Another gem, thanks. I've been learning from you for years. I've committed many of your licks, tumbaos and variations to memory. I have been wondering how you choose what to play, how much you have committed to memory, does someone in the band tell you the feel they want, do you have it all worked out before you show up for practice, do you tune your drums a certain way for different gigs??? Just a question if you don’t mind… I find a lot of times when I am playing percussion I use these rhythms and even basic tumbaos they fit. Are these appropriate or “politically correct”, if that’s the word, for gospel, RnB, and funk percussion?
