You definitely get a pass whenever you need to recoup from injuries, fatigue, and or take shelter from bad weather. Those don’t count against you. You are more important than the miles always remember that you were there to have fun and take us along with you and you can’t do that if you enjoy yourself stay safe enjoy the trail.❤

Will, you did a great job of editing the dam walk. At 11:24 the way the leaves were blowing made me think of the photo of Marilyn over the grate. Updraft 😂

Don't stress the miles. Just keep moving north. It is easier to make up miles in VA because there are long cruisy sections. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you will get there. Thanks for sharing your journey!

We used to keep our House boat at Watauga Lake,it is a beautiful, clean lake ,There are lots of sailboats there ,too Yes it a TVA built lake ,used for electricity. Maybe a Zero would help you with your Mental Health too ,it’s a real thing on the trail ,I had a friend who had to get off completely because of that .that was 2 years ago and hasn’t hiked since ..,it is very common

The basket on the poles is for snow. They should come off then the tip goes back on without it. At this point it’s too late but when you get replacements take it off.

Captain, I find a small twig/branch about 2-3 feet long and carry it in front of me when I hike early and it knocks the spider webs down before I walk into them. Glad you enjoyed the Brownies for breakfast.

Great idea. He could even use his poles, but it's easy to say "hey mom, do you want to go first for a while?" And then I know I will be silk blazing. Ha

Scrap the miles bank, causes too much stress! The general rule is if you’re not to Harper’s Ferry by 4th of July you should consider flipping up to Katahdin and hiking south to where you flipped. Eliminates the mileage stress and you’ll get to see lots of people that you met earlier in your hike as you go south bound. You both are strong hikers and completely capable but taking 3 weeks off is a lot. You really can’t make all those miles up it’s just not safe or realistic especially later in the hike when everyone’s mileage drops because the difficulty increases. Anyway, just my thoughts. You’ll figure it out!

Rest days do NOT count -- with one exception. When counting your daily average distances at the end, you do include your rest days. NOT days and weeks away from the trail completely, such as that time that Largo/Captain had his studies to catch up with -- but resting on the trail itself is a trail day, despite the fact that it also does not count. Do not expect logic on the trail !! Well, anyway, you'll both work this stuff out in your own way ...
