SCS should bring the Eiffel Tower back! Paris is not itself without it. Look at ATS literally every famous landmark like the Golden Gate Bridge, US Bank Tower, Houston skyline etc. are present. Even in the Germany rework we have icons like the Fernsehturm or the Brandenburg Gate. And SCS being a European company, I assume the Eiffel Tower company will consider that too with granting the license. Besides I think only the night lighting is copyrightable, the structure itself is in public domain.

Copyright on landmarks is a wild concept. In general, because of the copyright, we are like a decade back from where we should have been in terms of technology, internet, communications.

Every city should have one or more recognisable landmarks like Colosseum for Rome, which is the city currently unrecognisable in ETS.

"SCS crashed real cars for sounds": I can imagine the grin on the sound enginers face when this project aproved. "Well Guys! This is s***y job, but somebody have to do it!" 😉 Bus simulator: It would make a GREAT DLC for ETS2! Especially they already put some serious efforts in the map. There are bus stops and stations here and there.

I don't think SCS removed Eiffel tower because of copyright. Rather, you just don't get close to the city center in the game. Since you're only driving in suburban areas, you can't see it. Other games like Overwatch have the Eiffel tower in their game, and I don't think they paid money just to add hundred-years-old landmark.

I took a tour of the Eiffel Tower recently and it's true that the tower is copyrighted. Technically even if you distribute photos of the Eiffel Tower trying to earn from them, you owe the city of Paris royalties for it. BS I know, but it's true. Using a depiction of the Eiffel Tower in a game would be the same as using copyrighted music. That being said you are correct that it's not that necessary, considering you don't come anywhere near the Eiffel Tower in the game.

AP, this is more like a trick, but in the early game it my come handy: If you buy a really cheap (bucket) truck for around 26 000 - 27 000 euros with 6x4 drivetrain and downgrade it to a 4x2, you will get a relatively high amount of refund for the old drivetrain. This little trick may come handy if you buying your first (few) truck as you can spend more on fix / upgrade it.

AP, another trick: The "Wooden Floor Flatbed" of the "Standard Trailers" are upgradeable with "Floor with Container pins". This makes it very versatile trailer, especially if you have the Class 3 ADR training (Flammable liquids) skill. Transporting fuel containers makes very good money, even if you are still a low level driver.

iirc, near Oslo, there’s a very detailed bus depot/station that doesn’t really serve any purpose in the current game, there’s no companies there to deliver to, no through route, nothing… Maybe busses are coming officially in the future of ETS2? (Besides current bus mods obviously)

i believe they recently made it so that a police officer can't fine you if he's on the opposite lane on a small road, unless you are way past the speed limit

i think they made it completly impossible to them, not long ago i was doing a job and almost ran out of time so i decidet to go as fast as possible, i was doing 130kmh on a small road with 70kmh, i went past 3 police cars and did not get any fines

From the opposite lane police can fine you only if the speed limit is 60 km/h or lower. Also any stationary police patrol will always fine you from any location

I'm talking about even when you have Advanced Trailer Coupling - whose whole purpose is that you need to align perfectly - yet being a game, it still does very slightly magically move, which many may not have noticed. With Advanced coupling off, the trailer moves like a few feet, yes everyone knows that

Random.fact, if you drive down tye hard shoulder of s motorway, the roads speed limit is femoved and then you can go as fast as you want. Not for me but an interesting fact.

I'm really not sure about the 10% above speed limits tolerence. I'm pretty sure I got fined even with 1 or 2 km above, which annoys me quite a bit very often because I hardly respect the limitations...

I can confirm that! That is - partially - the reason why I turned fines off. The other is the fining for crashes where the AI driver is cutting of or other ways clearly in the wrong.

Hi AP_101, I'm just wondering if you could help me with an issue with Euro truck. For some reason, when I'm driving any truck that has 12 gears, for example a Scania, Volvo or DAF, the game never kicks into the 12th gear and just sits in 11th gear, as I prefer to drive automatic. I don't drive manual, or sequential. Would you know what could be the possible issue be? I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem or whether the game or me. Thank you for your time.

12th gear is to get to the max speed. Maybe you're not going fast enough. Are the revs high or low at 11th gear? If it's low, then you're just not going fast enough for 12th gear. I drive manual and I almost never need to go to 12th gear. Maybe changing Transmission mode to Economy mode (from control settings) will make it change gear earlier, so to 12th gear quicker

Coach Sim was teased in 2013, just after ETS2 release. ATS is much later in 2016 following ETS2 Success

That American Truck Simulator would be successful was known from the start. CEO Pavel Šebor told a interview that it was because of the success of the 18 Wheels of Steel series that they decided to focus exclusively on truck simulators. But because they were bound by a contract with the publisher that they could not release any American-themed truck simulator, SCS Software created and self-published Euro Truck Simulator, then German Truck Simulator and UK Truck Simulator, and then Euro Truck Simulator 2. When the contract with the original publisher ended, the developer SCS Software released American Truck Simulator.

SCS Software has not only produced truck simulators in the past. Besides the Bus Driver mentioned in the video, I remember the Hunting Unlimited series. Why they stayed with just truck simulators is clear - they had the highest success rate and at the time SCS had no competition in truck simulators.

Number 10 is wrong for me, I got a ticket at 77 km/h in a 70 zone on the E4 in Sweden (Promods)

Either problem with promods somehow, or more likely you weren't in fact going 77 km/h. I'm pretty sure all the values shown in UI are rounded DOWN, which means you were almost certainly slightly above 77 (which can happen momentarily even with cruise control at 0 tolerance) . Not enough to tick the 78, but enough for the police to clock you. You were simply that unlucky guy who ran into an asshole cop... super realistic.

@ahriman935 it was actually a speed camera and on cruise control i had set 77 km/h (Scania NG S). Although, only 5 over the limit is always safe, now I tried 7 above, but in Sweden I got unlucky. I was going from Imnsbruck AT to Kirkenes NO and have had a lucky trip until Sweden 😂
