As you can see its limitations...wipe on clear has its place. There are now many to choose from.

Brian, I think you did a remarkable job. You can only do so much to increase your value without wasting money. Great segment that is easy to do. Thanks for showing us this…. John

This was exciting to watch. I have a hunch you will re-spray no matter how much the shop manager tries to entice you to go for a walk instead .

Looks good, only thing I would’ve done differently was use a flexible sponge block sander, it minimizes the waves. Overall this was a good budget repair

Like magic! Any mention how long it needs to cure before you can ceramic coat over it?
@apexdetail854 күн бұрын
24hr minimum.

I am impressed. I would probably sand down first then spray base coat back on then clear with it. Would not take much more time and it would probably come out almost perfect. For me it's mostly the time needed. I am mobile so I have to be able to do everything within a single visit. So the question is, how long does it take to dry enough to be able to wetsand it. I think it's a great product, especially because you don't need to wear PPE to use it other than gloves. And no overspreay to everyting around. Obviously if you use basecoat in a spray can, you will have to worry about overspray though.
@apexdetail854 күн бұрын
I waited 24 hrs before sanding.

How long did you wait before wetsanding? Can it be done within an hour or so or do you have to wait for a day or more?
@apexdetail854 күн бұрын
24 hrs is recommended.
@442olds74 күн бұрын
Could you use regular clear coat and hardener and do the same thing? Wipe it on and only mix up a tiny amount instead of gearing up a spray gun and all that stuff.
@apexdetail854 күн бұрын
It does not "self level" like this stuff does.
@monoralph13754 күн бұрын
Not perfect, but much improved. I would be pleased with the result on a 10 year old Honda. I will be trying my hand on some rust spots when the spring arrives.

I did....but the clear did not agree with it.
@atikovi14 күн бұрын
$30 of materials and an hour or two of your time vs. $300 at a body shop. For a 10 year old car it's a no brainer. 10 feet away you can't tell anyway.

My thought is that the spot is going to drive you crazy until you fix it. You only stop when there is no more that can be done. I can tell from our body language that you are not satisfied. That is why I watch your videos because i know that when you do a job I am learning how to do it correctly and not just enough to get by.
@apexdetail854 күн бұрын
You are correct....I re sprayed it. :)
@gogators57624 күн бұрын
Brian, my belief is that your original assessment was re spray. But this made for a great video! I also agree, I could tell you weren't satisfied with the result's! Jumped in the comments and this great comment is exactly my take!
@darrenwilliamson79444 күн бұрын
For the time you put into the Patina application and your return investment/profit...........I wouldn't spend the time and effort in sanding and painting. It's a used vehicle that looks much better in that spot. It's a Honda, and now a CLEAN Honda, so that's where your profit is coming from, not trying to make it perfect and the time and effort in doing so. My opinion only.
