There just so happens to be two sentences immediately preceding Deut 13 that frames the conversation there: "Everything I am commanding you, you are to take care to do. It is so hard listening to people like apologia studios. Of course we have dealt with the same arguments from friends and family for years. Have you ever noticed when you give them scripture in context they just make up whatever they want? I had someone, after a long debate, finally tell me the Holy Spirit is something you feel, and that the Holy Spirit tells him what sin is, not some book. Now this is a man I have known and admired for decades, and when he had no more verses to twist he just made up something. When I asked how does he test the spirit that guides him he had no answer and it was the end of the conversation. 2 hours boiled down to "I can do what I want because I don't think it is wrong". That's all these guys are doing here. Trying to build up the argument for living in sin so people cannot be convicted of sin and repent. These are "shepherds" that scatter the flock, or worse, wolves in sheep's clothing.

Another one you get often is 1 Timothy 4:4-5 - For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. They say, "See! All food is good when we give thanks and prayer!" Yet they skip over the part staring them right in the face. That is it made holy (set apart) by THE WORD OF GOD. Now, where would that be in the Word? I can't find another place other than Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14.

I just feel so blessed and humbled He has given me eyes to see and ears to hear Him calling us to Turn and obey! Love Him soooo much, I was definitely DEAD, He saved Me from horrible Sins. I often wonder why the argument in the Torah-less community, when it comes to YAH's food laws, is always surrounding the pig? Why not the cat or dog or vulture or kite or hippo or owl or squirrel, or horse, or dolphin, or rats, or bats, etc., all of which are unclean. I never hear a person, who doesn't keep Torah or who is against keeping Torah, debate about eating or starting to eat or wanting to eat any of the other animals I mentioned. All I know is YAH is good and HE doesn't change (thank goodness), and I will keep HIS Laws and HIS Commandments and hearken unto HIM and HIM only until the day HE breathes HIS last breath in me. Thank you for bringing up Noah. Two things people never notice…The law of clean and unclean was clearly in effect. And so was sacrifice. Noah sacrificed clean animals when he got off the Ark. And the sabbath has been established since the 7th day of creation. Clearly Torah in some form was going on at the time of the flood.

We have seen it said time and time again, reading the word of God through a translation, is like kissing your wife through a veil. It simply is not the same. Something is always lost in translation; it is important to stay true to the idea things can be lost in our translations, so let’s diligently look at (Genesis 9:3). Every moving thing (H7431 Remes) that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant (Genesis 9:3) We need not overlook the fact God gave Noah a specific group of animals to eat… the Remes. The NASB, ESV and KJV all translated Remes as ‘every moving thing’, very similar to that of the NWT. As Remes is clearly often translated as ‘every moving thing’, it would be wise to look into this further and see where this word is used elsewhere to be consistent. John H Walton, a mainstream Christian Scholar, makes some careful observations that we can prove and should pay attention to, he notes: The noun (H743 Remes) and the associated verb (rms) each occur seventeen times in the old testament, ten times each in (Genesis 1-9). The word group is distinct from both the wild (predatory) beasts and the domesticated flocks and herds. Neither verb or noun is ever used to refer to larger wild animals or to domesticated animals. In no place is remes (H743) a catch all category for all creatures. It is one category of creature only. The division of the Hebrew terms used up to this point in Genesis reflects the nature of the animal…\" John H Walton’s The NIV Application Commentary: Genesis (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2001, pp 341-342) What Walton and an understanding of Hebrew literature tells us, is that Remes used in (Genesis 9:3) cannot and does not mean all creatures like it is commonly wrote in the English. This shows that this group of animals here in (Genesis 9:3) has some sort of separation from the rest of the animals. This would clearly show and prove then that Noah could not eat all things, unless you would need to concede to the idea the Hebrew writings are wrong, drawing scrutiny on the rest of the Tanakh. He could only eat the animals that were Remes (H7431). But what is Remes? Walton continues, These animals were typically characterized as being the prey of hunters and predatory beasts This agrees with God’s proceeding statement, The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps (H7431 remes) on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given. (Genesis 9:2). (Verse 3) then allows Noah to go out and hunt certain animals… Remes. Interestingly enough, the animals who fall under this category, as Walton admits, are wild cattle, antelope, deer, gazelle and ibex. These are all animals that would fall under the clean category as clearly depicted in (Leviticus 11) and (Deuteronomy 14). The remes animals would have been clean animals, that’s what is consistent with the use of the verb in the rest of Scripture. Is the word of God not consistent? But many would have needed to be hunted and or tamed in order to be actually eaten. The fear the remes animals would have from humans would come from the hunting that would need to take place, or from being herded, as we can gather from (Genesis 9:2). Noah just needed approval from God to go out and get them, so that solves the issue with the lazy and inaccurate translation of Remes used in Christianity today. Walton’s take on this was purposely used as this is a gentleman who believes in the idea that the law is no longer binding, so would be an unbiased source. It is clear then that Noah could not eat that which was unclean. When we examine the Hebrew word Remes, we see it is used for clean animals, not the unclean, this means then that of course he was not instructed to eat unclean animals. Scripture must be consistent for it to be inspired, and we know the word of God does not change. Remes could never be applied and has never been applied to unclean animals only the clean, so if we translate the Hebrew text thoroughly using the root word correctly, it should read, Every (Remes - clean) moving thing that is alive shall be for food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. While I'm not a huge fan of the NLT I do like how they translated and clarified Genesis 7:2 - Take with you seven pairs-male and female-of each animal I have approved for eating and for sacrifice,[a] and take one pair of each of the others. The footnote "[a]" states "Hebrew of each clean animal; similarly in 7:8." It might not be word for word accurate, but it is accurate in defining "clean animals" as "each animal I have approved for eating and for sacrifice" As always I agree with you conclusions on this and it's sad how people chose to twist scripture to fit their traditions. This isn't a condemnation of the gentleman making the claim, since I used to do the same thing.

I've never been impressed with Andrew's understanding of Scripture. It's lackluster at best.
