I hope japanese, and china manufacture companies does recognize the passion that other side of the world have. We are have to pay triple or double the price compared to their average customer, due to shipping, yet we still do it. I hope there is a way apex is able to learn, going all out isn't neccessary the best, as your average figure collector also deal space issues with boxes.

A bit of extra info which i didn't mention in the video, is that mainland Chinese consumers in general like to judge products based on packaging. Literally judging things by the cover. I believe that is partly why Apex went overboard, to justify the price by impressing their customers in China. This isn't limited to figures. Buying a box of cookies, or stationery, or any consumer product you can think of - they expect a gift-like packaging. The more expensive the product is, the higher the expectations.

Your review is so clear and easy to follow! I completely agree that the shipping seems prohibitive because of the costs. The figure itself definitely stands out. I almost wonder whether getting someone to unbox the figure and carefully packaging it again in a more reasonable way might be a route to avoid these issues.

I was just checking this out on play-Asia, it went from a reasonable price to a NO when I saw the shipping, I really wanted to buy it, but the figure and the shipping are more expensive than an oled switch and almost the same price as Series X or PS5. That damn box

Yeah i was def surprised at the 100$ shipping its half of what i paid for the figure. I also got the klee one and was expecting a simple box like it had but i guess bec she's the Tianquan they went all out on her figure and her box. Now if we could just get Zhongli this fancy. Don't know if id use the box for display as it block too much of the figure imo so id rather just have the non window side be behind her on a shelf.

You're welcome. I actually have a couple of friends from Brazil who do photography of Anime figures. I've always wondered how much they spend on these figures because Japan is like half a planet away in distance, so shipping costs must be crazy.

This figure is amazing, the shipping price was a surprise, but I know it was worth it. Ningguang is one of the biggest and coolest figures I own. The only two that I'm missing are Hoshiguma and Jeanne d'arc.

Thank you for the review! Love the figure - I was considering canceling since my initial hype died down but seeing how gorgeous she is, good thing I didn`t. The weight is bummers but on the other hand maybe I could use the SAL option - it would be still higher than originally estimated but at least with the wooden box probably there would be no issues. It would be still cheaper than my local reseller with around 100 euro

I didn't realize the figure already released in the chinese market until someone told me. I had this on preorder through amiami and now I'm super scared about the shipping prices. I didn't know there would be a wooden box of any type. I was expecting a big box because of all the things in it but I was hoping it would be a normal big cardboard box like other figures. This has me scared of Keqing because if they put her in a wooden box too then that's a big RIP.

It was the same with Paimon and Klee, where the China market release was several months earlier. I would say there's zero chance of Keqing getting a wooden box because that isn't a premium figure with lots of extra parts like Ningguang. Apex is marketing this figure as a premium product, though I'm not sure if a wooden box is the right way to do it. By the way, according to Apex, Keqing has been delayed by 1 month. The China batch was supposed to come out with this month in September, but now pushed to October.

DHL? As weird as this may sound, that's reasonable shipping cost. DHL is also my favorite courier, but i don't use it as often due to the cost.

I got a very expensive shipping price and as you said some people will cancel bc of that which i nearly did bc the price of the shipping is a price i could spend on another figure. I did get her in the end bc she is a stunning figure, but defs would of liked 2 different ver. one without the box, as much as the box feels special I don't need it, it's already up hidden in my closest :/

the shipping costs are always as expensive as the figure itself which kinda hurts... im glad that ems is working again but still 17000yen for shipping... thats a whole new figure... i hate it and dont get me going on taxes in germany... 19% for everything + figurine exclusive tax of 4.8% ... tho last time i had to pay even more (around 30% taxes on the total price + shipping, so nearly 100 $ / € on top (i dont even know why))

Thank you very much for posting an unboxing and review! The figure looks amazing and I have no regrets in purchasing it. While that box looks amazing, it is going to kill my wallet when it comes to shipping to the US. Really wish they did exactly as you mentioned which was having a deluxe edition and a "normal" edition. Knew a lot of people who wanted to buy the figure but the high cost kept them away.

ya...after seeing how much it weighs....i sort of wanted to cancel the order but I ordered from taobao and received the bonus items (last year i think) so I dont think i can ask for a refund..... especially when I ordered 2 ningguang (one to keep and one for my friend who wants one).

Yes that's correct. Once the preorder bonus item has been shipping, there is no refund. If you wanted to cancel you'll have to cancel before that free gift was shipped.

I haven't tried that to be honest. But with the figure being 27cm tall at the highest point, while the box is much taller, I'd say it's possible.

@@drewholiday5085 you are welcome. The figure is actually shorter than some 1/7 scales, even including the background plate, because she's seated. That backdrop piece is not a wall but a traditional Chinese style partition. Those are usually quite low unlike modern partitions, around the height of an average person, so it's not that tall.

I share your thoughts about japanese brands putting high price for their nice figure but without proper protection box. My Amakuni Saber Alter came with a bad condition box, but luckily the figure itself got no damage. By the way, you didn't order her with the wall scroll bonus, I presume?

The box is a really complicated thing in the sense that if they do more, it increases size and weight for collectors to deal with. Do less and the figure is vulnerable. But I'm certain they do the bare minimum not out of consideration for customers, but to cut cost. Almost all corporate businesses out there do the same thing - trying too hard to cut cost. All that was really needed, is a tougher, harder box. A few of Aniplex's figures had that kind of box. I wished it's more common. I did receive a free gift during preorder after placing my deposit. It wasn't a wall scroll but something else.

Base is 29x29cm, height including the background piece is 27cm. She will fit in a detolf, but takes up an entire compartment.

No. The figure is fixed to the chair. But you don't necessarily need everything else to display the figure. You can display figure and chair only if space is a concern.

This is a figure that is just meh. The face is nice, but the sculpt and paint is no to me(especially the gold line and accessories details)China manufacturers up untill now is still nowhere able to reach the amount of details that Japan manufacturing companies provide especially for the amount of money China brands are charging us. I owned alot of figures from manufacture brands like myethos, hobbymax etc. Honestly the reason I chose to support them is basically the IP they chose for their figures like Inuyasha, Onmyoji etc.

They usually use sea freight to save on operating costs (that's why local stores stock in late), and they can just pass on the costs to consumers.

I haven't tried it yet, but i believe there are two screws diagonal to each other that you need to unscrew to access the battery, if you can't open the round cap in the middle. Unfortunately instructions weren't clear. Battery is not included with the figure inside, you need to buy a CR1632 button battery yourself.
