It's easy--you cite the sources you used in an annotated bibliography, but you also cite/annotate any other source that you found but didn't use directly. If the teacher gave you a number of sources to have, grab that many sources for your annotated bib.

@@peakdavid Thanks so much! I have to write an annotated bibliography this week. The syllabus says that it should be a brief description (~150 words) of the article to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. We have to review ten peer reviewed journal articles and two dissertations. In general, I have a very hard time being "brief" in my writing. Also, I never know where to start with a project like this. Do I read the article in full and then write a paragraph about it? Or do I take notes throughout my reading? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

@@Steph2285anie Good questions. 150 words is plenty. Two methods you can use: First, scholarly articles have their own abstract/summary after the title and author. You can use that summary as the basis of your own. Second, skim the article (word-for-word reading isn't necessary) to find its hypothesis (what question it will answer), it methodology (what the authors did to answer the question), their results, their conclusions. Write 1-3 sentences about each, then add your own evaluation at the end about relevance, accuracy, and quality. Try this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnuyaqamnN6AqJI
