I loved my life in Mormonism as a young person but as an adult when I had grown up and faced reality somewhat it proved very exhausting, guilt ridden, and uncertain. It was pretty much all up to me and I never measured up. As a new Christian that great burden has been lifted by Jesus. And I am more engaged than ever! Praise God!

I’d like to hear a comprehensive breakdown about the similarities between Mohammed and Joseph Smith
@humblewatchman16737 ай бұрын
Joseph Smith, Charles Taze Russell, and Muhammad…all were deceived by angels of light….the first was from outside the church and was the largest deception of them all (Muhammad). The other two came from within the church and denied the deity of Christ. All seem to have been demonically influenced, since they speak of an angel of light and dreams or visions. Makes us consider the spiritual realm and Paul’s words that we don’t wrestle with flesh and blood.

I queried AI to give me a summary: 1. **Humble Beginnings**: Both Joseph Smith and Muhammad had humble beginnings. Neither had formal religious connections or upbringing, and both were relatively uneducated. 2. **Angel Visitations**: Both prophets claimed to have had angel visitations and received divine revelations to restore pure religion to the earth again. 3. **Restoration of Faith**: Both men were told that the religions that existed on the earth were untrue, and they were to restore the long lost/forgotten faith as the one true religion. 4. **Creation of New Scripture**: Both prophets created new scripture which borrowed heavily from the Bible, but with a substantially new “spin.”. 5. **Final Prophets**: Both men claimed to be the last and final prophet of God. 6. **Persecution**: Both men claimed they were persecuted for their correct and pure faith. 7. **Polygamy**: Both men were polygamists who collected many wives. 8. **Child Marriage**: Both practiced child marriage. Muhammad married Aisha when she was very young, and Joseph Smith also married underage girls. 9. **Celestial Marriage**: Joseph Smith introduced the concept of “celestial marriage” which could include “plural marriage”. 10. **Legacy**: Both men left a significant religious legacy, with followers numbering in the millions worldwide.

This anthropological miracle is attached to the people and the land of the God of the Bible. Isaiah 53 then predicted Jesus’s first coming 700 years before He came. Daniel 9 then prophesied that the Messiah would have to arrive prior to the destruction of the 2nd temple, and Jesus was right on time. Rome then tried to stamp out the Christian faith, but it exploded despite the brutal opposition that lasted nearly 300 years. Jesus lives. And changed hearts and lives are a witness to His testimony.

@austineastman777 so I'm guessing you never made it to the 3rd word in the hebrew bibke then huh? Literally God, a plural word for God, Elohim is the 3rd word in the Bible. The M" on the end of Elohim makes it a plural word, thus meaning God is more than 1. Elohim in hebrew is a singular plural word, this elohim is a plurality of one. As God created man in his image, man is made up of 3 parts, body, soul and spirit. Tgis man is also a plurality of one, 3 parts, one person. God aka elohim is also 3 parts, God-The father aka his soul. Holy spirit, and the Word. John 1:1 we see that the word became flesh. That's sp crazy that I only had to make it to the 3rd word in the Bible to prove you wrong. Amazing, especially that elohim is the 3rd word...3....did you catch that...3!!!! 3rd, third, three...Elohim!!! Besides the rest of the entire bible, let's have issuah make it clear too. Isaiah 9 6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be on his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Shalom. The son will be the father also! Boom. Simple, I can share more if you'd like, I was brainwashed into mormonism, being taught a lie , I chose truth over everything else, it's hard to admit we fall victim to false teachings by people that we thought were wise, but to find out, they were no more intelligent than the lie they were given also. I can teach you more if you'd like. The bibke is full of truths that can back up true doctrines. False ones such as no trinity are easily disproven by the bibke itself, it's why I fell in love with the Bible, it's God's perfect word, even with its errors, it's perfect and full of gods words.

@D....A...e-fg8qh You're taking John 1:1 way out of context. John 1:1 isn't naming the God of Israel. It describes the qualities possessed by the subject of the word. The most accurate translation would be the word is diety. Many times in the New Testament, Jesus is differentiated from God. Jesus of the New Testament has a God John 20:17. Even the glorified Jesus in Heaven still has a God according to Revelation 3:12.

