I think adding front turn signals are definitely an easy solution with some relays. 60v will be stupid fast, I would be very satisfied with the 52V. I could really use this scooter today, but since I don’t have safety gear yet like a full face helmet I am probably going to settle for a simple bicycle to get around till the phantom is available.

I'm content with my Mantis but I've always wanted more speed, something akin to the Wolf Warrior would be perfect! I would have upgraded but I'm not a big fan of the Wolf's overall aesthetic & lack of portability. The Mantis on the other hand, I love the aesthetic & the portability but still want more oomph. This in the Ludo model looks close enough to the Mantis aesthetic with that little bit more power I've been looking for... Keen as hell for summer! 🤟😝🤟

I canceled my phantom 52v order for the Vsett 10+ . Vsett has so much more going for it. First 60v vs 52v. 28ah battery vs 23. Dual 1400w motors vs 1200w motors. Way better kickstand, LG battery's vs Dynavolt. 50 mph top speed in sport mode with a lighter weight rider which i am. Better charging port location imo. Phantom does win in regards to display but I am worried about how dim it is. Its useless if I can't see it. It has a better headlight location then the vsett 10+. Better repairability but I don't plan to ride my scooter very hard at all. I like the vsett for thr huge battery. At slow speeds of 15- 20 mph I should get 35 -45 miles imo in eco mode maybe more as I only weight 67kg. No range anxiety

I felt your guys were in love with this scooter when it was first announced. Now that I own one and we are seeing the stem break (apollo is fixing this), I wanted to watch this review again. Not sure how you missed that there is a 'dead' spot in the throttle (apollo is fixing this - actually its not a dead spot - its basically an on and off switch - on accelerating and off - decelerating). The display is no where near bright enough (apollo is fixing this). My Apollo Air 3X cheaper and the ride is better and has a better throttle and the display is brighter. No idea why Apollo put such a cheap throttle lever on the scooter but at least they are fixing it. The rear guard cover hits the wheel on every bump (they fixed this by sending out new parts), the glue on the rubber mat - come on - can't the factory even glue on a mat - the air 3x cheaper is perfect. The scooter wasn't ready to be sold, but they clearly care about their customers and are working to fix these issues. However I think the ESG review was way too generous. The rear fender, the dead throttle and the display should have been easily caught in your review. To be honest I felt like they gave you a kick-back for all the promotion you did for them but its just a hunch. There are other issues - odemeters resets for no reason, front lights aren't blinking like real lights etc. but the ones mentioned before are the key ones. I suspect by V2 the scooter or V3 the scooter will be amazing, but I think we need to see more balanced reviews with more critical comments and independence instead of being simply the Apollo fanboys. I say all the above as someone who still likes Apollo as a brand and company. In the long terms if Apollo can get through this, they should become a stronger and better company. ESG too needs to act more independently with less hype.

Yup! You know they noticed it. Why didn't they mention it? Makes me wonder 🤔
@mroberts1123 жыл бұрын
@@mattpignato9763 me too - I really felt like ESG was working for Apollo - like they were one company ( I felt that way before I ever received my scooter ) . I can't confirm as I don't have any insider information, but with the multiple fanboy streams with almost no negative comments it does make one wonder. Perhaps ESG should say this on their videos that they are NOT receiving any kickbacks and these reviews are independent. ESG if you are listening, it would be great for you to confirm or dispell this theory. I could be totally wrong. At least us consumers can then make more informed decisions as to the independence of the reviews they post. At this point in time, I don't trust ESG reviews either way given how many things they missed with this review that were SO obvious to anyone riding this scooter.

Soooooo excited to ride this thing! Finally, a Big Big Dawg friendly sexy scooter for a two meter Clyde’ pushing 3 bills, and for $2k! Ok, so the Ghost would also work, though coming up from a Ninebot Max, I can’t do the trigger thing, or the collar thing. I’m not hating, just not my style. Same with the Wolf/11x. I’m also used to a scooter that I am willing to carry up and down a long flight of stairs at my studio, and fit in my trunk along with a second scooter, so the hundred-pound scoots would alter some logistics, which would be no bueno, and to pay another stack and lose function doesn’t make sense in my current situation. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a chance to ride all those scooters, among others, though I only have the budget for one, so it’s got to do it all in one shot. This thing is going to get some miles on it with the quickness!

Please review the Wolf Warrior X and VSETT 10+, they are the scooters that are the actual rival of the Phantom. Comparing them to scooters released years ago doesn't make much sense. I'm very disappointed in the Phantom's battery size. Both the Wolf X and VSETT 10+ massively increased battery capacity compared to the previous generation of 10" scooters and will destroy the Phantom in range. The lack of a good horn is also a con of the Phantom, but to be fair the Wolf X might be the only 10" scooter that includes a good horn.

