It is crazy how there is a meta game for every single aspect of this game, from characters, to stages, even to little silly things like RPS before matches or for controller ports. Hungry box starts counter picking Amsa to dreamland to time him out? Well guess what, Amsa will get really clean at platform movement, and get so good that he now times you out easier than the other way around. Well, guess your forced to now go to FD against Yoshi instead. One little meta game that constructs just a single matchup. Now imagine how many there are across all of melee.

Amsa is insane, 5 years ago if you told me yoshi would be competitively viable at this level… I would not believe it. There have always been a select few characters that you pick if you want to win in this game. Fox, falco, shiek, and marth. Very few have taken a character to this level on their back alone, hbox with puff, armada with peach, and now amsa with yoshi. It’s not just a gimmick, it’s the real deal. And he did it through dedicated practice, without a huge scene in Japan.

@@gerradwalker346 puff has incredible flight enabling him to choose when he wants to go in. Yoshi has decent flight but makes up for it with being able to take many hits with the super shield. All in all not crazy differences but enough to make them unique in their respective play style

@@gerradwalker346 Puff is very much a glass cannon, floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee. Yoshi is more like a traditional type of defensive character, a “tank”. Puffs defensive ability comes from her ability to not get hit. Yoshis comes from his ability to get hit and still live, and sometimes hit you right back like nothing even happened to him.

amsa's very existence is the healthiest thing for the game right now. He's living proof that this game is not solved, not even slightly. It's not 2014 anymore, Yoshi's not a blindside pick. He's been two-stocking gods for almost a decade, they all know what's up by now. There's some magic in the formula that amsa's tapped into. It's one part skill, one part hard work, one part Yoshi's latent potential and 0% luck.

I got sweaty watching hungrybox vs. zain. I think it's how marth needs like 20 openings to kill and puff can easily kill in 1. The only reason I think that match up is okay is because marth also wins neutral like 20 to 1

@@voodooedits785 The reason Hbox keeps losing against zain is because puff should have a conistent edge guard against marth but he keeps missing it. There was a absurd amount of times zain should have died but didn't. Thats the main reason people say Marh has a losing matchup. But becase a mixture of zains god tier recovery ability and Hbox has not complelety mastered the marth edge guards zain lives much larger then he should have and puff loses the main advantage she should have.

@@Sir_Robin_of_Camelot Amsa definitely has a case for current number 1 after winning multiple stacked tournaments in short order. IBDW is getting there with so many top 4's and a Major win. Zain always seems to bounce back and win tournaments after getting beat. On the other hand, HBOX needs to show more consistency in makimg top 3's, and Mango needs to show he can consistently perform in multiple big tournaments outside of his region that aren't invitation only closed environments.