When I realized I was a lost lamb Jesus came to save, I became very unhappy in the Mormon church -after 65 yrs fully active. It wasn’t emphasizing the gospel or the worship of God, only the changing church system and rituals, human beings and human relations. Still, it took me 20 yrs to quit going and find a Bible church centered in Christ. It’s so completely different. Rejoicing!

My story is that when I was a baby I was baptized, but I was in a family that had lots of different beliefs, both pro religion and against it. I was always drawn to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as an adult I read The Book of Mormon and I love this book! I know it’s true and it’s brought me great joy. Yes, there are some that have said we’re in a cult. That’s basically like calling someone a negative name and putting them down. Why do it? But if a person insists on being hurtful then perhaps I need to wear that with honor. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, was hated and mocked, was He not? I try to remember that when someone tells me I’m of less importance than another. Now speaking of faith conversations, I’ve found that we do have some differences with those that feel they’re the only ones that truly know the real Christ. I believe Jesus Christ will judge this and not another person. Jesus Christ will judge us one day to come, therefore, I don’t believe anyone is saved until Jesus Christ holds a final judgement. I know Grace saves us and it’s not by our works that we’re saved, but I want to do good works because that’s in my heart. I am not hoping for extra brownie points by doing good works, but do so because I simply want to. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we have the keys of the priesthood, which no other faith has. We also have temples where we are doing the work God has asked us to do & that’s about bringing families together and reconciliation with God. It’s a beautiful work. I have a family member who belongs to a different faith and who told me that when we die we’re in heaven or hell. It’s all over at that point. I asked her,”What do you think will happen to a person who was born in China in 1725 and never heard of Christ?” She said that person would go to hell if they hadn’t accepted Christ. I told her that any person that didn’t know of Christ while on this earth, or did but hadn’t quite accepted Him could still have learning experiences where change could occur. We have the answers to this because of the work performed in the temple. If any person has the sincere desire to know truth, study it out and ask of God. I suggest reading The Book of Mormon and put a true effort into it. I know the good I have in this faith and am so happy that no one can ever take that away from me no matter what.

