Just finished this level on moderate after trying and failing about 5 times. On the final attempt, sent wave after wave of rams, scorpions, and crap troops into yellow's base, not countering yellow's units very well at all and getting slaughtered. Letting infantry fight in range of their castle and towers and getting cut down. Managed to damage the TC down to 1/3 HP, enough to send what I thought was the final wave of troops, no siege, thinking I'll run in and snipe the TC. But turns out they repaired the TC so got slaughtered again and made no progress. Finally rubbed two brain cells together and went up to Imp, got all the upgrades. Another wave into yellow, this time with added trebs and petards. All got wiped out and made no progress on damaging the TC because my micro is non-existent. Now completely out of gold and resorting to the market. Made a final push with Champions, trebs, knights and light cav, and finally brought down the TC. I always have to take a break for half a day or so after beating each campaign mission because it's so stressful.

If you don't IMMEDIATELY take out green this mission is insanely difficult. You find yourself fighting off longbows and trebs from yellow, knights and pikes from orange, and siege and knights from green. Not to mention cannon galleons once green hits imp. Crazy mission. Feels a bit badly balanced honestly.

WTF. Apparently just rushing works. Fuck sake. I spent hours on Hard. They start attacking with those perfect micro Longbowmen. Then Trebs. Then Pikemen and Onagers from Troyes. I thought rushing wouldn't work as they might have enough army to just kill me immediately. WTF is the point of giving villagers then. How the fuck do they not attack your base at all. I had to make 3 castles just to defend against all 3 enemies. How did Viper know to even rush with ZERO damn info about the enemy. Had to constantly make Skirms, so I didn't have eco for anything else. Then knights come at THE PERFECT time to kill all skirms. Had to make Paladin, Halbs, Crossbows. for each enemy type. Then the stupid fucking cavalry start chasing longbowmen into arrow fire. Then they had ships to kill my dock. They had bombard ship. Couldn't leave my base for once.

You almost exactly described my attempt. I had 3 castles and walled just to give myself a chance to boom and build armies. Viper's micro is just so good, he can rush this quickly. It's depressing to watch haha

I actually find to be completly opossite. episode 6 is way harder than the AoE II HD, I can't seem to find a way to win this. I've taken Purple (the one thats walled in) and Orange but I get flooded by Red and whats left of Purple

I’m nowhere as quick as Viper eg hotkeys but I found that walling the shallows was bad advice, they just used transport ships. I think the only answer is to simply be offensive and try to take out chalon tc asap. Easier said than done.

The last scenario in joan of arc and the second one in Kotyan Khan have been the hardest for me yet. Interestingly, i played the entire Joan of Arc campaign today itself, as well. I expected the second mission to be easy, and was super annoyed by the Longbows. Took my thrice as long as it usually did for me to win the "Maid of Orleans" scenario. I then expected this one to be really difficult. And, damn, only Orange (Troyes) attacked me properly. I never managed to finish the 6th one. Annoyed by the insane longbowmen micro, i quit in rage. Will probably try tomorrow again. Btw, if you haven't yet, play the Tamerlane campaign. To me, it is arguably the best of the new campaigns in DE. It is almost perfectly balanced. Ofc, some scenarios have weird stuff going on. but, in general, it's pretty good. It is tough though, mind you. So, be prepared for the challenge. (Although, if you successfully managed to beat the Kotyan Khan campaign, Tamerlane is gonna be fun and moderately difficult in comparison.)

If you want my tip for Joan of Arc 6, dont set up your base in the burgundian (purple) camp. Destroy them, and go straight north after that for the orange town and wipe them out immediatly. They don't have enough to defend that early, and not only is that one less threat to worry about, their town is a very nice spot to set up camp yourself. Defend that until you built up a bunch of paladins, and take it from there.

@@Cyrikyty That's a novel strategy for me. I always used to set up my base in the Burgundian camp, and then take out Shrewsbury (Orange). With the initial army that we get, it is quite possible to take care of them early. That's nice. Actually, it is the "take it from there" part that you talk about, which is hard to do. The AI does a fantastic job at micro-managing every unit. So, their longbows are a real pain in the ass. The only unit which matches its range is the Bombard cannon, but, it is too much of an investment if I wanna try and finish the game early. The continuous Longbowman spam in DE makes it harder for me to get into their base. So, the only way in which a noob player like me could even enter the base was to use petards, like, 20 of them. After that, yeah, Paladins ftw. Very expensive though. Have to invest a lot of resources into it. Cavalier+Paladin+ the number of paladins+ blacksmith techs.....It's a lot. sigh. and to think it was easier to do in AoE2:HD. All this just to hear the "Vive la France" from a frankish soldier. Vive la france, btw.

Mixing in some rams and skirmishers can help distract the longbows and make your overall unit composition a bit cheaper (also helps against the AI-microed monks from purple). But yeah, there isn't much you can do about the damn 12 range longbows aside from luring them into castlefire early on, and spamming them to hell with paladins later.

@@Cyrikyty All right. I will give it a try. I have tried using skirms in the Joan of Arc campaign and they have never worked for me. Makes me wonder how I got a gold medal in all of the "art of war" scenarios. xD I guess I really need to up my game then. I wanted to play the game on hard difficulty for fun. I don't want to play like the top ranked player that is theviper. This is why I dislike the kotyan Khan campaign. Even theViper struggled so much to win it. I will accept the challenge and play it anyways, but, I want to play it for relaxation, you know, after a long, hard day at work. I don't have more than a few hours per day to play. So, idk. I would want them to keep the scenarios challenging, but also winnable, even by those who have bad apm and micromanagement. Sforza last mission is probably the best example of what I do not want. I barely won it on standard difficulty. Barely.

I've played this map on Moderate every way I can think of and followed youtube tutorials and it's just not going to happen for me I guess. I wipe out everything on the south side, wall up the bridges, wipe out the nearest dock, build up an army, a navy, and a castle and get completely obliterated. Are we sure something hasn't changed since you did it last?

This is comically painful to watch how easy you walk this map. My monks can't convert a blade of grass, let alone an enemy. You have this beat in less than half hour, and I keep having to restart in less than ten minutes because I keep getting my arse handed to me when I try to even destroy their dock. Kinda makes me want to give up playing cause while I'm trying to learn hotkeys, and grouping players n that, I should still have a fighting chance at success, but I just keep getting spanked. Quite demoralizing