The fact the folding mechanism is so simple and not complicated and the fact you mentioned Apollo was generous enough to include a toolkit including spare tubes, brake pads and it has turn signals was the deal breaker for me. There are obviously faster scooters like the Nami Burn E that you just reviewed, but I wouldn’t pay $5k for a scooter. I’m not sure if even want to go that fast. @@choicegaming3183 I don't think the people that judge him are of any concern. People pay ludicrous amounts of money on cars that essentially sit in the same traffic at the same speeds as a car that cost very little. In the scooter market right now there is huge differences in day to day performance within the different price brackets. I'm not really too fussed about a high speed scooter mine does 20mph ish with some mods to the firmware, however it seriously lacks on inclines and range. If I could get something that does a solid 20-25mph and can climb just as easy I'd happily pay some more than what my current scooter was worth to get the performance I naively expected. I'm happy to take it as a learning curve as I'm new to scooters, I've learnt I don't like front wheel drive and I prefer levers to the ninebots throttle style break. I really like my friends mi pro but I hate the wheels, they don't feel stable at speed or when making sharp turns plus it feels cheap and weak compared to the nice ride and stability that my e25e has.

These are my first impressions after unboxing the Phantom and riding it for about 20km. As a matter of disclosure, this is my first scooter I own, but I did ride rental scooters before. - just an unboxing suggestion... the video suggests to lift the scooter up out of the box. It's way easier to slide it out having the box on its side. - my first impression: IT'S A BEAST :) - it's large and you won't be folding it to hop with it on a bus. It's tall. I am 5.11 (182cm) and I look like a kid next to the scooter. All good though - I love it!! - dual motor (sport) mode totally delivers on the promised power. However, if you are one of the people who might think, I will get the cheaper one; I don't need that much power... You do. Going up steeper hills and still be able to accelerate does need the power. I wouldn't be too upset having more. 5 stars here. - suspension, sturdiness, solid build, speed, breaks, the display - all great, as I have seen on various reviews. Really happy. Here are some areas for improvement that most reviews didn't mention. These are not deal breakers for me. I am still happy with my purchase, but hopefully the design team will read this for the benefit of future generations. * the safety pin... you need a hammer to push/drive it in and pliers to take it out. I have pretty strong hands and there is no way I can jam the pin in, and yes, I tried a number of times repeatedly locking and unlocking the post. * the key - really? This is 21st century people. I got electronic locks on the house. My car uses the phone (no keys) and of all things my top of the line scooter uses 100 year-old technology. Please can you provide a bluetooth or nfc key? Even if it's a $150 option, I will pay for it. * the steering is too tight - you need to apply rotational force as opposed to be able to just lean into a turn. Never had this problem with any other scooters I used. Maybe this can be adjusted, or maybe it will loosen up with time. * blinkers - what is the point of the blinkers if they are only visible in the back. I still have to hand-signal. You should also use a positional switch (look up some motorcycles). I shouldn't have to be staring at the display to find out if the thing is on. * the throttle - nothing, nothing, nothing, and then boom. Can you design a throttle that applies power GRADUALLY? It's really uneven - super jumpy at the beginning. It's not a matter of power. My EV has almost 500HP and I can move it an inch at a time. This throttle is almost dangers. * the sport mode / dual motor - you should be able to engage it while you ride. I know this is added electronic complexity so the motor doesn't through you back or forward, but... when you ride, most of the time you don't need the dual motor power, and it's a waste of range to be using it all the time, but when you approach various hills, you do need it, but then you have to (almost) stop to engage it. Then, you can also add another mode that has the 2nd motor come on and off automatically. Together with fixing the throttle, these 2 changes would make the scooter much, much better. * the regen breaks - well, first, great that they are there, but the way they work is pretty terrible. You can choose regen strength (in advanced setting - not while you ride), and while you ride it's all or nothing. The strength of the regen break should be proportional to how much the break handle is depressed. You could actually make it work just like Tesla does it with one-foot driving - that would be ideal, but at the very least, make it gradual. With regen, going down hill, I am either accelerating, or if I press the break just a tiny bit, the regen engages and I am slowing down too much. I can't be stopping before each hill, going to advanced setting and changing the regen strength... * the charge port caps / covers don't stick very well - they come off on their own. * the display could be brighter. In the sun, it's hard to see. Other suggestions - make the key lock the steering (like in most motorcycles) - that would be a great added security feature.

Had the same thought. I've got a balance bar mounted on my Mantis with the handlebar extension mounted to that, with my Fenix BC-30 V2 light mounted to that dead centre. I wouldn't be able to do that on the Phantom? I may be able to look at risers but I've always thought they looked goofy? I also have a Klarus XT21X mounted on the stem with a Fenix ARB-10 mount, but that is offset to the left. Due to the tapered shape of the stem, I also wouldn't be able to use that on the Phantom either so... As much as I would love to upgrade to this, I've just had the realisation that this might be impractical for my use case, with my current gear anyway, as most of my riding is at night. As good as the built-in light is on the Phantom, 1000 lumens just isn't enough on its own? Between the BC-30 & the XT21X I've got 6200 lumens now (which is actually around 4500 is consistently usable) & that is barely enough. This just makes me sad... lol.

