I helped players in about 40-50 rescue beacons so far and only two of these were such traps. Maybe I was lucky, but most of the times the players putting up beacons are either just new to the game or like to provide fun & immersion to others and themselves. I've made several ingame friends because of rescue beacons, so my feedback to them is generally positive.

My rule of thumb to tell is to check the price. If its 15k its usually one of the automatic ones you send when you get knocked out.

I should also mention that the C8R is a great way to add a "medical facility" to a ship without a med bed as well. Need a med bed in your Hercules M2, C8R has you covered and you can still take vehicles, supplies, and troops with you.

Forgot to mention that the Pisces can fit into other ships and dock there. I have even used the auto-landing feature to align the Pisces in a large 890 Jump, which fits two in its hangar. This ship can therefore be a useful part of multi-crew operations.

It's a very good bunker runner for 1-2 players. For that alone it's a really good in-game buy these days if you're doing ground missions, I have found that most injuries from NPCs are only tier 3 unless you really stand there and take it for an extended time. Love these videos!

This is also a great variant to have if you join one of the huge medical gameplay orgs. I've seen them offering services to players in-verse akin to Cyberpunk 2077's Trauma Team. SWAT Medics trained to extract downed and injured players.

A no regrets staple for any fleet. I love my C8R even though it’s mostly used as a way to heal at any outpost. Even when the injury can’t be fully healed you can stabilise and deal with debilitating side effects then use it to ferry yourself over to a more robust facility.

I love the C8R - bought two (decided to use a CCU before the Avenger Titan price hike). Use them at PO when the drink/food function borks up, while the handy size of the Pisces lets you park the C8R right at a bunker's ramp, so you can tractor NPC bodies straight into the ship. When Raid of Orison was available during 3.18, I used to fly down to Orison (C8R is comparatively fast in atmo) and strafe all the NPCs - you could squeeze a C8R close to a building entrance to shoot at the NPCs inside. You can spawn it at Platinum Bay pads at outpost if you need a medbed, or a fast runabout. Pity I couldn't cram one into my Corsair...

This ship is great. Leave most crew orbiting in the Carrack, fly down to the surface for rescue, take them to the Carrack or a hospital if they need extra care.

Yes I just got my Carrack and its what I was thinking as well ,picked my Carrack up from someone who was selling it a red alert with LTI for 529 a lot of real money but the skin was to much to pass up got the ursa rover and the expedition version of the Anvil C8E Pisces but now will replace with this completes the landing party ship also I have the Drake Buccaneer green goblin for the hager to if a combat mission is needed just fits at an angle in the Carrack hangar.

One of the best bunker ships. Keeps food and drink up, carries a lot of things in the internal storage, has an external compartment to exchange equipment, can land close to bunkers at the entrance or nearby in a ditch that is unreachable for bunker guns, fast in atmo to get to the bunker, great lights to illuminate the landing zone, quick egress through the ramp, internal spae for quick corpse looting, can heal the pesky t3 injuries one tends to pick up in bunkers and medpen supply on claiming if you forgot to bring some. Those would be my points towards the bunker runner.

I think it may be important to note that the C8R does actually fit a 1 SCU container, in a neat spot on the left just as you enter the medical section. This is ideal for bunker missions. The Pisces seems to have been tailor-made for bunker missions. It is by far my favorite ship for that purpose, with its only real competitor being the Cutlass Red. But the Pisces is much more nimble, which enables landing fast and close to the entrance of bunkers. Unless of course when you need ground vehicle support. In that case, the Pisces is far less ideal.

I can say that the C8R is an excellent addition to the Pisces line. It has everything that is great about the Pisces, and fulfills it's role very well. It even has room for a 1 SCU box inside, so makes for an ideal solo mission transport or delivery transport when AA isn't expected.

I have one of these on my account as well as got my wife one because of it having the med bed and the fact they can be called in at platinum bay pads in the event your main ship is destroyed grabbing cargo somewhere.

Awesome review Farrister! I really appreciate the tactful way you handled the issues with griefer players in game, and how this currently makes the solo medical rescue trade pretty much a non starter. The nice thing about the Pisces is that it's still a fine ship for running around in the verse, especially if you change the quantum to something with more range. And if you have friends in the game who need some standby med support for an op, the C8R is maybe not as versatile as the Cutlass Red, but it's much smaller, easier to acquire, and far less expensive to operate. So yes to all you said, but there are lots of ships in the game waiting for a proper game loop, and the C8R is a fine addition to any hangar in the meantime.