Thank you for taking the time to share your testimony! I always appreciate when someone is honest and open about how they became an LDS member. 😊 If you don’t mind, I would like to share mine and why I did not join the LDS Church… When I was saved by Christ 9 years ago I had many LDS friends and family. As far as I knew, they were just apart of another Christian denomination. They talked about Jesus occasionally, prayed, and overall seemed to have kind and positive attitudes. Seemed Christian to me I guess? 🤷🏽♂️ But as I began to research and do more digging I became appalled at some of their teachings, as well as the disturbing history of how the LDS church formed and what was taught by their prophets. What I was finding was so disturbing I figured it had to have been made up by opposers of the church…that was until I found the actual photo reprints of the material on BYU’s website. You mentioned in your testimony that you didn’t appreciate your church being called a negative name and put down because of being called a cult. But Joseph Smith and other leadership had much harsher words for all other churches, referring to them as the “church of the devil”, the “Whore of Babylon”, and “anti-Christs”. “Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil.” -1 Nephi 14:10 “All other churches are entirely destitute of all authority from God; and any person that receives Baptism or the Lord’s supper from their hands will highly offend God, for he looks upon them as the most corrupt of all people. Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the Whore of Babylon.” -Orson Pratt (Original member of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles), The Seer, Pg. 255 (1854) “Every spirit that confesses that Joseph Smith is a Prophet, that he lived and died a Prophet and that the Book of Mormon is true, is of God, and every spirit that does not is of anti-Christ.” -Brigham Young, 2nd Mormon Prophet (History of the Church vol. 7: pg. 287) “There is no salvation outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.” -Mormon Doctrine 2nd Edition Besides their disdain for any other churches beside the LDS church, I also discovered there was zero historical evidence for any of the stories found in the BOM. The Bible itself is backed by mountains of historical evidence being found such as the cities described in scripture like Jericho, Bethlehem, and Sodom, ancient inscriptions of Biblical names matching the described dates, pottery ect… But there is no historical data backing the BOM at all. Worse yet, Joseph Smith came across some ancient Egyptian papyri and mistakenly told people they were the actual writings of Abraham while he was living in Egypt as the Pearl of Great Price prefaces the book with… “A Translation of some ancient records that have fallen into our hands from the catacombs of Egypt. The writings of Abraham while he was in Egypt, called the Book of Abraham, written by his own hand, upon papyrus.” Joseph claimed he could translate these Egyptian writings written by Abraham on the papyrus by which he created “The Book of Abraham”. It turned out after Joseph’s death that the Papyri were not the writings of Abraham, but instead were just standard Egyptian funerary texts that had nothing to do with Abraham. The LDS church surprisingly admits to this on their official website… “None of the characters on the papyrus fragments mentioned Abraham’s name or any of the events recorded in the book of Abraham. Mormon and non-Mormon Egyptologists agree that the characters on the fragments do not match the translation given in the book of Abraham…Scholars have identified the papyrus fragments as parts of standard funerary texts that were deposited with mummified bodies. These fragments date to between the third century B.C.E. and the first century C.E., long after Abraham lived.” -LDS.org As I dug further it only got worse. For the majority of the LDS church’s history until the 1970’s, the church led people astray by teaching disturbing racist theology that dark skinned people were cursed by God… “And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.” -2 Nephi 5:21 "Had I anything to do with the negro, I would confine them by strict law to their own species..." -Joseph Smith, January 2, 1845, History of the Church, v. 5, pp. 217 “From the days of the Prophet Joseph even until now, it has been the doctrine of the Church, never questioned by any of the Church leaders, that the Negroes are not entitled to the full blessings of the Gospel.” -Letter from the First Presidency to Dr. Lowry Nelson, July 17, 1947 "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has no call to carry the Gospel to the Negro, and it does not do so." -The Church and the Negro P. 109-110 (1968) BYU Professor John L. Lund While reading the BOM I also learned it condemned polygamy calling the practice “wickedness”, “whoredoms”, “iniquity, and “an abomination”, yet four years after writing the BOM, Joseph claimed an angel appeared to him and commanded him to practice and teach polygamy in the church as admitted on the LDS church’s official website… "Joseph told associates that an angel appeared to him three times between 1834 and 1842 and commanded him to proceed with plural marriage when he hesitated to move forward…During the third and final appearance, the angel came with a drawn sword, threatening Joseph with destruction unless he went forward and obeyed the commandment fully." -LDS.org This led to a massive deception in the church with leadership claiming salvation was contingent on the practice of polygamy… "Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned," -Brigham Young (2nd LDS President) Sermon Given In Provo, Utah July 14th 1855 Journal of Discourses, vol. 3, p. 266) "Some people have supposed that the doctrine of plural marriage was a sort of superfluidity, or non-essential to the salvation or exaltation of mankind…I understand the law of celestial marriage to mean that every man in this church, who has the ability to obey and practice it in righteousness and will not, shall be damned." -Joseph F. Smith (6th LDS Church President) In A Sermon Titled "Plural Marriage-For The Righteous Only" Given At The Salt Lake City Tabernacle Sunday Morning July 7, 1878 (Journal of Discourses Vol. 20 p. 31) Sadly the LDS Church at the time chose to lie about the leadership practicing polygamy with multiple men publicly claiming the church did not condone the practice of polygamy while simultaneously practicing it behind closed doors. Defenders of the LDS Church such as Fair Mormon admit this reality, exclaiming that the church had to lie in order to protect itself. Lastly I found the LDS church teaches a false works based salvation as documented in their writings… "For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” -2 Nephi 25:23 "We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel" -Mormon Articles of Faith 1:3 "If ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you…” -Moroni 10:32 According to these writings, God’s grace is only available to you “after all you can do”, “If you deny yourself of all ungodliness, loving God with all your might, mind, and strength”, and “if you obey the laws and ordinances.” This is not a message of hope, but of death as no one is able to do all of these things. Do you do “all” you can do every day? Do you always deny yourself of all ungodliness? Do you always keep the laws and ordinances? Of course not, no one can. Therefore God’s grace (according to the LDS church) is “not sufficient for you”. This is absolutely not true! That’s why Paul writes in Ephesians 2:14-18, “For he (Jesus) is our peace…having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances.” We are no longer bound to the laws and ordinances like the LDS church claims. Joseph was so committed to convincing people of a works based salvation he attempted to re-write the book of Romans adding “works” into the text… Original KJV version Romans 4:16… “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.” Joseph Smith version Romans 4:16 “Therefore ye are justified of faith *and works* through grace, to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to them only who are of the law, but to them also who are of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.” I love the Mormon community and want you to know leaving the LDS church is not the end of someone’s story, but it’s the beginning! It’s stepping into the brightness and fulness of Christ and his pure and true Gospel. Jesus’s church never “fell away” as Joseph claimed. It’s been alive and active, guided and protected by the Holy Spirit for 2,000 years and will continue until the return of our Savior Jesus Christ. God bless!

