Good video with lots of good beautiful views, with lots of bad rock climbing up the sides of the mountains, so let's keep on hiking 😊

@@jeffandmaila I went down Madison and it took quite awhile. Madison is a perfect shaped mountain. I’m bionic, my right hip was replaced so I had to be careful dropping down to Pinkham Notch.

I love you guys so much lmfao, The part where Maila is breathing heavy showing us viewers how difficult this section can truly be and then looking up at the steep incline still to go and we pan to Jeff who is just like "you know that sandwich I had the other night was really good" 😆. Cinematic Gold.

Another extraordinary day out of many extraordinary days. Bravo to you both for all that scrambling.Your videos are the best I have seen for giving would-be through/section hikers a very clear idea of what to expect. I would love to section hike the trail or maybe even through hike it but your New Hampshire coverage gives me some serious pause. 😮 Not sure my 66 year old knees could take those down hills. But it's lovely to see the miles go by with your great videography. Maila, I once did a mult-day race/hike out west and Oreos were my favorite treat at the end of each long day. I savored those even if they did add weight to my pack. Hope you enjoyed them once you stopped!

There was mostly rock climbing up a very steep mountain with very little hiking that day. At least y'all were able to hike beside a scenic stream prior to beginning the strenuous task of climbing those rocks. "Do I have life insurance?" 🙂 There was a brief scenic view of the Presidential Mountains and then another scenic view prior to reaching the Wildcat Gondola ski lift and more scenic views from that area. And I suspect that y'all had to descend a bunch more rocks prior to reaching the lake. The Sloth Hiking Team ladies at the Carter Hut appeared to be enjoying their hike. That was a great place to stealth camp near Carter Dome and a beautiful area to eat dinner with a very scenic view of the surrounding mountains that had occasional rays of sunshine streaming through the clouds. It was a good ending to an arduous day. How far from the campsite was the dinner site?
@jeffandmaila
@jeffandmaila Жыл бұрын
It was a fun hike, and we saw some young people climbing that day. The campsite was only .1 mile from the summit. We saw a note on farout that some people camped up there, but we didn't see any flat spots. It could also get windy.

@@jeffandmailaI have meant to ask if y'all chose a tarp for the thru hike rather than a tent because of less condensation or because of the weight difference - or both?
@jeffandmaila
@jeffandmaila Жыл бұрын
It's both, plus it's so much easier to set up the tarp. You can practically set it up anywhere. It's pretty useful to block the front of a shelter, too, if the wind or snow is blowing in.
@Sunshine-Patches2024
@Sunshine-Patches2024 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffandmaila My question is, Did you have any critters come under your tarp during the night and if so, what state was the worst and what kind of critters was the worst? I like the tarp idea but I don’t like the idea of a skunk or snake deciding they would like to share our shelter!
@jeffandmaila
@jeffandmaila Жыл бұрын
@Sunshine-Patches2024 Do slugs count?😄 We never had snakes or other concerning critters bothering us. There were a ton of slugs in Maine. I remember seeing them on our shoes, ground liner, and even inside our cooking pot while the lid was on! However, we have each a bivy bag that keeps little critters out. We will try to talk more about it when we do our gear video.

Also, I have to say, of all the trails I've done in NH, that was one of my favorites. And yours video is one of the few that really "did it justice." Even mine did not give the full experience like your did. So well done on a REALLY tough section of trail to VLOG.
