, they wound up getting into a feedback loop of reading each other's minds. Until they both keeled over from the pain. Until then though, nobody could do *anything* to him. But yeah, Anubis is way scarier than a lot of people give it credit.

Friendly reminder that Lang Wrangler and his Jumpin' Jack Flash can null gravity, making most stands and stand users ineffective especially since it will eventually suck away all oxygen from their bodies, and essentially has johnny's spinning nail ability except he can shoot whatever objects he loads his wristbands up with, like nuts and bolts. He literally required the main Jojo and one of the most OP stands in the series, Weather Report, to barely beat him.

Since he can phase his blade selectively in order to cut through and around objects, the only reason he lost to Jotaro was because he wasn't expecting him to keep going after being stabbed, otherwise he could have just phased through his fists after he started punching the blade

Another character that would be busted to wield Anubis are most of la squadra, like white album, metallica, or the fishing hook pineapple headed guy. But probably the most cancerous people to get it would be either notorious due to it being immortal and potentially able to catch up to any stand, or the guy who could swim through land. Since when his handler died to the muda, he got extremely creative with how he fought and anubis would only make him even more adaptable. Plus I doubt you could make a sword deaf, so that’s a bonus.

10:01 - Forgetting the context of the fight. The only reason Anubis ever got close to killing Jotaro is because his friend was being held hostage. Same shit as Vegito refraining from killing Buu because he's holding multiple people that are dear to him hostage. 1: Anubis literally called out Jotaro and basically predicted he was thinking that. And called him naïve. Reason being is because he implied holding back would be impossible. He was basically calling him foolish for thinking he was the one in control of the fight. The only reason Jotaro beat him as Kahn was quick thinking. But here Anubis was ready and it actually SCARED Jotaro, a character we rarely see budge. Not to mention Polnareff by himself was actually outpacing Star Platinum. Not Chariot, just Polnareff. Also a terrifying thought is Anubis is the ONLY stand in the whole series to get into close quarter’s combat and win. No other stand has done that, they either exploit it’s range or have a gimmick like Made in Heaven. Anubis flat out said it could take Star Platinum and Jotaro was convinced hr meant it. One thing im not sure about is how Anubis didn’t phase free of Jotaro in the fight when he was broken. When he phased on impulse through a wall. 2. Idk if he could win. But one thing I know for sure is Anubis may be tempted to try if he knew the secret. You forget alot of the reason people fear Dio is they don’t know his stand’s ability. And Dio knows that and desperately want’s to keep it a secret. With an ability like that Anubis wouldn’t be able to learn his power and work around it. While it is questionable if he could win a fight with him there is one fight for sure he’d take. Diavolo. If Polnareff could figure out how to counteract King Crimson, Anubis would hands down.

Anubis honestly is one of my favorites just because of how many Stand "rules" he breaks. Makes anyone who wields him a stand user technically, is his own stand user, lets you have two stands at once, just being one of the oldest stands in the series (who knows, maybe what makes him so odd is he is made of the same meteor metal as the arrows), is technically a visible stand. Just a rather neat tsukumogami reference too.

In order to wield Anubis without being mind-controlled, I think one could develop a strong enough mental fortitude in order to prevent possession, as well as develop with time a bond with Anubis where there is mutual respect, such as the way Soul Reapers bond with their zanpakutō spirits in Bleach. The idea of being able to possess a prior Stand and also add Anubis onto this is intriguing… Does this imply that other Stands can manifest as items? Or that Stands themselves can be “bound” to items by some means? Thoth seemed to take the form of an item, and survived the defeat of its user…does it now exist as independent from a living user in the same way as Anubis? Could Anubis compel a user to reforge itself? That would be intriguing to see. If items can be imbued to a Stand to be wielded as additional Stands, then how many items could one person wield that have individual Stands? How many Stands could one person possess in the JoJo canon? There’s examples like Polnareff adding on Anubis, and you could have pets like Stray Cat as add-ons ( though that counts less as your own Stand and more like a pet under your ownership ). There’s the aforementioned Thoth, but also things like Super Fly, so if you were a Stand User and came across Anubis, and then found yourself trapped in Super Fly, that’d be three different Stands you control… Hm. What else, though? How many Stands can one person possess? It’s a fun thought experiment.

Cheep Trick is another stand you can receive like Super Fly. To broaden the range there’s also sub-stands both naturally occurring like Sheer Heart Attack and Epitaph, as well as the artificial ones like Bites The Dust and Love Train. There’s also the case of DIO stealing Jonathan’s stand directly from his body though that’s limited to vampires. Technically the stands gained through special skills and artifacts like Pearl Jam (cooking) and the corpse parts, are fundamentally distinct from those that people gain naturally like the crusaders so it’s possible that if the requirements for each are met that the user would gain an individual stand for each. This brings the count up to a potential +6 with 4 on the lower end.

