5 years later, it still hurts imagining Prince all alone in Paisley Park... no wife/kids ... all by himself as he quietly passed away. Hearing Appollonia talk about his attempt to make things right towards the end is haunting. We’ll never know for sure if P “sensed” his time was coming, but with every interview I watch, it sure as hell feels like he did. Lucid dreams of his deceased friends... telling Morris Day he loved him for the first time... damn. Prince, we love and miss you! 💜💜💜

I lived in Minnesota for 23 (mostly freezing) years. The organization I worked for have property and offices right across the street from Paisley Park. Prince's family had a home and property (secluded, naturally) just a few miles away. In all of that time living and working there...I never saw Prince. But an acquaintance of mine was out walking in the woods nearby at Lake Anne one day, and ran into him. They had a brief, friendly conversation. And this person I know did not know who Prince was! (Prince told him to ask his kids about him, LOL). My acquaintance asked him his name...And Prince said, "I'm Prince!!" My friend said, "Prince of WHAT?" How great is this story.

Even though I was a little gay boy, I fell in love with Apollonia as a kid because she looks so incredibly similar to my mom, who I always thought as a kid was the most beautiful woman in the world, I still do, and partly because I had never seen a woman who looked like family on the big screen before. Trust Prince knew Susan Moonsie & Brenda had moved on to different careers. Appollonia 6 desolved in the 80’s & Prince had no negotiations or thoughts of trying to put them back together. Anybody who knows Prince knows he seldom backtrack with female artist unless it’s Sheila E or Lisa Melvion. And Purple Rain was based on his relationship with Vanity. She is lying the Last Dragon was given to Vanity without even doing a audition; Appollonia was never offered that role & Suzanne De Passé never fret over whether to give it her or Vanity or else we all would have long been heard about that. Suzanne De Passé, Taimak, Berry Gordy or any one who was on production in some capacity in that movie never ever mentioned her ever being considered for that role. She is lying.

Denise Matthew's was Prince's real love & he was very hurt when they broke up. He was also very sad when she passed. He found out she died just moments before he went on stage & spoke of who she was, wanted to be & that they really loved each other. I remember her being the presenter when they won for Best album in 1984 & Prince & Vanity hugged & they were both crying. *what I didn't about App. was Denise got her life together years later, off drugs & got saved. By all accounts she was really a very sweet person who fought her demons from abuse as a child. Apollonia did an interview mocking her saying oh now after all those drugs she's talking about finding Jesus. I didn't know he was lost. Thankfully Denise wasn't and found peace. The crappy part is Apollonia went to her funeral as if she cared NOT & only to be seen with the other Prince protogees for publicity. Many who worked with Prince were Denise's friends & loved her like Sheila E., Susan and Brenda. **Part of her beef with Sheila is that she really was engaged to him. I remember it being announced by Sheila's father on the radio. Also, because Appollonia can't hold a note, Prince wouldn't take her on the PR tour & instead took Sheila & promoted her album. Prince put money behind Sheila. Remember Krush Groove, Prince helped get it made just for Sheila, he was on set & notice his picture was on the wall in one of the scenes. * Sheila was also a professional musician playing with Santana, Michael Jackson (thats her making the beat throughout Don't Stop Til You Get Enough on the water glasses & Marvin Gaye before she ever met Prince. She's worked with so many artists & stayed Prince's friend longer than anyone else, even after a breakup almost 40 years! If App wants to talk drugs, she got arrested for it & said she was researching a part for a movie. She also lived next door to another one who only dated Prince to help her non existent career, Carmen Electra who said Prince was so-so in bed & after he died said The Most Beautiful Girl in the World was about her. No, but the song I Hate You was for real. The extended version really cuts "you gave a dog a place to bone & now your ass is all alone, I hate you baby". Lol. Only Prince could cut like that & I love that song!

Started high school in 84, so, honestly, emotionally, this time period, these artists, and just coming off of 1999, friday night videos, very little touches my emotions as profoundly as these reflections and first hand intimacies of the era. Color, harmony, hope, love and people that actually played instruments. In Prince's case all of them! Thank you Apollonia!

Prince has a way of soothing everyone's soul, either with his music, writing along with his soft spoken words. The loss we all share with losing Prince, Michael Jackson & Marvin Gaye is just devastating to society and to the music industry itself. Unfortunate, although the music and writings that they left will be there forever for all to enjoy and remembrance of them. They were miraculous healers of the Soul and Spirit. They did this through their music, writings & their soft spoken words. They earned their FAME in positive ways, way talanted. We will never forget them as long as we live along with my children whom are grown now, love them too. We all will be together again on Resurrection Day and I wish you peace here on Earth and comfort for the rest of your days during your journey through life. 🍀😉🙏🦋✌️🌈👀🌹❤️

I was breakdancing outside FirstAvenue in 1983 when they were filming Purple Rain. We battled Rock Steady Crew at the 7th St. Entrance and won. Growing up with the scene we opened for Prince at the MN Music Awards; performed many times at First Ave. But I never saw Apollonia or Vanity here. Back then I wondered what happened to Vanity. Apollonia helps put things in perspective that I never knew; even though Prince invited me to Paisley Park as his guest, and introduced me to his then wife Mayte.; everyone was so compartmentalized that we didn't all know each other. I met Mallia at Bunkers and Rosie reminded me a lot of those Queens of Soul. I went to his band member's homes and pleaded with them to help save his life, long before he died. For me to see that even Apollonia was blocked, says so much. (I wasn't alone in that). This was a great interview. Thank you so much for telling the truth, straight and honestly. She acting like he wanted to have an Apollonian 6 reunión revamped album. That don’t even sound like something Prince would do. I dare you to ask Sheila E, Wendy, Susan Melvoin, Dr. Fink or any band member that was with the Revolution. Everybody knows this including the members of the Time (Morris Day, Jim Jam & Terry Lewis, Jellybean) can vouch because they all hung out together like a family when they were trying to make it big. Get your facts right @Starr Company. Apollonia needs to stop lying & she had the nerve to show up at Vanity's funeral after lying on her. That's file. I hate when a person twists a lie and the other person is not around to straighten them out

