it wasn't forbidden to study English in Romania back in 1970's...In Elementary Schools you could study English language. My husband studied English back in 1970's in Bucharest Romania. I chose French in elementary school, and German in High school as a second. International Language. You could choose English, French, German, as an international language. Also in High Schools students could study two International languages. I lived 29 years in Romania! I didn't know I would moved to America so I chose a different language to study in my school years. I remembered in 5th grade I had to chose a foreign language and English seemed to me hard back then so I chose French. But French is hard to study, too. So When I came to U.S.A. I had to study English here in States. It's a beautiful language and so it's Romanian!

@@Marketoromagnolo English language was taught in so many schools and also one on one tutoring program. American Movies were allowed but mostly they were old movies like in Turner Classic Movies here in States. Example: John Wayne movies, Elizabeth Taylor movies, Charlie Chaplin movies, James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hebron, Gene Kelly, Henry Fonda, Marlon Brandon, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Tony Curtis, Joan Fontaine, Jane Fonda, Sophie Loren, Anthony Quinn, Elvis Presley, Jack Lemmon, Richard Burton, Laurence Olivier, Paul Newman, my favorite actor and I had crush on him and still have is ROBERT REDOFRD. I fell in love with him when I saw BAREFOOT IN THE PARK Film. And many other actors I knew them from my country Romania. You could see these films on Tv and on Movie Theater. But on Tv we could watch on Wednesday night, Saturday and Sunday night. Tv was limited a day like 6 hours Tv in 24 hours. It wasn't too good and it wasn't too bad. It was with money as salaries were pretty small for regular jobs. Also it was bad I heard for some famous people or some writers or people who wanted to make movies and they had trouble with government and then they have to change the script the way government allow it. For many people was bad and had trouble with their artistry work because the government had to agree with it. Everything was censured and monitored. But we ordinary people had no ideea of all off these. It wasn't broadcasting. They were just rumors. But after the revolution the true came out. Romanians found out about Some People who were either beaten, tortured, spied on, or worse. I guess we could see movies with Elvis Presley or ''Gone With The Wind ''movies sometimes these were playing on theater Movies so people would not considered to go against the regime policies or to think about a revolution or something. People were afraid to talk about the harsh regime. We could see Sports on Tv, Music, Movies, News but censured and it was Tv Program broadcasting only few hours a day. On weekends a little bit more. Some days they played on Tv. Romanian films or theater, or Romanian music, and they were only two Chanels. We had great Romanian actors who make some beautiful films and they had splendid performances in plays or musical theater. I came in U.S.A in 1988 legally after waiting 9 years for that. During Those 9 years I was so tired to stay in the long lines to buy groceries when I needed. Some things were okay some weren't. I felt free because I was an ordinary person who didn't travel in other countries. Nobody monitored me. I didn't talk about the Romanian regime in 80's in public because it was dangerous. Anyway I miss Romania and I am proud to be Romanian!God bless you!

Nadia is a very intelligent girl. She could speak French and some English back in her teenager years. Now she speaks fluently English. We didn't know about our princess Nadia suffered so much in her own country. They didn't pay her enough for the glory she brought to Romania. But the news were censured and they didn't broadcasted any news about she was monitored or that she didn't feel free. it is true but I found out about this here in U.S.A. I sometimes watch some videos about Nadia Interviews from 1990's in U.S.A and I feel bad how much she suffered in Romania. I know she was happy too in Romania because her Gymnastics routines was her happiness and she loved her family!God bless you Nadia and your family! You are wonderful!Te iubim!

Nadia Comaneci could speak French pretty well in her teenager years and some English. She studied in Romania schools but she was so busy training herself in Gymnastics between 4 to 7 hours a day, plus school. So I think Nadia is very intelligent and always had ambitious to excel well in Gymnastics, school activities and in the things she needed. God bless you Nadia and your family!Love you!God bless everyone!
