@@anthonybelliveau-ANYONE-2024 Billy Howerdel and Chester Bennington planned to write a song and record it for Linkin Park's One More Light. If they couldn't come up with anything on the fly, this song (which Billy and Maynard were writing for Billy's Ashes Divide, and was half-done by that point) was his ace on his sleeve. However, that never happened as far as I know. And after OML, Chester took his own life before having the chance to be with Billy in studio. As a dedication for Chester, Billy and Maynard then reworked the lyrics and finished the song, in the way it's presented here.

@funzario1444 жыл бұрын
I hope you are fine. I also went through it and was probably like you born 1976 , most intriguing part of depression was that I was feeling nothing. It was like sinking into a viscous and bottomless ocean. This was really fucked up. What helped me was my interest in history. All those conquerors ,emperors , inventors or religious leaders had one thing in common. They were dead. Everything has an end, glory fame but also suffering. What a soothing thought! So I realized that the time we actually have is limited and maybe, like an actor , I can pretend to be happy. So I did like one on stage. Surprisingly it worked for me. This sadness must not be selfdestructive but can be selfrevealing. Tool or Beksinski are proving it.

I do not know what it is, but there is something about this song that evokes a deep sense of familiarity in me when I hear it. It reminds me of how I felt when I would wander Dallas at night, not wanting to go "home" and having no one else I felt close to; having nowhere else to go but to the streets and within my own head. So much has changed since then, yet so much hasn't. Comfortable is what this song feels like.

this song really reminds me of fall 2018. Every morning I just felt like shit because I never got enough sleep. When I would get on the bus to go to school I would put my head on the window and doze off while this album played. Anytime something from this album plays I can almost feel the buzzing from my head being on the window and being cold. Last year during fall I had this album on repeat and I’m probably gonna do it again this year. What’s a weird coincidence is that my mom bought 13th Step when it came out in fall 2002 and it reminds her of fall.

This is just great for what it is. I left this album alone when it came out, as i know myself enough to know that im not easy on new albums from old bands i loved for their earlier work, and i dont give the chance they deserve so easily anymore, but damn im glad it found me in an open minded state, even if 2 years after release. It came the right time, and i'm glad i could give it a go, a real one, and accept it, let soak it in. This is a brilliant album. A bit different than before, but we are also different than before. Just like the song says, you just have to give it a go, just take the step. I'm glad its such a honest (or at least honest to me) album, i really feel so, and i not necessarily miss any of the more aggressive stuff they did in the past. I'm long not 18 anymore, and my 20s are gone aswell, but its good to see an "old friend" again, and more importantly that this friend is just fine, and does what it does just as good as before, just as good as 20 years ago. We all got older and wiser, and APC has come a long way too. Its different, and ist still a band to listen to after all these years that gone by.
