This song always brings tears to my eyes. It was the first movie to do so as an adult and it is because there is a part during it, when the capsule loses contact during the return to earth that it shows everyone watching and you can just feel that, for four minutes, humanity forgot about it's squabbles and remembered that we are all together on this earth, that we all ultimately want the same thing. It gave me hope, something that only space can do. It is where our future is. Its where we belong

Annie Lennox and her voice here is haunting in a way. Long gone is this 10 year old boy watching the old television as humanity "slipped the bonds of earth" and did something that still seems like science fiction. Now I just piddle around the house with my dogs. Yet, early each morning I look up at the moon and wonder when we will return.

I always loved this movie because for once the world wasn't fighting to make money, or even gain anything, the world was united in a fight to bring three men, mostly unknown until the accident, home again. ignoring the cost, in time, money, and pride. now a days we don't fight for people like that we shrug, but back then. we didn't abandon people to fate.

I love this movie watched it to many times to count and then when I heard about James Horner's death man this song was playing in my mind with joy and sadness at the same time. He was a great composer who may not have walked on the moon nor did this crew, but he most certainly made us feel like we did with this wonderful music soundtrack. I'm sorry to hear that, it was a great spacecraft concept and could'ive flown easerly by current rockets and not by those new ones being devloped just for it, take Aries out and it'll be far cheeper and adapt Atlas and Delta. That and I'd have never gone with the Shuttle. Anyway I'm sorry about your house and husbands job and hope you two find a new place soon.

Totally sucks NASA got shut down while bloated government programs stay afloat. As a child of the '80s, I can remember the dream that was space exploration and discovery... the magic of wanting to be an astronaut. Its a shame these dreams fell apart. But I swear one day we'll go back... we MUST go back into space.

YEs space is scary with our present technology. But we have been goinginto space for millions, yes millions of years. It is long past due that wereturn to space and the many star systems that we seeded over thepast many millennium. After all we came from space. We are Star creatures and we are quite comfortable in space, even without suits.

This reminds me how bad I used to want to go to space and be an astronaut and walk on the moon. But there's waaay too much math involved for me so I think anybody out there who really wants to go for it you should. For me, it's just something i could only wish for.
