Tres dias! It's a life changing experience. It comes from the Crusillo Movement from the Catholic Church. Grew up Catholic, and blessed that my whole family was involved in the movement. It made them take their walk with God seriously and reading the Bible for themselves and a principle that was taught to me. Not Catholic anymore but much respect for that movement.

I’ve been living in Utah for the last 18 years. I was born and raised in South Dakota and married a Presbyterian from Iowa. Living in Utah for as long as we have I see everything that is being said here. The temple worthy parents would not let their kids play with my kids because we were not Mormon. We were seen as not being worthy enough! We have some friends that are LDS, but they’re more Jack Mormon than they are Mormon. What’s crazy is we found out that they knew who we were, where we worked and how much we made when we bought our house. There was a red X on our house on the ward map because we told them that we were not interested in becoming Mormon.

Absolutely loved listening to this. I think a lot of people don’t tackle morons b/c they just don’t know all the nuances. Watching Jeff Durbin talk with them leaves me feeling VERY inadequate, and I’ve studied them to some degree! I read a book some time ago (Mormonism, Mama ANd Me) and got an idea. I struggled with their blood atonement philosophy... as in two young Mormon missionaries came to me and i tools them i wasn’t interested in a religion that believed that, to which he replied they didn’t and i tools him he needed to go back and look at their doctrine. I never saw them again. But i have to admit, Mormons seem willing to put themselves out there NO MATTER WHAT and Christians fear looking like fools so they just don’t.

Loved every minute. Trusted Jesus in ‘89 having been an agnostic previously. Walter Martin on radio got me interested in Mormonism as study for evangelism. Only time I ever felt I saw a dark spiritual being was shortly after purchasing an early 20th C version of BOM to have as witnessing tool for missionaries at my door. Happened as I was waking from a deep sleep - I donated that BOM to a local Ex-Mormons for Jesus group that very day (some things are better left to stronger Christians and I was still a baby Christian then). I still have dozens of publications from the Tanner’s ministry to Mormons. The American history of LDS is fascinating in itself. This video “happened” to come across my YT recommendations and I “happen” to be recovering from surgery so had spare time to view. Nice to hear the association with James White at the end. Fun couple with an interesting story and a host willing to let it be told fully. DO get a part 2 recorded!

I am just going to go out on a limb here and ask.... have y'all ever heard of a neurological condition called narcolepsy? It's a neurological sleep/wake cycle disorder that results in a lot of the type of things y'all attribute to demonic activity. A few years after I became a Christian my narcolepsy, that I have had since childhood, got worse. I literally have had the exact same dream of demons coming out of a wall to get me. I have had hypogogic hallucinations of demons taunting me by my bedside. (They were cartoon demons though so it was easier to tell this was just a nightmare. ) I have had sleep paralysis countless times and auditory hallucinations (people yelling, doors slamming, even a voice whispering to me) almost every night unless I turn on a sound machine. However, I also have a medical condition that causes me to slip into and out of REM inappropriately resulting in various parasomnias. I have taken various sleep studies and an EEG that shows my brain does not cycle through sleep correctly, which causes my parasomnias. I just worry there are fellow saints out there mistaking real tangible medical events as demonic activity who should probably see a sleep specialist (preferably neurological sleep specialist). It kind of reminds me how people used to mistake those who had seizures as being possessed with demons. My concern is that there are saints out there that believe they are demonically possessed and think God has left them when He has not left them, they are just chronically ill and probably need to change up their sleep routine. I believe in demons and demon possession but I also believe narcolepsy is mistaken for demonic activity way too often.
@jordantheriverman61433 жыл бұрын
Its not always either/or when we are talking of specific illness and demonic activity. Its a complex area and i believe there can be overlap. Over spiritualizing and reducing complex issues to naturalistic explanations can fail as its a tough balance for wisdom.
@Tatersthezebra883 жыл бұрын
@@jordantheriverman6143 We don't tell dementia patients they are possessed. We don't tell epileptics they are possessed. We don't tell people with rapid vision loss that their hallucinations make them possessed. Then why is it okay when people are clearly experiencing something like sleep paralysis or parasomnias that they are possessed? I will be the first to tell you that we are an overly pyschologized society. We are people who have both a body and a soul. Our bodies are broken in surprising ways and to ignore neurological infirmities that can be physically observed through a series of lab tests and call it demonic is just as harmful as saying someone who is addicted to hard-core drugs aren't in sin because they're an "addict." I think we need to be careful not to wound the consciences of Christians that do not have a clear theological understanding of physical infirmities vs. demonic possession. I have never been demonically possessed, but I have been afflicted by frightening implications of a neurological disease. Either way the solution is to come to Christ and fall heavily in His arms. (And by that I mean the gospel) The problem is if you teach "you cannot be christian and possessed" then share all these stories of people having parasomnias and call it possession, there will be weaker brothers and sisters that will draw the conclusion, "I must still not be saved because I still have this parasomnia and it isn't going away." We have effectively taught them to trust in their experiences and not in the blood of Christ and the Word of God.

