Aozolai did you do any analysis upon how wide the angle of lock on is? I have gotten pretty amazing kills with the hydra taking advantage of its massive lock on angle paired with de-scoped lock on time

It's possible that it's intended to be used on fast-approaching enemies (vehicles) so lock-on and fire can be achieved before they've made it to attack range (maybe to make up for the travel time of the missiles).

Xander 'The Wolf' Same thing happens with the High Five. It can read up to 762 m/2,500 ft and yet it can't hit targets that far.

Also, it takes 3 shots to kill a Spartan with the Echidna if they have upgraded shields... still only 2 for the Hydra Launcher and Typhoon if they upgraded shields...

BANSHEE PILOTS: The best way to avoid Hydras when they're chasing you is it flip up when you can hear them right behind you

Echidna seems quite niche. It'll lock a vehicle in place, but depending on how far away that vehicle is, you might need a teammate to hijack/destroy it. Against AI in WZ and WZF, it seems like it could help a lot. In Super Fiesta, you might want to drop it for something more sure in close quarter fights. Then again, the Echidna can lock on without zooming.

I think echidina would make a great pair with a sniper rifle. Not only can you use it as a spotter, its hipfire-tracking ability will also help a lot for mid-close engagment.

Typhon is probably the best. It's essentially a coked up Hydra. But Echidna's lock on is still a very good feature, along with the really good range, and EMP.

I understand man, you gotta do what you gotta do. After Halo 3 I took a long break from video games to focus on school/college but I still followed Halo, Battlefield, and Gears of War as interests. Geez, i did not know the Echidna had such a far lock in range. However, i do find it retarted/dumb that they cant reach its lock on range. Only way it would be effective that way is if the enemy is coming towards you. Even so, its actual effective lock on range is sufficient if it only started tracking from its farthest effective range.

Yup, you won't need to be in Smart-Link to lock on to close targets with Echidnas. Remember, you can't use Smart-Link if being shot at so the Echidna is superior in that aspect.
