@@vasstagoarchipelagus5954 well for me this song makes me think of my father. He was never there and when he was he emotionally and verbally abusive. I am in the process of healing and recovering from the depression he caused and I don't care if he lives or dies as long as he does it as far away as possible from me. It may sound harsh but how can anyone expect me to miss a man I never really knew? He didn't even try to be a good father

@@d.r429 Although Not many will understand, they have not been in our shoes. I always get “she’s your mother no matter what” I had to finally cut her off. She see’s nothing wrong with her abuse in which I endured for years. The person who was suppose to love & care for you. I’m a damaged person and because of what she put me through, some stuff still affects me today. I feel mixed emotions. You do what’s best for you because at the end of the day, you only have yourself. People will turn on you and hurt you. Work on becoming a better person & healing. Look for answers which means facing the past. Sometimes you won’t find answers nor understand why but know you are worth so much. Don’t ever feel like you ain’t.

@@vasstagoarchipelagus5954 It means, after 28 years of marriage and almost losing my mind when he left me I realized one day I didn't owe him anything. He only took and I only gave and after you give all you can, it's not possible to care anymore. Don't know if he's dead or alive 15 year later, and it's the most free I have felt since I was 25. I was not the selfish one, and now my life is finally my own.

100% correct lyrics (single edit of the song): I try to make it through my life In my way, there’s you I try to make it through these lies And that’s all I do Just don’t deny it Don’t try to fight this And deal with it And that’s just part of it [Chorus:] If you were dead or still alive I don’t care, I don’t care Just go and leave this all behind ‘Cause I swear (I swear), I don’t care I try to make you see my side I always try to stay in line But your eyes see right through That’s all they do I’m getting buried in this place I got no room, you’re in my face Don’t say anything, Just go away [Chorus] (Not changing everything) (‘Cause you won’t be there for me) (Not changing everything) (‘Cause you won’t be there for me) [Chorus:] If you were dead or still alive I don’t care, I don’t care Just go and leave this all behind ‘Cause I swear (I swear), I don’t care If you were dead or still alive I don’t care (I don’t care), I don’t care (I don’t care) Just go and leave this all behind I don’t care (I swear), I don’t care At all…

I remember many years ago I saw Skillet and Three Days Grace open for Alice In Chains and Stone Temple Pilots. During 3DG set, some of the band members of Skillet joined on stage to do a rendition of this song. To this day, this song still brings out so many emotions.

this song reminds me of a toxic relationship when you go through the thoughts of i dont care i hate you you try showing tem. in reality you do care and love the person dispite the pain they put you though. you keep trying to push them away but they end up hurting you and crawl back in your life

This song hurts. A lot. Not because I was the victim, but because I was the abuser. After a lot of help I grew a conscious, and realized the damage I did. And seeing the shit I caused? How I broke her like I did? I have permanent regret issues now. I don't think I'll ever really atone for that. This.... This song is just a living reminder of what I did. And that's why I listen to it. It's helping me nail into my brain what I did to someone. And making sure I never make that mistake again. It's been around 4 or 5 years since I tried to amend what I did, and I'm no closer. But this song is a perfect encapsulation of what it's like to be a victim to my limited understanding, from talking to her to try to fix this. And it's amazing to hear, while still... Painful. Feel free to harass, I probably deserve it. I fucked up bad.
