Just bought this, I played with the demo version for a day and loved it. Thanks for the help.

Dennis, Glad you enjoyed them and they helped you make a decision to buy. There will be more soon. Take care, Dave

Excellent video as always. It is recommended that a shallower gradient is used at the beginning and end of a slope. Does Anyrail do this automatically or does it have to be done manually?

You know, I don't know. I don't think it does. You could isolate sections of your grade temporarily and turn on the grade display and see. If not I suppose you could isolate sections at the beginning of the grade and apply a different gradient to each one. But that may take up quite a bit of track and if you have a space like mine, I wouldn't have the room. I'm happy if I can keep the grade at 3% or below. Dave

Creating grades as I build the trackplan is maddening. There must be a way to build the grade as I go so I know where the grade ends up rather than knowing the end elevation beforehand. I should be able to state from the start point is a 2% grade and attach tracks from there.

Hi John, I am not a civil engineer but I think you need to have a start point and an end point to be able to calculate a grade. I would suggest asking on the AnyRail forum if want you want is possible. dave

I have followed your instructions. Made sure that in the show ribbon that Slope percentages and Height are checked. When I use smooth slope the height and percentages are not showing, however when I check the connection points the height is correct there. What am I missing.

Hi Jim, That is a good question. I just went and did a simple oval and used smooth slope and I see the grades and heights. I could not find a way to get them not to display when they are checked in the SHOW tab. My only guess is that maybe there is a weird font selected in OPTIONS. Unfortunately I can't see a way to post any images to my reply (I'm still learning the ins and outs of KZbin) but if you go to File-Options-Texts, see if there are any odd fonts selected in the SLOPE PERCENTAGE and HEIGHT dropdown boxes. In my program they are blank. I'll keep looking but if that is not it, I would suggest going to the anyrail forum and asking. There's some cool stuff in that Text Options box. I might go over that soon. If you find an answer, please leave a comment so we can all know. Dave

Vertical curve of the grade at the ends should not be a turnout (switch) or a curve spiral. The combination of curving and grade change on a locomotive and cars can result in a derailments. The length of either a spiral or vertical in small scales should be six plus inches and 12 to 18 inches in ,larger scales. Google spiral curves for the formula and caluations Old Pete Silcox Old Pete Silcox.
