Mikey went up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan aka the U.P. for the 12 annual Apocalypse Run and got the low down from Reece Zylstra (founder and organizer of the run). Learn how the run started, how it has lasted this long, and why choppers only for the most part. Also, see some of what the riding looks like up there, and the fun that goes on all weekend long. The U.P. is one of the last lawless frontiers and no one really wants 80 plus chopper guys partying and hanging out at their establishments. Thank god for Heather and the Strongs Tavern for all of their hospitality.

Hell yeah, our group of 20 guys just went up there on a bike trip and one of our camp sites fell through, we stumbled across Heather's bar, she was more than welcoming and let us camped in the field next to the place. Strongs Tavern rocks, place is awesome.

looks awesome, not sure if I can financially get bike ready to do long trips, just a working stiff, trying to survive, but my bike sucks for 200 mile trips, it is a solid mount seat, lowered excessively, so no cushion, not even in the seat, but I did attempt to head to Copper Harbor like 20 years ago, on my old shovel, but 600 miles from home outside Detroit, I broke my headlight off at 1am, hanging by the wires, i had duct tape & coat hanger, but then master cylinder started leaking, & me with only $300 to my name, gave up & went home, & never tried again.

I watched your video about your visit to the U.P. and you have a few facts incorrect. I have been riding for a few years with 130,000 miles on my bike (2009 ultra purchased in 2010) a 500 mile ride is a normal day’s ride for my wife and I. We have been to every state (with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii) and all of the Canadian Provinces. To start with you cannot do anything you want to…burn outs and whatever in Strongs / Eckerman area…remember although it is called the U.P. it is still Michigan and local authorities frown on that type of behavior. You still have a lot of locals that live there that although appreciate the revenue you bring to their community do not appreciate the associated costs. I have been told this type of behavior have exiled you from the Trout Lake area. As for the Tavern across from Heather’s place (Strong’s Tavern) it is called the Lumberjack Tavern and Rex and Mary that run it are great. If you come in with a group 12-20 people you are told where to sit…If you have done any organizing or managed any sizable groups ( and I don’t mean a free for all where 40 people get together) a planned thing you would appreciate what Mary does…based on your group she seats people with menus under her arm…then takes your drink orders …by the time she is back with your drinks she then takes your food order…minimizing your wait time…I have been to dozen of bars with large groups where you wait forever to get a drink, food or fall between the cracks and get nothing or the wrong order. Mary and Rex are majorly organized…FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE. To say they don’t like motorcycle is so wrong….they have motorcycle groups…four wheelers…snow sleds…tourist going east and west and they are “TREATED LIKE FAMILY” Before you make statements like you have you should know the facts Kinross has the Well Digger’s… (ASS) a super bar run by Jeff with awesome food and drinks, pool tables, horse shoes and evening events Rudyard has Huck’s Tavern a excellent place to go again food and drinks Thursday night “Bike Night” with a band and great commodore with local bikers In trout Lake (where you use to go Burning Donuts on M-123 (by the way M-28 and M-123 have a speed like of 65 miles per hour) kind of a dumb place to be doing donuts don’t you think there is the Buckhorn Tavern, Paula’s place great food and drinks…but you were there this time so you know how what a great place it is. I am Canadian and proud to experience the U.P. establishments and their owner and I resent anyone saying mislead information about our Mom and Pop Places…there are not many of them left I personally think you owe Rex and Mary an apology for the things you stated on your blog/youtube video
