Once fully spooled, does it look like you can fit a longer rope?

After taking my steel cable off I used emery cloth on the spool and put a hause fairlead on. I didn't want any burs rubbing on the new synthetic.

You can make a molly hogan on steel cable. That would actually be a good video to show people how if you are in a pinch.

Better options is you take wire cable and spool out till you come to good area. Then take two 4x4 boards and pinch wire between them. Tightly. Then use winch to to respool wire. The wood gets against fairlead and it'll unkink wire. I fix my wrecker cable like this. But synthetic rope is best option. I have on all my winches.

Synthetic winch rope is nice until you get it caught on something or waterlogged or full of mud. That’s why I like winch cable because it’s stronger and easy to use

Hey Jason I just found your channel as I may be buying an Rmax4. I just sold my x3 I've had for 5 years. They are great machines, but living in SW Pennsylvania must of or riding is tight and technical. I was planning on just keeping my teryx 4 I've had since 2013. That poor machine gets hammered harder than anything I own and it just keeps going. It will go anywhere if you're willing to beat it hard enough, but nowhere fast. It seems the rmax is a perfect fit. Same wet clutch, wheelbase, and width as the teryx, but way more suspension and way more motor!!

I’m located in central Pa so I can say that the Rmax is a great fit for our PA trail riding and will be like a Cadillac compared to your T-Rex! And has the power and speed the teryx lacks for sure. You should be quite happy with it!

I’m currently in the process of installing the Badland 5000 on my RMAX4. Where do I tie in the thin red wire?? It says to splice into an ignition source. How did you set yours up. I literally have a screen shot of your last install video and mimicked your layout except I can’t make out where that little wire goes.

@AppalachianMountainRiders
@AppalachianMountainRiders 2 жыл бұрын
You do have to trim the top corners of the fairlead a bit to get it to fit in the hole in the bumper. I just cut the corners off diagonally and that’s all. I’ll make an overview video top priority and get it shot this week!

That Allen screw will pull right through that rope, you should have looked up the right way to spook it on
@AppalachianMountainRiders
@AppalachianMountainRiders 2 жыл бұрын
That’s why you always leave at a minimum 3 or 4 wraps of the winch cable or rope around the winch spool. Then you never have to worry about it. You never want to completely unspool the rope, ever, under any situation.

Why didn’t you switch the fairlead? You need a fairlead made to use with synthetic.
@AppalachianMountainRiders
@AppalachianMountainRiders 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never run a hawse fair lead with synthetic and have never had an issue. And I’ve used roller fair leads with plows for years and have never had an issue. To me, and the way my mind works...lol, a hawse fair lead will cause more friction and increase the chance of synthetic breaking. I’m no winch expert though, I’ve just never had any reason to switch when running synthetic.

@@AppalachianMountainRiders Interesting. Maybe I’m mislead. Or maybe the other fairlead are just a marketing ploy. Thanks for your response.

Putting blue synthetic winch rope on that winch is really stupid . Synthetic winch rope to me is junk . I wood never put a synthetic winch on any of my badland winches I will always have cable on my winches
@AppalachianMountainRiders
@AppalachianMountainRiders Жыл бұрын
I feel the exact opposite. Cable rusts, kinks, gets burrs that poke and jab your hands, and if it breaks you’re not only in danger of getting really hurt if it hits you, you also have no way to fix it unless you carry cable clamps with you. Synthetic is just as strong as cable with being lighter, will never kink, and if it breaks it doesn’t hold the kinetic energy like cable does so you’re less likely to get hurt if you are near by and a simple knot can be tied to fix it. To each his own and if you prefer cable then that’s your choice but I find synthetic to be far superior.
