Me either looking back but most are born into it and brainwashed as kids. Took me until age 20 to wake up. Then had to research everything written including translations, study bibles, I went crazy to find the right one. I realized just asking Jesus for help would work so I did that, let go, and after all that intellectual learning was led by my heart to what I believe. Protestant, Reformed. Ok I’m still unsure what denomination I am, but I’m away from the lies and serve my Savior. I’m glad so may people like him are gently helping break the conditioning of “The Organization.”

They are kept from learning terms which we use in Christian churches (by their org never teaching it to them). As soon as they recognised your knowledge they shut down, because you became “teacher”. @@bloomhop It’s not really debatable. The evolution of the trinity can be traced by the writings of the “early church fathers”, who were predominantly subordionationists. I would recommend the book “381 AD”. It discusses the Edict of Thessalonika, where the pagan Roman emperor, Theodosius, decreed the trinity on the “church” by threat of violence and death. All dissent was crushed by threats of violence. On top of that, the Bible doesn’t teach the trinity and, more importantly, Jesus himself never claimed to be God.

I had the same experience at my local train station. I stopped to talk to two Jehovah Witnesses and when pressed the one asked to speak with me later . I told him I live right down the street and gave him my address and he said he would come talk another time . Well he never did but providence would have it a group of about 8 JW’s came through my apartment complex months later and the same gentleman was the one to knock on my door lol. I invited him in and reached for my Bible on the book shelf by the door and he soon departed and was able to tell them in love I call them to repentance for their false gospel and different Jesus . I had a similar experience at my college when I approached some Jehovah Witnesses with John 1 They flipped my questions into accusations of me only coming to attack them and tell them they are wrong. I politely explained I wanted a conversation, and that they also think I am wrong- they quickly made it clear that they NEVER said that I was wrong. I was a little dumbfounded by that comment because we had just been discussing the differences between Christianity and their beliefs. I wasnt offended that they thought I was wrong. They then accused me of not following Jesus and they were the ones following Him because they were out there sharing the gospel and had never seen me doing the same. Mind you it was my first day on campus and had never seen them either! I am encouraged by these videos and have learned a lot about what it looks like to reach the lost and step out in boldness in our ministry. It is a joy to share in the ministry of reconciliation in Christ. Thank you guys for all the devotion you have to share these conversations and knowledge you have from scripture!

@lukash my experience is similar to yours. When I was sharing our gospel tracts at a mall I encountered two JWs. We ended up talking a out our differences and the JW lady then started making snide remarks about never seeing us out there sharing the kingdom message like her group. I was young and a bit radical. I countered by stating that she was in a cult.

I left the JWs in the 80s. I don't remember them ever saying to run away. Wonder if that's a new teaching? So scared of someone praying for/with him? So ridiculous! Young LDS missionaries came to my door, I was happy to pray with them. Doesn't mean I believe in or will join their religion. 🙄 In the 70s I remember a JW had a pastor as a return visit. He never converted, but I think they enjoyed debating each other. At least it gave the JW lots of talk material 😂

It's never too late for anyone as long as they're still alive. We need to pray for Jesus to preserve their lives until they get saved. I was recently at my local university for an event, and the JWs had multiple carts. I stopped at one and asked them if they can show me the significance of 1914 just using their Bible. Not only could they not do it, they didn’t even have a Bible. The reality is that the JWs manning these carts are there to just pass out their literature and then point people to their website for any questions. The JW religion has been extremely dumbed down over the last 25 years and they have no depth of knowledge whatsoever to explain many of their beliefs. They just point to the verse in Revelation about no more sickness and death and call it good.

Also there was no gathering of the elect in 70 A.D and no final judgments as described at the end of Matthew 24 and all through Matthew 25. For me the preterist reading of Matthew 24-25 falls short. It looks plausible in Mark 13:1-25, until you get v.26-37 and realize that those verses did not happen in the 1st century either. I love the questions you ask, you really got the JWs thinking! But I wouldn’t use preterism to bring them to Christ, there are quite a few born again believers who are not preterist.

How long did they stay in “the holy city?” Did they get a resuscitated physical body like Lazarus or did they get a glorified body? What happened to them after this story? Notice that it is accompanied by the earth shaking. Long story short, I’ve always taken this as a message from God that the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus are earth shaking, life altering events, and that his crucifixion and resurrection means a future resurrection unto life for all who trust in him. That’s what this initial token resurrection says to me.

​​@@gregory7406 Do you know that neither of the verses you quoted deny the doctrine of the Trinity? In fact, 1 Cor 8:6 calls Jesus Lord, actively affirming Hid Deity. To call the Father God and Jesus Lord does not deny Christ's Divinity, it proves it. Jesus said to Satan, "It is written: you shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only". Here He shows that there is only one God, Who is the Lord. The Father and Jesus are one, as Jesus said in John - the same book you quoted from. Just because the Father is God, and He sent Jesus, does not imply that Jesus is not God. Repent and believe the gospel if the Kingdom of God. Christ is both God and Man.

This happened to me just a few weeks ago. In the same way that they shut down and wanted to shoo Geoff off after he brought something up they didn't want to hear, I had exactly the same thing happen to me when i brought up the subject of the Watchtower involvement in the UN. Remarkable! I spoke to JWs in Hong Kong, and we ended our conversation on the EXACT SAME response from them: "WE just have to agree to disagree". They said this after I questioned them about Thomas' confession of Jesus as God- and how we see that in the rest of Scripture, angels of God alway refused worship. I am not as wise, nor did I know the greek like Jeff does, but when they tried to use the firstborn of all creation, I told them that it was a title and privilege given to a person of pre-eminence in Jewish tradition.

Jeff is teaching what's called preterism. That Matthew 24 and Mark 13 have only a single application, with no relevance to anyone beyond the people living at that time. This is incorrect, and where the Jehovah's Witnesses were correct in understanding that those chapters have a dual application.

I was raised as a JW, but broke free at age 20. First, you addressed them with great communication skills and knowledge. I really enjoyed how loving and kind you were in this Biblical rebuke. By that I mean a rebuke to try to help others be Saved. So well done and gentle, but as you see they are closed minded while wanting others to listen to them as “only we have the Truth.” *addressed at the bottom of this comment* Anyway, I then started just reading different translations (all except paraphrase lol) and the world of Spurgeon, all of that (Sproul, MacArthur, Charles Stanley, and hundreds of others. Working through study bibles now. LSB is my current favorite. My only disagreement is theological and small about the Last Days. I’ve not read anything that quite goes with the idea that he was only speaking to THAT generation, 2,000 years ago. I’m in agreement with Charles Sturgeon but open to being corrected of course. Basically this summary of Sturgeon on the Last Days is what I agree with and believe: According to Charles Spurgeon, "the Last Days" refer to the period leading up to Christ's second coming, a time marked by increasing wickedness and moral decline, where believers should remain vigilant and prepared for their final judgment, emphasizing the importance of living a life dedicated to Christ in anticipation of that day; he believed that at Christ's return, believers would be resurrected and transformed into their heavenly bodies, experiencing a final separation between the righteous and the wicked

I think he was referring to Matthew 24, which I believe was a partial fulfillment. This is why Jesus tells them some would see his kingdom come before their dead. Jeff was correct it that aspect.