I could delve into all of the shortcomings, incorrect teachings and ideas, and questionable practices of all of them, but it would take a great deal of time. That said, I’ve heard all of these thoughts you’ve expressed regarding my faith, and you have your opinions. But faith is faith, and we have different views. I do know that salvation comes to all solely because of Jesus Christ, and that it’s by Grace that we are saved. I know it’s a free gift to all. Paul and James both spoke of works, and we debate what they meant, but so much of it is dependent upon understanding the context. Quoting verses doesn’t always solve the problems, and it often requires a slow, deep dive into the material or else we end up talking past each other. So, I will say this: I know my Redeemer lives. I know why He came and that it’s because of Him that we have salvation. Because of Jesus Christ all will be resurrected one day and He will judge. So, I will let Him do His work and not tell Him that I’ve already been saved because I’ve already determined that I am. Revelations 20:12, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 14:12.

That's not true, as an evidentionalist does the same and uses evidence to not just presupose they are correct, quick example is if you read romans 9 and presupose calvinism, then your isegetical reading will presupose your calvinist views. You can have a presupposition and solidify it with evidence. This is both affective and logically sound.

Maybe it's your faith with the whole different meaning that's deceptive. How would one be able to tell which beliefs are deceptive and which are true? You know the situation Smith was in. Everyone was saying their beliefs were true and the others' were deceptive. Everyone was using the Bible to prove such. Everyone was using reason to prove such. Everyone was claiming the Spirit was with them, proving them right, their beliefs resting on confirmation of the Spirit. Such hasn't changed. You've got videos calling other faith's cults. Others have videos calling YOUR faith a cult. You've still got multiple faiths saying they're true, based on the Bible, reason and the Spirit. Ultimately it comes to reason, information, that decides the truth, and THEN the Spirit confirming such. Testimony, knowledge, surety doesn't come until AFTER your faith has been tested, challenged, AKA you've REASONED things out. If you base your faith on the spirit - everyone is right. If you base your faith on reason - you're nearly there. It's both.

And another thing you're doing is judging select ppl in the past by what we know in the present and by standards in the present, while ignoring or being ignorant of other people in the past, including in Christianity. They get a pass. They don't even get looked at, just Smith, and not in comparison to others of other religions of the time, but only by what you know now and by your standards now.