Looking to upgrade from Boosted Rev to Apollo Phantom sometime later this year! Can't wait what other folks say about this e-scooter. Is Apollo developing an app for their scooters by any chance such as the Phantom, Air, and possibly Ghost? Really diggin' the screen and intuitive buttons, but would like to also just change some of the settings via the app without having to go through the P-Settings
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 жыл бұрын
For the Phantom, there are plans to eventually have Bluetooth-enabled firmware updates and the like, and the display is capable of doing so -- but they do not have these applications in development yet (that we're aware of). The Phantom's display is MUCH larger and easier to read when you do need to toggle through P-settings. We really enjoyed the Phantom here, it'll definitely feel like a nice level up for you from the Rev! The Air also has Bluetooth capability indicated by icon on screen, but no associated app yet. Since it's an entry-level scooter, there aren't that many settings anyway, so it works even without having an app. What would likely happen w/ this feature for the Air is that the app would allow you to do all the same functions as the display but additionally "lock" the scooter by connecting it to your phone (this usually is only effective as a security measure while the scooter is on). The Ghost comes with a QS-S4 style throttle, so doesn't have Bluetooth capability but what's nice about the QS-S4 is that it's a pretty standard component and can be fairly easily replaced. Ride safe and thanks for watching! - Trina

Can you do a review or explain differences of regular breaks vs hydraulic? I only ever see reviews with hydraulic brakes without explaining why they're better or preferred than regular.
@mikes96fs3 жыл бұрын
I have hydraulic brakes on my ebike and regular disk brakes on my Apollo explore. I can tell you that the hydraulic brakes are way nicer! Takes very little force to pull the levers. I usually use 1 or 2 fingers instead of having to grip with my whole hand. Feels much smoother with better stopping power. Next scooter I buy will definitely have hydraulic brakes.
@JerbFTW3 жыл бұрын
The difference between regular/cable brakes is mostly in how easy it is to press down. Hydraulic brakes are much easier to control and to press, while cable brakes can be difficult to press down and offer less control on the level of braking
@raymondayeung3 жыл бұрын
Mechanical brakes require a bit more regular maintenance as the cable stretches over time and the braking feedback is not as instantaneous compared to hydraulic brakes. However, air may get inside hydraulic brakes which would make it very spongy so some maintenance is required to bleed the brakes from time to time, but the overall performance should be way better. I'm looking to upgrade to Nutt hydraulic brakes on my 10X variant soon so I hope it's a night and day difference.

Is the display dimmable? One feature I'm surprised it doesn't have is a foldable handlebar, but from my experience servicing Mercane, Kaabo and Inokim, folding handle bar mechanism can be a problem with wobble or jammed if not set right. The worst design is by Kaabo on their Skywalker with a handlebar adjustment screw that is very easy to set wrong and through vibration can cause the handle bars to wobble or if wound out too far can jam the handlebar and stop it from folding, and takes a lot of brute force to unfold. As for the stem folding mechanism, you are totally correct. The Segway and Xiaomi folding mechanism designs are the best from a customers and a servicing point of view. The problem with the Segway Ninebots are the worst nightmare in replacing the tyres.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 жыл бұрын

Is it just me, or does the suspension not look as bouncy as the now discontinued Apollo Pro when they're jumping on it? 🤔
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 жыл бұрын
It's not super different, but it is better than the Pro. There is still no damping built in, but the natural drag from the bushings inside the shocks is twice as much as there would be with only one shock per end. They also did a good job making sure that the shocks don't top-out hard when they reach the end of travel. The stem also helps it feel a lot more solid than the Pro. -Paul

You can slightly adjust the electronics along the cockpit, but there is rather limited space, and the handlebars are shaped like a bicycle's, so dip down in the center where the display is located. The bar extender would need to have arms that are at least 6 in tall to clear the display, and with the handlebars' curve, it might be difficult to attach around the HEX display. Hope this helps a bit! -Trina

Seems strange the ghost got deck lighting but no high mounted light and indicators and the phantom the opposite! I think Apollo should be looking at lighting being a standard across all models, so all have deck lighting, all have a central break light at the back and indicators on the 4 corners of the deck (or back of deck and on handlebars for front) and a high mounted light. And implement the same style folding mechanism. Safety should be standard not something you have to pay extra for 👍🏻

@drekex67673 жыл бұрын
Sure I can spoil, the mantis goes about 1km longer 46km vs 47km but the phantom goes about 3km faster in top speed. Another benefit is the waterproof rating, which means the phantom can still carry you through light/medium rain and puddles while the mantis doesn’t have a rating (but it might be water resistant to some degree). So in specs, they are fairly close. By paying more, you get prenium features like the uncommon 1000 lumen top light instead of it being placed at the bottom like many scooters, a unique display unlike the circular one you see on tons of scooters, a reinforced stem and probably a bit more. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about the 500W motor limit as long as you keep your speed in check with jurisdictional guidelines. The motor limit really shows how little government knows about this category of vehicle - could you imagine that they would outlaw a Mustang GT because you are running a 5.0L engine instead of a 4 cylinder, even though you are staying within the speed limit. I also highly doubt the cops would know the difference between a 500W and a 1200W motor :)
