Some really beautiful views today, Chuck, but it looked your feet got wet!! Your stealth site looks fantastic! A real gem! What is the orange thing you have hanging behind you in your tent? I'm so excited for you and Bluegrass to get to Katahdin! Stay safe, and enjoy your slackpacking😊

Thanks. It’s a flextail pump. It also doubles as a light in the tent.

Nice views on this day of hiking. I’m thinking you’re getting very close to 100 mile wilderness by now. I know your body is ready to go home. You guys are tough!

We should be there in a few days

I was wondering how often you take a break? Other older hikers usually seem to take a break at least every 2 hours, even if its just for a few minutes. I know the terrain might also dictate how often you stop.
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
We normally take a short break in the morning, lunch, and another short one in the afternoon

I guess Maine is just a collage of all those states you’ve hiked through.

Yeah. They picked out the toughest parts

That’s a trail? You gotta be kidding me. It looks like the middle of nowhere. Good for you. That stuff is not for me.

It’s all amazing to me😄

@@ChuckHowell-Outdoors I would love to do something like that. I’ve run 38 marathons in my 71 years, but I think the challenges of that trail are much greater than a mere 26 mile run. Congrats to those who accomplish or even attempt to accomplish that challenge. It seems almost super human. I think I’ll just watch it on U Tube.
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
Hahaha. I feel the same about running a marathon. That may be the next challenge on my bucket list.

When hiking an eight hour day and posting a 23 minute video, how much editing did that entail? How many minutes did you have recorded before you edited?
@brianmcintyre7404Ай бұрын
An excellent question. I have wondered the same thing.
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
Normally, I cut out less than 10 minutes of video. I try to video what I think will be interesting to people, and only edit for length or when I fumble over my words.

Gorgeous views. I’ve only hiked in Acadia in Maine. Beautiful there too! I hope your videos inspire some trail maintenance where it’s needed!

I hope so too!

Lots of different terrain and some great views. Thanks for all the work that goes into the videoing, editing and uploading so we can enjoy this wonderful trail. Getting close to Katahdin! The videos I've watched of hikers climbing Mama K, it looked straight up and rocks. But like you said, the adrenaline will be so high, you'll be smiling. You and Bluegrass are doing a super good job of hiking. Take care.

Thanks. Can’t wait to climb it.

Here’s a view, maybe on those nice and smooth paths, walk slower to enjoy them longer😊

Noted! Hahaha. We walk fast on those because it’s the only way to make time up.

That trail reminds me very much of the trails on Isle Royale in Michigan. Wonderful memories. Be safe my friend.