@@Farrister Hi Farrister! Your videos are looking really great now in 4K; this one especially looks very cinematographic with the super sharp detail and brightly saturated colors of the C8R Pisces. Your videos have always been well done, but now I'm loving the presentation on the big screen as well! (BTW, any Pisces livery will work on the C8R, so one can maintain a lower profile if desired, by equipping a more subdued livery, such as Nightbreak or Scrubland Camo. If lucky enough to have the 2952 IAE special livery, it's a very sharp looking darker metallic red). Regarding the equipping of the Pisces, your advice to change the shield generator to a FR-66 is a solid one, gaining you a S1 Grade A shield with 1750 pool HP, which is a 17% increase over the standard Shimmer Grade C. Your comment about the Expedition quantum drive is a bit off, I think. If you look at the choices for a S1 quantum drive for the Pisces, the Expedition ranks 10th of 20 options for range, 9th of 20 for efficiency, and 12th of 20 for maximum speed. It's a very average Grade C component with nothing particular to recommend it. There would be two opposing but more appropriate options for a proper quantum drive in the C8R. One is to maximize range, the other to maximize speed. A very popular choice in S1 quantums is the Atlas, which generates the same speed as the Expedition but is more efficient; yielding a 20% increase in range. If one is willing to accept a slower travel speed, one can equip a drive that will double the range of the Expedition. I justify this because stopping to refuel is not difficult but it's also not safe - by stopping the player is exposed to many risks including all those associated with any landing and takeoff, as well as others like a hostile ship boarding or being blown up by any griefer flying an Arrow light fighter. The other appropriate option for a quantum drive would be to choose a high speed, low range unit that will match the emergency response nature of the ship, allowing very rapid arrival for a rescue, while accepting the range limitation. The Beacon is an affordable fast quantum drive that is 70% faster than the Expedition, admittedly with a much shorter range. A fast, short range drive like this might be a great choice for a C8R that's carried inside a larger ship, and will generally be already close to where the action is occurring.

I upgraded my starter Cutter package with the C8R and find it a great fit for bunker running and light package delivery missions. Not only light and nimble but as a smaller framed ship it is easy to maneuver into locations for landing near to even touching many stairs or ramps. For those inclined to go heavy on looting bunkers and sites, you can fit a 1 SCU box or even a 2 SCU box in the back while still being able to squeeze past, when the container is dropped into the mid section of the ship, getting in and out of the ship. Just be sure to walk backward up into the ship so the partition doors open. When visiting bunkers and even stations or ground landing zones I keep an eye out for destroyed ships that may have dropped a free container box. As tractor beams are useable around bunker mission sites, containers are an easy pick up. For mining stations with armistice, the small ship is easy enough to maneuver and push a box out of armistice to load up the box, and around orbital or lagrange space stations it is just a matter of opening the door and maneuvering the ship to back up and collect the box, can be a bit of a touch and go but in zero G you can just get out and push the box on board as well if your not worried about someone sneaking up to jump on your ship when the door is open. One other mission type the ship is good for are search missions at caves, fitting nicely into those caves that accept a small ship and land close to the entrance when they don't. The lights illuminate at a fair distance for a smaller ship out to a range of 1500m picking up land features when the weather conditions permit.

As a bunker runner (amongst other things) I just love the C8R. Only a day or two ago I got a tier3 head wound which impairs vision. A very quick trip to my little red ambulance and I was all better. Revenge was sweet.

I have this ship and really like it for delivery missions ,but you left out a few little things One you not only can heal but it also refills you nutrition and hydration when you are in the bed so as long as you can get back to the ship you can quickly refill your health and food and drink,2nd the medical injectores and food and drink in the storage cabinets refill with every new retrieval or claiming of the ship at present in the game,3rd you can upgrade components on this ship very cheaply its all size one so do it ,1st quantum drive, Atlas drive at Hur-L5 for 17900 AUEC increases your speed to 151951 a little and increases your range a lot from 65.82 to 85.48, 2nd shields Fr-66 at Orison Cousin Crows for 18450 AUEC increases your hp pool to 1725 from 1500,with a regeneration rate of 450 instead of the stock 375 its grade A and its distortion damage hps shut down is 1344 over the shimmer at 917, it is also an option to go( Mirage grade A stealth also at cousin crows for 28600 AUEC but its distortion damage shut down drops to 1039)which when implemented would be a great advantage to this ship because its so low profile and could sneak in and out,3rd Power supply I went with the Slipstream grade A stealth for 18600 AUEC Cousin Crows Orison for when stealth is available in the future this ship only require 1047 power and the slipstream provides 1788 at a fast 1.25 seconds,4th Coolers Zero-rush grade B competition fasted power request time of 3 seconds at New Babbage for 16150 AUEC each there are 2,Next your guns don't think just because you only have two size one's you can't pack a punch, first go Ballistic literally, either 2- 9 series longswords at Port Olisar for 6250 each AUEC that have 240 rounds each and hit with some real alpha/sustained damage of 213/850,compared to the laser bulldogs that only hit for 56/378, or if you are going to hit and run go with the Yellow jacket GT-210 at Orison at Cousin Crows for 4600 AUEC with 320 rounds each but will be gone in 16 seconds of firing putting out 56/1088 sustained dps I don't recommend for any kind of long confrontation but in a tight spot well, next missiles max damage would be the Arrows infrared at Grim Hex or hul-l3 for 88 AUEC each 2333 damage per missile compared with stock Marksman at 1140,but the marksman do travel fast and have a max range of 12000 m compared to the Arrows at 10000 m remember you only have two missiles if you hit its either 2280 damage or 4666 damage.Missiles depend on the other pilots ability for counter measures or avioding them by ship maneuvers so it's a little bit of a crap shoot anyways so I say go big or go home on the missles. I really like the medbed for the instances when I do pick up a tier 3 injury, but you're right, it's a bit useless outside of that. Most of the time I either die or don't get hit enough to pick up an injury. I find the Pisces is simply better because of its small profile and quick claim time, but that's not unique to the C8R.

