How many of you have added wet sanding to your arsenal?

I've done some wet sanding from time to time (I'm just a DIY guy and not a pro) after seeing instruction from you a couple years ago. It's really satisfying to be able to sand and polish damaged paint and have it look new again. Great video Brian.

I love your sanding videos and these sanding discs are affordable and don’t require an interface like the Meguiars sanding sheets I have. Thank you for letting me know about these products which I will pick up tomorrow. Thank you for the video.

Looks great. Nice demonstration! I've always been scared to sand the paint (not knowing enough), but you made it look easy.

Great video Brian and product review. I do very little sanding but when I have I also go to your videos for help.

I don't think that was clear coat coming off the panel I think is the residue off the sanding disc😂

Thanks Brian. My local body shop gave me a hood and a couple of doors so I could learn to wet sand. Such a good video. Thanks!

I personally prefer starting off with 3m wet/dry 1000grit with a sanding block like dura block or norton holy block, then 2000grit then i move to a 3M trizact disc on my DA sander, then 5000 grit 3m trizact disc. Trizact disc last a really long time and are the best out there

While using the sand paper, you were using a rotary, what speed were you at for the 1,000 and 2,000 grit?
@MonikaWilliams-m1y2 ай бұрын
Hey, thank you for all the content, info, and effort throughout the years. I currently have an issue where I dug too deep, leaving an impression, into the clear using your pencil/2500 grit method working on some paint chips. First time having this issue using your methods. How do you advise trying to correct the eraser sized impression left made? Work out wider starting with 1000 grit, or maybe less aggressive, and stepping down? Also been having some issues removing the 3000 grit marks using a single cross pass with orange foam/AW Redemption or even the Uro/3D One (worked slightly better). Paint is a 2007 BMW 335i.

Brian you are about to save my bacon with this video. I have wet sanded several times by hand, never by machine, yet. What speed would you recommend running the polisher at for the wet sanding? Same as usual, 3-4 moving 1-2 inch per second? Thank you!
@justintime44665 ай бұрын
Always wondered if you can have a 5” backing plate and use a 6” disc. Do you recommend stepping up through the whole grit range 1000-3000 or can you just go 1000 and hop to 3000?
@westcoasttools51796 ай бұрын
Brian, the previous owner of my truck got a paint job that wasn’t the best quality resulting in a finish covered in orange peel. I have corrected it to the 75-80% range .I’m wondering if it is worth to try clearing up the orange peel or if that would be too taxing on my clear coat. Thank you and great video.

Thank you for this information wanting to add this to my services. Would these also work on heavily oxidized gel coat on boats?
@malachi23716 ай бұрын
Another question… Since it avoids heating the plastic, why not wet sand, the entire car rather than using polishes that could heat the clearcoat?

Hi! Can you possibly do a content from beginning to the end about this situation? I have a 93 Mercedes Benz 300e that has never been garaged. It’s my dad’s car. In any event, the roof, the hood, & the trunk is bad. Bad to the point that the clear coat has almost entirely peeled off & the paint is now like matte. How would you tackle this? My dad for whatever reason doesn’t want to clear coat. He wants to remove the clear coat & then polish it to shine.

I've lightly flatten factory orange peel in the past (most of hood/fenders/doors/top of trunk w/1500 grit. Going down to knee-ish level to achieve a deep wet (no pun) shine.

@micd92566 ай бұрын
Agreed. More water. Always keep your sanding media soaked. Don’t hesitate to switch out media for your final pass at any grit if you are at all concerned about residue that isn’t flushing out easily.
