Watching the performers actually hammer on the anvils makes this such a dramatic performance. I love the cadence of the arms swinging the hammer over and over again!

The soprano you liked is actually mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick. She undoubtedly owns the role since her first performance at the Met almost 30 years ago, imagine, opposite Luciano Pavarotti and Sherrill Milnes!

The series this performance is from is called "The Met live in HD" This video itself is not HD, but that's because you're watching it on youtube and not an official showing in a theater. I've been to Met Live showings and they're absolutely incredible.
