I hope AOS continues to attract more players to the game because this channel is criminally underrated. especially considering it provides a solid 40 minutes of entertainment, like some other channel. It’s a blast to watch while painting or to learn new tactics. Keep up the great work!

Was Ryan rolling on eye of the gods when he finished off units? Those buffs can be huge.
@ryancooper36294 күн бұрын
Nope, he completely forgot hahah. Tbh, I've had trouble remembering rolling on that damn table since it was invented like a decade ago. (That said, in this game, I don't think it would have had huge impact as by the time I was "wiping out" units the game was pretty much over.)

Great to see Cities. I am happy to see how tanky the Cavaliers are! Seems like the Cavalier Marshal was a bit lackluster? Fusiliers! I've only played a handful of 2k games in 4th, but I have found Fusiliers have always been the unsung hero for my Freeguild armies. Also Belakor has a stupid warscroll lol. Needs to be at least +70pts for him.

@MisterJoker-td7jl he is the most used model in all competing slaves to darkness armies, he is undercosted by a good amount. If you use him badly that's on you bud.
@ryancooper36294 күн бұрын
I think the specific circumstance just sorta undermined his usefulness. Be'lakor messed up the Cavaliers' ability to charge, which meant Jordan never had to a chance to leverage the Marshal's synergy. Though I'd still say he was super valuable in keeping those cavaliers alive as long as they were as he was giving them all-out-defence and the 5+ ward orders. I don't thnk this is a good representation on how he would perform in most games.

@@Strade8 Agreed. I'm thinking I'd you can manage to get strike first of from marshal but y'all a little scared you could strike last plus 5+ ward which would then be strike 'medium'
@Strade84 күн бұрын
@@mattyno964 depends on the activations, getting strike first and charge you should get about 20 wounds on a 3+ save with all out attack. There won't be much left of whatever unit. If you attack with 2 is better to keep the strike first.

Abraxia would be cool
@ryancooper36294 күн бұрын
The challenge with Abraxia is that her design is to be in a Varanguard spam list that just wants to slam into the enemy line, pop all the double pile in abilities, and overwhelm the army immediately. It is certainly strong, but it makes for a pretty one dimensional battle report. ;) She will definitely be on the channel from time to time but she is just too limited to be featured frequently like say Be'lakor who works in a huge variety of builds.

I love when people are like "no I don't want to play with Legends units, I want to make sure we have an even-keel, balanced experience, so you having a 5-man unit of skeletons with 2 wounds apiece would be a little too spicy for me. Anyway here's my list with Belakor, his rules say I'm allowed to Once Per Game [army] shoot you my opponent with a gun."
@ryancooper36294 күн бұрын
Well, I don't think its that legends units are particularly overpowered for the most part. Its more that its units that people know aren't getting active balance consideration. That said, I've never encountered an opponent in a friendly match who wouldn't be cool with using legends. Just gotta discuss first. Also, as for Be'lakor, you pay a big premium for that ability. He costs probably 150pts more than he would if he didn't have it, if not more. Its a very strong ability that comes at a big premium. In this game it was pivotal, in other games its irrelevant.
@johnsnow59684 күн бұрын
@@ryancooper3629 Sure does - and given that the entire competitive community seems to agree that he is one of if not the best single warscroll in the game, maybe he doesn't pay enough, and maybe an ability that colossally, ridiculously swingy that depends so heavily on what is in your opponents list and then on the outcome of a handful of single D6 rolls is fundamentally un-balanceable. So with that, it's really incredible to me that there is this culture of "I can roll up to pretty much any 2k game with my Belakor, unannounced, just a perfectly fine and dandy unit to bring to any old game, but if I bring a unit with stats as absolutely outrageous as The Crimson Court I better fucking ask my opponents permission, wouldn't want my selection of unit to affect the balance of my game night."
@ryancooper36293 күн бұрын
@@johnsnow5968 Again, its not about balance, its about "active support". That said there is little evidence to suggest Belakor slaves are OP. Its not like Slaves are dominating the meta.

Any ideas on how we could help solve that problem? It's something that's been on my mind, but I don't know how to fix the issue without severely impacting the players and gameplay, which we don't want to take away from!
@alphabetbeer3 күн бұрын
@@SeasonofWar So I have done a ton of thinking on how Warhammer channels could film Bat-Reps more engagingly, and I have two ideas I have never seen implemented, likely mostly for budget and time reasons. Firstly, I think some MTG youtube channels do an excellent job explaining a very complex game at a variety of levels. Both Tolarian Community College and Cardmarket have a particularly good focus on comprehension. For what it's worth just with the narrator y'all have during the fast forward segments this is already the closest AOS channel to that style of video. But a little cut-in with an image (maybe even with relevant stats/abilities) would go a long way when describing a unit in combat. The other point of reference would be the post-game miniature filming in Dimension 20. Just a close up shot of two minis next to one another for some key combats or moments could be massive for showing "This is who is fighting" or "Who is slinging this powerful spell." This would likely be a lot more time consuming, and is way less likely to work with the kind of budget and time constraints you're already under putting out two of these a week. But if it is possible (or something like it) it would easily put these videos up a notch or three. I would like to reiterate that you definitely already have the most readable AOS channel I've found, and I hope this sparks some ideas/helps in some way!
@Dotification3 күн бұрын
@@SeasonofWar Hi! I'm new to the channel, but here are some thoughts for making the action easier to follow; So priority roll-off's would be more exciting if you used larger dice with better contrast, so we can see them from the top-down camera/lighting. Brighter paint schemes with more contrasting colors would help us to make out the models, as would using game mats that they don't blend in with as much. It all looks very dark & muddled with the general lack of contrasting colors, which is mood/vibes vs. legibility I suppose, assuming there's not much else to be done to amp up the brightness. Also using less proxies makes it easier to follow along. You could also have on screen text labeling the different units as players introduce their armies in the beginning??
