I became obsessed with this song recently. Two years ago I met a guy and spent time with him within the confines of a weekend. Those small moments spurred a sequence of events for me, all strung together by the thread that was cast in meeting him. I found out recently he is getting married soon. I’m not depressed about it. I’m.... whatever this song is evoking. Like it’s asking me out of everything that has happened over two years to go back to the source, the small weekend I felt alive.

8 months ago I started to develop severe depression due to not having a job and sitting around all day. I had no plans and thought about suicide all the time. I found this song and sat in the dark for hours listening to this on repeat. I found that music that reciprocates the feelings you feel can help you feel a little less alone in this confusing world. I found a job and got right back on my feet. I got some good friends and had some absolutely amazing times. It was like a dream. I got fired from that job the other day for ridiculous reasons and I feel so unbelievably heartbroken that I don't get to see them anymore. I'm back to listening on repeat again. At least I got me.😞

This has me feeling some sort of way. It takes me somewhere. I just envision an astronaut whose tether broke off the space station. Just floating, weightless in nothingness without hope. No one can save them and they're the lonliest human alive. The only thing they can do is look down at the Earth below them and listen to the sound of their breath before they run out of oxygen. The planet looks like they could reach out and touch it, it's blue expanses teeming with life, such a beautiful image. Their vision begins to blur and they slowly slip into a sleep that they will never awake from. It's peaceful as they fade away even though they were never able to come back home. So close but so far away.

The current day is June 5th, 2022. Most of humanity have lost hope. The coronavirus about 7/8 of the world's population and most of the world's food sources are gone and people depend on cannabalism to stay alive. As I'm running in the night for nighttime is really bad, a sudden white light blinds me. I can barely see and my eyes but in the distance, I can tell the shape of a mushroom cloud that appeared to be about 6000 feet. Tears suddenly fall down my cheeks, knowing society was gone for good, but then a voice came to my head. It spoke low but it sounded like a man in his late 30's. 'Do not fear my child. I'll make a new place where there will be no more tears, no more pain, no more depression, no more sorrow and no more death. There will be no more sin left at all, for the next generation will be reborn.' I can feel the heat come closer and my skin frying away, knowing my time has finally come, taking the last breath of fresh air I will enjoy. And the last thing I saw was a silhouette of a man with long hair and appeared to be in a robe reach out, pulled me close to him. My vision was blurry to get close detail of his face, but I could barely make out his baby blue colored eyes with tears coming and a brown mustache and a beard. He smiled at me and said 'I will see you on the other side, for the time had come.' He hugged me and I faintly hugged him back while smiling, knowing I will be reborn. Then it went black. Edit: This took me an half a hour and its 2 in the morning😂

I stare blankly at the mushroom cloud, I know now that my body, and the atoms I once called my own, will start their journey across the universe, to be one with the universe. Some of these atoms will be used to create new life, create stones, lava, dirt, trees, who knows what all of those atoms will go towards. But that... that is what awaits us after death, and is the most beautiful afterlife one could ask for...

I’m so happy someone made this. I listen to this + Benoit’s rendition about as much as I listen to the original, each for different types of moods and even times where I’m trying to get through the workday. Each of the three have a different type of vibe, and I can’t thank you enough for putting this together.
@olseaweedbeardye86222 жыл бұрын
Benoit’s version reminds me of the feeling of nostalgia. With the nostalgia you usually remember certain scenes from your childhood or maybe just a year or two back, and a picture of it plays in your head in a obviously more distorted way that your brain remembers it as, kinda like a dream. For me most of my nostalgia is more nice and comforting for the most part. For example, every time that Fall hits and the leaves change color I’m always reminded of hanging out with my friends outside or just the calming tone that comes with the season… That’s what Benoits version feels like to me. It’s just a simple loop of a distorted, foggy sound. Even the album art for it has old faded colors that look like they come from the space age aesthetic. The original version and this give me more of a present time/future type of view. The soundscape is a lot more open and free-form with the sound of the the two stones being hit together coming in and out, and slowing down or speeding up. Then towards the end the 3 chords being played slow down and stretch. It makes me ponder on my life currently and how I see my life in the future.

I had a dream. I was on an island. A tiny rock island in the middle of the sea. With nothing around it. The island was a rocky hill, and at the foot of the hill a small grassy patch. There were no trees on this island. No beach, no coral reefs. The waves were calm. I woke up in a sleeping bag that was on the grassy patch. My best friend was there. He was already awake and throwing rocks into the water. We decided the climb the hill. Once we got to the top we looked out over the ocean. It was beautiful. Empty. Calm. We were not worried about food or water. We were just hanging out on this island. From the top of the hill I said, “let’s put a house in the grassy patch” My friend said, “what about all our stuff?” Soon, a concrete foundation rose up. Wooden framing. Electrical, pipes, air conditioning. All spring up. Then a coat of paint came on the house. It was a small one story house. We walked into it. Inside the house there were no rooms or hallways, just a big room. At the back there were white couches that blended in with the white walls, and a fireplace. On the couch sat another of my friends. He was looking at his iPad, watching a video. We tried to talk to him, but he didn’t answer. “Oh well that’s Kail for ya!” I said. I walked outside and then there were a bunch of cliffs that weren’t there. I peered of them as if I’d known them my whole life. I just sat looking at the drop into the sea, feeling peaceful. I was saying to myself that I wanted to fly out, and I hoped that I would not find land. It was such a peaceful and meditative dream. The friends I had not seen in months, but it was like we were back to normal again. I don’t know the meaning of the dream, just glad it happened.

I had a dream last night. I was sat in an exam hall with an around 100 people. She was sitting next to me. I apologised for everything. She smiled at me and said it’s all going to be okay. She started crying. The hall started to flood from her tears. I kept trying to say sorry but she wouldn’t stop crying. But she wasn’t sad. She was happy. Then we all started drowning. I then woke up from the drowning and was in a playground - swinging on a swing. I hope you are out there. Take care