"When a Mormon speaks to a Christian," one day, I know you will come to see us as brothers. That in the grand scheme of things we are not that different. I don't know how you can sit here and sell books, pamphlets, ads, and everything else and claim you care for the preaching of the good news. I won't quote the Book of Mormon, but the new testament. By their fruits you shall know them, and the fruits of the spirit are love, joy, and peace. I have experienced things in the lords house that I can not explain nor deny. I have seen gods hand in my life because I faith I put in him and his son, Jesus Christ. He came and died for my sins, that one day I could be redeemed and walk among him and the father. We are Christians, yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

You mention brothers. But even the Bible disagrees with Mormon doctrine on that “brotherhood.” You cannot radically change God’s word and still claim God.
@Datlil_Gun6 ай бұрын
@@Manzanita1890 am I not your brother in christ? I know which passage you're referring too, talking of being adopted into the family of christ. But are we not all children of God? He is our creator? What are we to call him but father? Does that not make you and I brothers? You mention our doctrine of brotherhood. I have read the new testament cover to cover, and I have seen nothing that would refute the idea that we are not family. You reap what you sow, and again? The fruits of thenspirirt our love joy and peace. You take a comment extending an olive branch, to say you aren't my brother. Your fruit is rotten. If I am to believe that God has no place in my church, and I've been lead away, why is your form of ministry failing on that simple test, "by their fruits you shall know them."

Mormonism IS another denomination of Christianity. If other denominations are denominations because they hold similar beliefs to other denominations - if A=B because A is similar to B - then since Mormonism holds similar beliefs to other denominations, then it too is a denomination. If B=C because B is similar to C, then, since A=B and B=C - A=C too. Sure there are key differences between denominations - that's why groups split into other groups. But if they differ on key issues, then why are they yet still included as denominations? Your thinking just doesn't hold up to basic reasoning, and yet you just casually state such things as fact, then viewers take such as fact. How do you know you have truth if you don't test it, don't think through it? And you keep talking about how Mormons, missionaries, are deceptive. Isn't stating things that aren't true, as fact, things that haven't been remotely logically thought through as fact, things that haven't been tested as facts not to be tested - isn't all such kinds of deception? You tell them X without really explaining it, really testing it, really thinking through it - and they take it the same. THAT'S DECEPTIVE!

Now the main Apologia Studios channel wants to challenge "Mormonism" again. But it's just the Utah plant guys. And you're targeting Preach My Gospel. It's absolutely wild that you claim the manual is vague about our theology. Is that because it doesn't include any quotations from the Journal of Discourses? That would also explain your view of the Articles of Faith. Priestcraft at it's finest.

In my faith tradition, priestcraft refers to men who set themselves as a light to the world to get gain. That is precisely what Apologia does with the LDS faith. In this case, they are promoting a book which allegedly debunks Preach My Gospel. They can say whatever they want about our faith because they will get monetary gain from it.

@42:30 I hate to make a comment for the Google algorithm. But the Irony is overwhelming. These are Preachers for the Unknown Transexual God (per John Paul II) The God they preach is a force and is very Unknown. He has no purpose.

@clearstonewindows You misunderstood what was being said here. He was speaking of Paul proclaiming the God who has revealed himself to mankind to a society who had a statue to an unknown God. The God proclaimed by these men is the God who has revealed Himself in the scriptures and most fully in the incarnation of God the Son, the man Jesus Christ. Far from unknown or a “force”… God is triune, personal, loving and just.

@UnlimitedMercy7 ай бұрын
@@clearstonewindows To be clear, I am not a scholar on the Trinity, but my basic understanding derived from the Old and New Testaments is this: There is one being of God who has eternally existed in three coequal, distinct, but not separate, persons; The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. The purpose God has in creation is to display His attributes and glorify Himself. The reason I use Him is because that is how the scriptures speak of God.

It must be very uplifting pretending to love but there’s so much hate in one’s heart, imagine listening to a sermon that is always attacking another religion instead of learning how to be like Jesus. All Christians are called to discernment. Furthermore, the Bible is the word of God, and is therefore infallible because God wrote it. Humans are fallible, and therefore aren't capable of writing things that are 100% correct 100% of the time. The Bible's authority is derived from its inerrancy as the word of God. Furthermore, scripture makes the case that it makes the man of God complete and equipped for every good work. It's sufficient within itself. You sound like a gnostic, claiming to have some sort of secret knowledge. Tell me, who are these "real intellectuals", and what, in your opinion, makes them more intelligent than God? And also, how do you plan to explain to God on judgment day that you exalted other people (possibly even yourself) as if they were more intelligent than Him?
