I'm curious why an hour in the crockpot as opposed to only a few moments over the stove? the flavor idea is cool but time and electricity IDK maybe i missed something

Back in the Early 1960's, my Mom made marshmallow treats. But, she melted a bag of chocolate chips, plus a bag of butterscotch chips in the same pan. Melted, blended, then poured that on top of the marshmallows & Rice Krispies!! Awesome. My Mother loved chocolate. I preferred lemon desserts, or, apple cinnamon desserts, or ginger bread with lemon sauce!!! This looks great!!!

I’ve never heard of adding pudding, that’s interesting. Also, the usual recipe calls for 6 Cups of rice crispies, you used the whole box, right?
@JahlderKon6 ай бұрын
Why would you melt the butter first if you're gonna simmer in a crock pot That will just make the cereal soggy. Melt the mallows and butter together in a sauce pan like every Krispy recipe. (I also add a few spoonfuls of sweetened condensed milk to keep mine soft & chewy)
@sandraolsen65963 ай бұрын
Hello, that sounds interesting, how much condensed milk do you think would work best please? How do you store them? Thank you for the information if you do respond back... 😊😊
@JahlderKon3 ай бұрын
@@sandraolsen6596 I usually use about 2 tablespoons and store them at room temp in either plastic wrap or a air tight container. Try substituting crushed potato chips for half the cereal, you can thank me later ;) Good luck!

It's not even mixed well! My incredible, best,doesn't get any better than that way.....melt the butter and marshmallows in a pan on the stove, stir the krispies into the hot marshmallows, spread it into greased 9x13 and get on with it! Bye
@kims19416 ай бұрын
Your way is quicker and easier
@wardrobelion6 ай бұрын
It may have worked better to put the rice crispies in the crockpot after the marshmallows were melted but the crockpot is still more energy efficient than a pot on the stove.
@NancySimback6 ай бұрын
Yes,but it only takes about 10 minutes to melt ,stirring constantly on the stove. Also you have control not to let it burn around the bottom edges like hers did. It's what is easiest for each person.

How about a nice piece of fruit?
@dispeaking16 ай бұрын
Marshmallow to rice Krispy ratio is off. Its six cups rice Krispy to 10 oz bag of marshmallows. That's why it looks dry. She should have melted butter and marshmallows together, then, when all melted, added the pudding. Once that was stirred in, added the cereal in. She ruined the texture because of the way she put it together.
@agnessimon93506 ай бұрын

I disagree, completely! Crock pots only heat the vessel, not your whole kitchen. You must live in Siberia, where there's still snow in June!

I totally agree...I love my crock pot for all kinds of recipes. Some of us don't want to stand and stir and stir either. It all comes out the same 😊 @wardrobelion.
@foofookachoo11366 ай бұрын
Well, I would at least TRY this on a stove burner. It would be faster. It seems like it might work. I would first put the butter in pan to melt, then the marshmallows, stir them around in the butter, until their both melted and mixed up together. Then stir in the puddings, and let that get hot, on medium strength burner. Then throw in those Kristine’s, and stir them well to coat. THAT is how I would do it. Now maybe they won’t turn out, but I’m going to try doing it THAt way.
@loishunt23476 ай бұрын
Why? Why not do it on the stove? Did your gas get shut off?
@wardrobelion6 ай бұрын
You try cooking in June in the desert! It's much more practical and efficient to use a crockpot than to heat your whole freaking kitchen then have to try cooling it down with the A/C.