I ended up using a referral ship I received (STV from the Foundation Festival). Combined with a CCU I had to save $5, it was only a $20 pledge. While I can't melt it (and I can't see why I would ever want to), this is something other players may consider to lower the barrier of entry. Even at $25 without a CCU, it's a cheap way to grab one with LTI if you are so inclined.

It is relevant for larger ships with better medical facilities like the Hope Endeavor. Yeah, they are using cutlasses but you might be able to fit a cutlass and 2 more of these in the hanger, giving you greater response capabilities to a good-sized fleet. More ambulances are better for a hospital ship.

C8r is the best variant made to date. Fast enough, small enough and agile enough. For me personally it was a must for my fleet. Since PES came in it is sooo much easier to park close to the bunkers amidst all the wreckage. The Titan and the C8r are my 2 go too in the Verse.

I LOVE my pisces ships, quick call time, easy to operate and fly. (when you don’t exit the bed the wrong way) It’s easy to get into and out of areas with its tiny footprint, great range, and reasonably fast in and out of atmo. I would totally recommend it to anyone as you can park it inside larger ships and BAM! You now have medical capability in what ever ship you park it in.

If they add in NPC medical contracts, a player reputation system, and some sort of range limiter on player Medical contracts it will be much more useful, as it is death is just the easier option, unless you're doing Org play, in which the ship becomes much more viable as a backup medical facility.

I imagine that in the future you will see it being used as an ambulance by groups of players. Treating the wounded but also able to take players to other more capable medical ships if injuries have been sustained. And those larger ships would also be able to provide respawn facilities.

From my point of view, the bed in the back of the Pisces Rescue is a net positive. There isn't much that it can't do that the standard or Expedition Pisces can. It makes a good little scout for whatever host vessel you put it on, and it's also helpful for times when you have a big-bertha type ship that you don't necessarily want to slog down planetside just to pick up a gunner or some supplies. My personal opinion is that the weapons on the Pisces are a trap - the best thing you can do with them is remove them, because in a lot of situations, being tempted to turn and engage because you have a couple of peashooters is decidedly counter to your survival. Then again, the Pisces isn't likely to outrun anything that jumps it, so ...

The only minor tweak I would do to the Pisces 8R is to move the guns from the nose to the wings. I've just always been irritated by having the gun muzzle flashes in my face! 😬 And it's honestly a stupid design choice. We know there are weapon hardpoints on the wings because of the C8X. So CIG could have used those two instead of the nose.

They really need to fix the medbed and the jump seat, as it makes the ship basically unusable for medical gameplay in 3.20. That said, the Rescue Pisces is a great runabout ship. Quick, inexpensive claim; fast, maneuverable, and easy to fly. The medical bed is a nice feature, but the real kicker is the free food/drink/medpens/oxypens in the fridge! Excellent for getting back in the action with minimal downtime after a disconnect or death.

LOL I only upgraded to this ship because at the time, Drinks and Food were not working and I kept dying. So I got this ship to heal while delivering boxes. Other than that, there are many other better ships. Also why don't paint jobs of the other C8's not work on this one?

Just an idea; there are so many ships in the game that aren't combat focused... maybe it would be a good idea to rename the "combat performance" section to "role performance" or something?

Not a bad idea, but most ships will likely be required to defend themselves from time to time and having an idea of how good(or how terrifically poor in some cases) your combat capabilities are so you can make a better decision about how to approach combat. For any non-combat focused ship, obviously your first choice should be to run. I see the combat segment more of a "when you MUST fight in this ship, here's what tools you have" chapter.

I can hear it in his voice that he's sick of those comments and pointing out that he already knows that. I was just hoping to offer a suggestion that might both shut up "those" commenters and make it so he doesn't have to slog thru that disclaimer for each and every non-combat ship lol.

Trick is to stay moving, if your stationary all the ai’s shots will hit you in the same spot but if your moving they have a chance of missing or glancing off your armor giving you just enough time to avoid being incapacitated.

No...What I'm talking about is, certain times a fall where all I got was an injured leg. I became totally incapacitated and not even able to use a med pen.@@terencewmartin