Morris Day & several members of the time said those songs were supposedly being in que for Vanity after Purple Rain but since she left he went on & let Shiela do it. Manic Monday idk. I know she’s lying big time The Last Dragon was never offered to her & she was never in the running for it. Suzanne De Passé & Berry Gordy wanted Vanity big time. She signed a Motown contract for the movie, which I believe she was paid $125k or $135k to do plus a 3 album contract with Motown. She is really lying her butt off on Vanity. Later, she is at his house sharing the same bed. Then, they are going back and forth between his place and her place. Then they are doing lots of projects together, and yet she did not find him attractive in a sexual way. She loved him like family. Something is not right here. The interview left out the elephant in the room regarding the appearance of queer sexuality. Why didn't the interview address this question?

@@Marvelous-ge4ef I think see was pretty clear. She loved Prince enough where she would have been proud to have been in a relationship with him.

@@Marvelous-ge4ef for sure prince enjoyed Apollonia in bed, if only for one time, he needed to see if she was a screamer or not, he always fantasized about the newest girl around and slept with most of them, or they wouldn't be there. Prince loved affection and would call it a day to the band if it meant he was going to get some. That's what makes for great lyrics. His experiences and fantasies. Go on with your bad self!

What a great man Prince was. I was honored and able to meet him in Miami because of my boss being a photographer for rock magazines and he was truly a "PRINCE". He was so tiny but he was amazing.

This is a great interview. She’s so open, funny, has such a big heart. And she a total bad ass dressed all in studded leather 😂 Adore her. She’s a class act. Never knew she contributed at this level, and so extensively, creatively to so many. And when she started to cry, retelling how Prince, unsolicited and of his own volition, was trying to right wrongs he believed he’d done over his life, it sent a chill up my spine, and brought a tear to my eye. Thank you so much for posting this. Oh Prince. Not to take any focus away from her, but I have to write this cause, it’s Prince. The almighty purple one. Prince was such a highly intelligent, brilliant, true musical genius and a true legend, even in his own lifetime. A once in a century kind of gifted protege, he was one of a kind. I was so lucky to be alive in his lifetime. Being alive during Prince’s prime musical years was like I imagine it was being alive in the age and time of like, Mozart. We all knew we were witnessing and hearing someone and something so special, that we’d never see his like again in our lifetimes. But damn, we thought he’d be around much longer. When he died I went into what my friends and wife all refer to as my “Prince Depression”. I literally cried every day for nearly two months. I mean, I weeped. First, it didn’t seem possible. He was like ageless, immortal, evergreen. He was widely known to be health conscious, religious and lived a very clean, pure lifestyle (we thought), and wasn’t ill or old. I also cried because I was so deeply devastated at the momentous loss to the arts, and humanity as a whole, that his death was. And it made me sad that he never had a real family of his own to live and enjoy life with; had no wife and children to carry on his lineage and musical legacy, and perhaps his musical genius dna, after he died. Estranged relatives all fighting over the estate, what he built with no contributions from them, like vultures; vultures he always flew above. His genius began and ended with only him. And that is so heartbreaking. For all of his immense gifts and genius, his life was beset with tragedy and utter aloneness. When he wanted a lasting marriage and children so much, and it just didn’t happen for him. At the end he was only surrounded by enablers and people who worked for him. How horrible that must be. Then there was the fact that he’d died so needlessly, by something so unbelievable in context to him, so completely uncharacteristic. He was so health conscious, ate so well, was always lithe, toned and in shape, and god could he perform. He was always beautiful. He was just beautiful. Apollonia talks about how he lived such a healthy lifestyle. He didn’t even drink alcohol, didn’t smoke, and was never known to do illegal drugs at all. In contrast to how unbelievable a demise it was for him, it’s something so commonplace typical of so many of his contemporaries that he towered above in relation to talent, accomplishment, originality, longevity, performance and ability. It just didn’t seem even remotely possible that such a fate could befall him. It was beyond tragic. Utterly heartbreaking. I took three days vacation from work, and did nothing but watch his films and interviews, his videos, his performances, his award acceptances, and play his music, and cry. All three days. I still get tears thinking about him, and writing this. And it’s hard for me to watch any of his performances. Cause I know it’s all we’re ever going to have now. Rest In Peace Denise (Vanity) and the one and only Prince 💜

She says her and Prince never had a romantic relationship. I think shes lying. In a updated Interview with Morris day he specifically said any woman who worked with Prince in a movie or musically they usually had romantic involvement. Then she says she stayed in bed with him and nothing happened. She's totally lying.

Um i dont think shes lying. One, no reason to, and Two, he was in love with Vanity. Only reason Apollonia was in Purple Rain was because Vanity left. He used Apollonia to make Vanity jealous. They couldnt live without eachother. Ugh makes me mad. Too much pride. They had wasted so much time but in the end... they finally are together.

She was married but sleeping with David Lee Roth at the time. Can we just go on and call her what she was? She was a passaround. It even comes across in her little stories she tells.

Being an eighteen year old and living in Minnesota in 1984 Purple Rain was THE movie. I still regularly watch the movie. I was in the car passing not too far from Pailey Park when I heard the news of Prince's passing. I have so much respect for Apollonia and this video just reinforced it. Miss the Minneapolis Sound that Apollonia was a part of and now I know even a bigger part with her writing of a lot of lyrics. Still gorgeous Apollonia, thank you.