They only ever stay with those who weren't strong enough to Awaken their own stands as far as I recall and for those like Jolyne who try to use another disk can only keep it temporarily seemingly because the stand in the disk is at odds with the one inside the user. If that's true then anyone with a stand trying to use a disk could not use it for anything more than say one action without having to immediately re-insert it.

I actually could see adaptation to time manipulation being feasible. Illuso’s spatial manipulation was overcome cleverly by Giorno and Fugo to the point that his demise was delivered semi-blindly. But it would be a hell of a task and he’d probably need near perfect conditions or to pick up something like hamon from fighting Joseph.

In the original JoJo timeline, when DIO took Anubis he actually fought against The World but was defeated by his overwhelming might, especially considering the fact his strength and speed xan just keep increasing, that's why he said "DIO'S stand, The World is far more powerful than I". As for the time stop, yeah Anubis won't be able to adapt to it bcoz he only has strength and speed development and adaptation not the ability to counter anything Plus, when DIO took the sword it's likely Anubis tried mind controlling DIO but I don't think it worked, which led to his dedeat at the overwhelming physical force of The World Anubis could beat Jotaro and Star platinum but not DIO and The World

I actually think it’s not too far fetched to say that Anubis could adapt to time stop. It’s a decent possibility that Anubis could go through some development due to his growth throughout his fights to the point where he can grow to resist other abilities. It’s actually a pretty neat concept to think about.

I always wondered if Anubis was still intact after being in Time Stop would it actually allow the wielder to move in Time Stop? Anyway it's a Stand I see most forget about but remember he can pass through matter and rematerialize. So there's a potential dura neg argument for you crossverse scalers.

One slash to the brain and Dio can't activate the world before he's minced by the followup slashes. All he needs is Dio to be in arms reach with time stop on cooldown and Dio loses. Dio is prone to underestimating his opponents, so thats rather likely to happen.

U also forgot to mention the fact that Anubis’ ability is most likely linked to death itself because when its hilt touched a buncha flies it instantly killed em. So therefore it can be inferred that perhaps if Anubis wasn’t bound to the sword, granting its ability to cut through anything, its ability to kill anything it touches could be a lot more powerful

Since the sword (I'm pr sure since non-stand users can interact with it) is technically a physical object Anubis could of smelted down the sword, turned it into a bunch of rings, and then, take over a bunch of people progressively taking over more powerful and more powerful individuals over time.

Anubis beating The World goes on two ways: A) Anubis scales his speed to the point it breaks into time shennanigans (the same argument for Star Platinum to develop a timestop) B) Gets enough of a read on Dio he can goad him to waste his stopped time and cut his head off during cooldown

Anubis' rapid growth in speed and power and his strategic adaptability make him a major threat to nearly any opponent.

When you think about it, Anubis's ability is kinda like DC's villain Doomsday in that what worked on him once won't work again, period. Though they work differently (Anubis learns and adapts to his opponents, while Doomsday 's body evolves and adapts on a physiological level) the principle behind their powers is the same.

Even in Unofficial games, Anubis has the capacity to be absolutely broken So in a Roblox fan game called Project JoJo, Anubis can take control of whoever touches the sword and can use their abilities/stand as if it were its own. The thing is, sub abilities would stack with both players, so it would be possible to have two sub abilities in one character. Where this goes off the rails is Anubis can have the Vampire sub abilities while the other character has the Hamon sub ability. Free lifesteal from Vampire on EVERY ATTACK, while being immune to the sun from possession. hamon helps to increase attack power as well as have a passive healing as well. So for example, if a Vampire Anubis were to posses a Hamon Tusk Act 4, it would cause some very harsh words to appear in the chat box.

I'm curious about how Anubis could interact with Kars. Since Kars can manipulate his body at a cellular level to the point of creating life, would Anubis be able to possess him, or could Kars physically alter his mind to prevent that?

Imaginr anubis with stength, you could turn the sword into any weapon or object, even a huge ship or something. One minute you think you have a opening and bam, the sword turns into a spear and blocks your attack

If he didn't tell people about his ability he would be insanely broken, able to undo unfavorable results. Also consider that he's likely allowing the people he chooses to remember so they achieve their best state.

Great video! You did get one thing wrong though. Anubis doesn't boost the user's skill in using a sword, as noted by Polnareff when he fought Chaka. Even still, Anubis is still an extremely formidable foe. Also, I'd genuinely wonder, in a what if: How strong would Anubis become if he possessed/was tamed by a master swordsman? Could he beat New Moon Pucci? Diavolo? Any of the strong people in JJBA?

i like to think the reason the stand is able to possess the sword is because either the blade or hilt is made from the same material as the stand arrow, more likely the hilt since the blade would give people stands, i haven't seen any evidence for this other than the hilt & arrow being the same goldish color and having similar ornaments but it makes sense to me
