I had one of these fall 3-4 feet full of gear on its side onto concrete. It protected the gear, but the case now has a crack and I need to either get a new one and never let it fall, or get a Pelican.

Good video Ham Radio Dude !!! next time try running over the case with the front of your truck (more weight) ... and you might be able to submerge the case better if you flip it upside down (top looks thinner than base) ......

I also have a a case like this I have not done a test like you have, with it being harbor freight i just took it as "good enough " looks like it more then that, I have seen harbor freight has done major improvements on the products, not really a one and done product anymore.

We're on the same page. I have purchased products from harbor freight in the past which did not meet expectations. A wonderful example is the battery tender which set on fire on the first use. I still feel like most of their stuff is probably pretty poorly built. I'd say these cases are definitely the most durable thing I've purchased at Harbor Freight.
