DUDE! Thank you, brother! I just came upon this video by random while digging deep through the algorithm, and wasn't even looking on this particular subject, but was happy to find it. There's so much of the same stuff here on KZbin, and some of these guys, like the two you mentioned, are so full of themselves, and even the well meaning ones just parrot the same crap, but if you're looking for anything specific in particular, you really have to dig, and even then you might not find what you're looking for. Everyone is so caught up in being so cinematic, or this or that, but don't give any advice that can be applied to any other application than just doing and looking the same as everyone else. I have some training and experience, but it's been a very long time, I know some things better than others, and I basically know enough to not be completely confused and know which questions to ask. I'm looking to get back into it, or learn some new things for the first time, and mainly it's been more academic than practical application so far, so when I'm trying to work things out in my head, and have questions, it's so hard to find anything applicable to what I want to do, like this did. So, kuddos on that. Again, this is just academic so far, but I have been concerned about what I actually can do in a vlog situation like this, and how much I want to trust, or I'll be forced to let, the camera do for me. This was very helpful. Leaving it in aperature priority looked fine for my purposes, and I didn't know if I would want to trust auto white balance, as opposed to pre setting a custom white balance, I guess in the brightest potential area?, but that also seemed to not be an issue here. How much I should be really that worried about motion blur? One thing, I had planned on shooting at more closed down for a deeper focus, and you did kind of mention this, but I was anticipating trying to set aperature and shutter speed manually, and just trying to leave it on auto ISO. Is that something that you"ve ever tried, and have any info about? Also, what's your experience with autofocus? I don't think I have any choice but to use it, and on a wide lens at say f8, it might not matter that much, but curious what your experiences with it have been.

Nice content. I am looking for a gimbal for my Sony a6400 with sigma 16mm 1.4

I have the exact same setup and it's farly new to me as well. I tried to take a video but it was completely overexposed, though I don't think it was in aperture priority. I shall try again. It looked quite good if not better without the filter in your footage.

It took me a little bit of experimenting to get it right. I've been rocking the A6400 for over a year now and I absolutely LOVE this set up.

@@joshuabutlermusic i love it too, but I find it a bit heavy to maneuver with one hand. Do you think that using a 10-18mm f4 would be an improvement over this setup? It also has oss so it should be more stable than the Sigma.

I am so glad I came across you and this video. I am fairly new to my set up of an a6400 and a Sigma 16mm 1.4. I create talking head style videos/livestreaming from a desk in a converted bedroom. Currently I have the mode dial set to movie, app f.4, ISO 100, 25FPS and 50 shutter. Currently I have the shutter trigger button on the front set to start recording video to save finding the recessed red record button on the rear. Now, here's my question.... If I set the mode dial to "A" will pressing the same shutter button just take a photo of me? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm old lol - Cheers, Peter.
@joshuabutlermusic3 жыл бұрын
Not a stupid question at all. Yes if you have it set to any mode other than movie mode it will just take a picture. However the small red record button on the back will still activate record video.

@@joshuabutlermusic Thanks - so when you did your VLOG you had to reach round for the small red button yes?
@joshuabutlermusic3 жыл бұрын
@@PeterMossUkulele I had it set to movie mode but set to A thru the settings so I was still able to hit the shutter button to record. The only time you can’t is if you have the dial set to something other than movie mode.

Thank you so much. I’m glad it helped. I’m actually going to come out with a video soon on my settings for the A6400 and how they are different for inside/outside.