If you have been called by God to do something other than that it could be offensive to be told instead you should be at home. A few things right, a few things distorted, and a few things that are just out and out false. I did appreciate a lot of the points made about changes that should be made in culture. Spot on, IMO. I will also add some points for having someone come up with a new critique, that being that LDS parents tend to allow their kids to watch whatever they want as long as they are the age recommended. hahaha. Try so hard to like this show, they have such great information sometimes, just wish they wouldn’t bash Pentecostals so much! I grew up in an independent Pentecostal cult and finally woke up and escaped. However, not all Pentecostal’s are Bethel/legalistic, crazy, cultish etc. Jeez The Apologia folks occasionally come off as judgmental Pharisee’s if I’m being 💯.

I am reformed but know a few wonderful brothers and sisters who attend Assemblies of God churches. If you are a continualist who always tests everything against Scripture, does not use spirit gifts as evidence of salvation or proof of being a better Christian, understand that God uses suffering and trials in His ultimate, perfect plan, and adheres to the basic tenants of the faith, I consider you my brother or sister. You must see, however, that the posture of believing that God continues His revelation removes the guard rails that belief in perfect, complete revelation in Scripture allows. The danger is that every man (or woman) becomes his or her own Scripture. What happens when two believers hear contradictory messages from "God?" This belief is subjective and is particularly attractive for the Joyce Meyer's and Benny Jinn's of this world who tell people that God gives them messages. If you are a continualist and cannot cite an exact contradiction, you must either believe or recognize that all these, "God told me" messages are very subjective. That said, I hope you understand that any push back is love for Scripture and love for Christ's bride. God's Word must always be our standard.

Brandy seems to be making a lot of assumptions. She couldn't manage a marriage, she was miserable in church, she was rebellious and doing drugs; therefore it must be mormonism that was the problem. Mormons can have happy marriages, mormons can enjoy church, mormons can live drug free. Another thing I noticed is she took joking jabs at her husband, would cut him off when he spoke, as just her go-to mode of being. "Everyone fights before they are sealed", since when? Didn't happen with me. I think the problem is with her, not where she happened to be going to church. Half of the stuff coming out of their mouths were either projection or a misunderstanding basic doctrine. If they want to interview exmormons, there are troves of better candidates that could at least give an honest assessment of the LDS church. This lady is off her rocker.

Seriously this is a waste of an episode. Everything this guy is talking about is anecdotal personal experience. What is the point? Any religion or cult can sit someone in this chair and tell first hand accounts of horror stories of their religion. Rather than talking about the reputation of his group of friends, or what he experienced at summer camp, how about something useful like the tenants or catechism of Mormonism?

He was pierced for our iniquities, paying the debt of our sins. Then He rose on the third day, conquering the grave and defeating death. He was seen by hundreds, then ascended into heaven- from where He will return. 1 Corinthians 15:1-5, Romans 3:20, John 19:28-30, Matthew 28:1-7, Revelation 22:20-21)

@9:20 This is something you tell a closed minded person who is harassing you. These arent people that understand Temple covenants, or Gods priesthood, or the restoration of the 10 tribes, or the prophecies yet to be fulfilled as the kingdom Daniel saw (that shall never be destroyed) have to be put into motion by an organization guided by Christ himself. What do you tell a person who has no knowledge of these things but has been brainwashed and mind controlled into thinking their lack of knowledge of the "mysteries of God" somehow justifies the way they look at other believers in Christ? There is almost nothing you can say. All you can do is know that all of these misguided efforts and well meaning people are not doing or saying anything new. The tinkling cymbals will all fade into obscurity as the Lords restored Gospel spreads around the globe to every nation, kindred, and tongue. What does a street corner sectarian church have to offer a temple worthy family with the Priesthood of God in their home? Jehovah allowed Elijah called down fire from the Sky - Christ now allows his authorized ministers to build his kingdom brick by brick preparing the Earth for His return. .. But let's talk about scout camp.
