The idea of bringing the "condition" of aphantasia to greater awareness with this animation is great, I didn't know about it until watching a (might have been SciShow) video describing it as "the inability to form a mental picture." While the animations may not be entirely smooth it flows well and has a good message that art can be created differently and everyone's mind works in a different way. I have the opposite issue, I can clearly see an image in my mind but it's translating the visual to a drawing that comes out differently than I see it. The final moment of the animation is adorable when the painting is described as "looks like a circus to me" before the cat-like growl at being told he was adopted from one. It definitely makes them come across as being siblings with both supporting each other and later harassing each other

This is really special and I like it. 🙂 I don't have aphantasia but I have something my therapist calls alexithymia. Basically just a fancy word that means I don't understand my more complex emotions like everyone else. I have complex trauma so I have a lot of really complicated emotions! For myself they are really abstract like unidentifiable blobs. I have to work extra hard at dismantling them and identifying them. That makes working through stuff take a little longer in therapy because I have to figure out what my problem emotion even is in the first place and then work to sort it out. It's not the same but I kind of vibed with this when she talked about how our brains all work a little differently.

Wow, this short film was an absolute delight to watch. The artwork looks so dreamy and whimsical and immediately uplifted my mood just looking at it, the voice acting was lovely and genuinely sounded like a natural conversation between two kids, and the pacing and story telling was lovely to watch. As someone who found out they have aphantasia when they were a bit older (like 16-17) its weird to think how upset I would have been if I found out as a kid.(I found out when my sister who was a med student back then - now a practicing doctor - came home for the holidays and mentioned this cool thing she learned about and I was like - You are telling me that when people say "picture it in your head - they mean that literally?")

As someone who doesn’t have aphantasia but is an artist who loves the concept that people don’t need visual thoughts to make art. I see stuff in my head, but usually I just draw what feels right. I like knowing that as artists, we’re not so different. We just think differently. This was so cute btw! I love your character Timothy and this was so dang wholesome! Your art is beautiful. Keep drawing with words. :) Adding on cause I felt this needed something more. Another thing I wanted to say is, even though it’s difficult sometimes, you still make wonderful art! You are amazing, and I’m glad you never let anyone let you down because “you need to see your thoughts 👺👹🙄😒” and continued your passion because you are a very special, talented person who doesn’t need anything but words to draw. You are brilliant. To us visual thinkers who grew up thinking the way we did, you are like that kid who rode his bike with one hand all the time. Everything's spatial for me. I remember faces by recalling a ¾ profile of people's faces, along with attributes like skin quality, hair and eyes, for example. If I can kludge together a bunch of aspects of a thing, I can get a concept across. Im also an artist with aphantasia. I draw from memory, muscle memory! I usually dont picture something before i draw it and usually dont feel disapointed because i didnt have an expextation to fulfill. I almost never use reference images, but work from a 3dimentional understanding of what im drawing. My imagination is more bound to the sense of touch than the sense of sight.

YES THAT MAKES SENSE Jamie's video about aphantasia which I have linked in my little desc! Actually helps figure out if you do or not with a little test! Basically telling you to close your eyes and trying to envision an apple in your minds eye and they continue the video by listing the levels of aphantasia (its a spectrum) because some people can very vivdly/faintly see an apple so theyd rank higher from 0-10 on the visibiality of an apple scale, but as for me ima 0 I see absolutely nothing no apple😭 BUT YEAH I also know and can remember what things look like, but some people have basically a portable projector in their minds where they can literally see and conjur up an apple if they close their eyes, it blew my mind when I found out.

I understand what an apple sitting on my counter would look like, and I understand what an apple on a tree overlooking a lake should look like, but actually visually seeing it when I close my eyes seems to just be a lie lol. God, this made me emotional I guess, because I didn't find out I had aphantasia until I was a young...er, adult. And kinda had to relearn how to draw once I found out For me... The best way I can describe it, is if you close your eyes, or are in a room where you can't see anything. And you move your hands around. You can't see them, but you know where they are, and what you're doing with them That's how it's like for me, and my imagination And while I don't do it a lot, I can draw from memory. Only simple thing, that aren't a person/character. But still So I can, kinda draw a rose. Since I remember how one looks, I just can't see it in my head
