I don't know if you still have the printer but, did you try to measure the stuff you print with a caliper? Printing a 20 mm cube I get discrepancies up to 1.2 mm. And they are not constant so I can't do a shit about it. I'm really disgusted by this machine. Even worse, after few months my Ultrabase bed became concave so now I can't print objects bigger than a small central area.

This was my first 3d printer and honestly I think it’s a great set of “training wheels” if you want to learn. If you just want a printer that will work perfectly out of the box it’s not for you. Because the mega x is a bit finicky and unreliable, you learn a lot about adjusting print settings, troubleshooting and other useful skills. It’s also not super expensive so you can take the risk of doing repairs yourself without worrying too much about breaking a piece of high end equipment. The size gives you room to grow and experiment. Once it’s served you for a bit you can move on to a better, more expensive printer and you’ll be much more prepared to get the most out of a higher end experience.

This is a great explanation of what I'm experiencing lol, I've had my printer for about a year and a half and It's to the point that while it's able to get the job done I am starting to get unsatisfied with the print quality and the amount of mistakes that will sometimes happen.

10:36 you need to put "G5" to your start gcode to activate the power outage support.

i've been using the Mega S for a few months now, it's a fantastic printer for the price!. and the surface it has, it's 100% unnecesary to use painter's tape, glue or anything else if you are printing with PLA, i print at a 60c bed temp and it's practically IMPOSSIBLE to remove while its hot like even at 30c you would have to whack it really hard o get it to detach, once its completely cools down it pops off no problem.. clean it with alcohol and you are god to go on your next one.. i love that bed!

Thank You for your Video. I received my MEGA X 2 days ago, watching many other video's I learned to tighten the rollers on the bottom plate. I am a Newbie to 3D printing so I tried the 2 owls and had No stringing. next I tried a Benchy using Cura, with bad results. So I bought Simplify 3D and tried the same Benchy again. Wow-what a difference it made. I have printed it at 3 different speeds and even the Fast speed looked good. BTW I had printed the 2 owls a total of 3 times and all with good results. Maybe they have made adjustments to my printer different than yours? I also have printed 2 overhang_Angle_Test-30_85 and both med and high quality with the results of an easy 75% overhand without support. I am still doing more tests today as I have much to learn. I am trying to get a better setting to reduce the amount of support needed on a print so I can clean them up easier. Thank You aging for your review

Thanks for this review. Regarding the 12v power supply and large bed, is it possible to insulate the bed to allow it to heat faster? Been meaning to look into this. Also, do you have a favorite all-around printer for less than $600?

Mosfets to the heated bed/nossle and do not need a cooling fin if the PCB designer use a more expsnsive mosfet with lover internal resistance. But is cheaper with a bad mosfet and small heat sink.

How strong is the flexible material, would it be suitable for power transmission belts for small machines?

Not sure. We should put it to the test for that. Also we should try different brands of elastic material...

I don't see a problem with a 12V design if the cabling and the PSU is beefy enough, which seems to be the case here. Also I really like seeing a Meanwell PSU here, seems like a very decent design. Any idea if the MEGA-S is similarly constructed? The X is a bit too large for my taste...

I agree. I own it, it is stock and I can't stop complaining about the bad print quality with Anycubic PLA filament. The most terrible thing about this printer is the heated bed itself. The Ultrabase does its job but the bed itself is concave!!! I tried many times to compensate (both with hot and cold bed) but didn't solve my problem. Now I'm thinking to stick up some glass on it but I'm worried about the temperature. Will it get hot enough?

Stringing is a real mystery in this machine. You solve it once and the next time you print it manifests itself again. Awful, seriously. Sometimes I just think that Anycubic needed some money to research and mass produce resin printers so they started selling this crappy machines....
