I love how PP was sort of in the background of the Melee scene for awhile, and then he just shows up to a completely loaded Apex and wins.

I wasn't ever a big fan of PP until he disappeared for a while. I watched quite a bit of his games when he wasn't around and man, he was just SO good. It's hard not to like the guy. I probably wasn't crazy about him cause he would beat my favorite players, but now he's one of my favorites to watch. His reaction time is so good and he just plays so intelligently. Before the tournament I was thinking it would be really awesome if he were to win.

Seems like these guys think very mechanically. When I play sport, I basically don't think. I just play, it's natural. I think a little bit but not too much. Seems like PPMD is really good watching his opponent and analysing data.
@Spenceland9 жыл бұрын
+cpthurme That act of it being "natural" is actually being really good at watching your opponents and analysing data. You do it the same way. The data is just less organic in smash, than in a physical sport. But still pretty organic-- he's analysing someone's decision making, how someone adapts--- he is like a wolf watching a fawn.

Is his complain about the TV thing legit? Does the refresh really affect your play?
@Judai649 жыл бұрын
I would like to know this as well. I bought a BenQ monitor and I would like to know if this is affecting me. I want to enter a tournament and I don't want to be so off when I play on a CRT.
@BorgMuffinMan9 жыл бұрын
+Judai64 Yes, CRT monitors have zero display lag, while the display on any HD monitor, even super high quality ones, would at the least be roughly 1 frame. Because the game looks no better on an HD monitor than a CRT, and because the CRT has less lag, and because CRTs are so much cheaper, they only play on them at tournaments. However, if you play on a BenQ and you want to enter a tournament you will perform just as well on a CRT. CRTs also have a different refresh pattern, which can mess up people when they switch to LCDs if they only play on CRTs.
@Judai649 жыл бұрын
+BorgMuffinMan Sounds good to me man. Sorry for the super late response. Would you know anything about an Asus monitor? I'm thinking about getting one.
@BorgMuffinMan9 жыл бұрын
Judai64 I love asus monitors, they seem to be the best price/performace ratio compared to any monitors I can find. I got one for roughly 110 bucks and it's the best monitor I've ever had

@cadehicks82739 жыл бұрын
+BorgMuffinMan do they really tax tourney winnings? I've never heard of that. I guess it's only for big tournaments.
@BorgMuffinMan9 жыл бұрын
ThatNintendoBro yeah tournament winnings are placed in a similar tax category to lotto winnings and that kind of stuff. The company that runs Apex is so big they have to register all of their activities with the gov't, otherwise they would be in some serious shit, so everything they do is taxed
