I don't usually say much about Chinese militaria, but that is one very cool bayonet! I really like the 3-dimensional ground taper and fullers on that bayo. Don't know what they were thinking when they came up with that split pea soup colored scabbard though... Thx! Zk added comment: $39.00 via eBay, to my door in Southern AZ, USA. Received in exact same condition & packaging as shown in video. In my hand, only point of emphasis is that the scabbard/frog feel & look really really cheap & flimsy. Bayo feels solid. Still impressed with the almost cruciform grind on the blade. Definitely a good pig sticker! Now I want the rifle...LOL Zk

As someone who owns a T81. Honestly the gas system, although short stroke, is more remenicent of an SVT-40 or SVD than an SKS due to its unshrouded nature. The extra length of bolt travel for recoil midigation the Chinese designed into it makes the gun feel more like a scaled town SVD than the AK/SKS hybrid everyone calls it.

Interesting, I haven't had a chance to look at a type 81 yet. Hopefully get to check one out in December
@thefiringpin88132 ай бұрын
@@pointynotsharp Everyone says AK/SKS hybrid so can't blame you. But I don't see much SKS in it aside from the basic operating principle of the gas system. Much more reminiscent of an SVD although the bolt is more AK like.

great video, the one you showed in the video is indeed in a great copy of the Type 81 bayonets, but I won't recommend anyone to buy it and use it as an outdoor tool. This is because there are a ton of factories making those things and it is impossible to identify the quality. The worst copy I seen does not even had a full Integrated keel, instead, they have the blade only till the O ring and they will use a thin bar to connect with the bottom of the handle. and when you put some weight on them they will broke from some were near the O ring, and most of them had not been through any reliable Heat treatment, so as you using it you will have a Curled Blade and when you punch the tip of the blade. Also military production as far as I know does not have any blade, it was only designed to be stabbed, if any blade exists I will say it is properly done by soldiers themself.

Type 81 rifles are still sold in canada! I own two myself

@ShyGal_Lilly nice, I love the idea of a short stroke AK. I've shot VZ58s but the Type 81 looks much sturdier. How do they shoot?

I bought a cordovan high end wallet that I would have otherwise spent $1000+ dollars on....for $350. Same, if not better quality handmade item and guess where it was made? CHINA. Its a reminder for me what China will be capable of.

why have 2 fullers and 1 ridge in the middle? why don't they have a simpler blade profile for ease of mass manufacturing like they are well known for? a simpler Gladius style blade will be more reasonable

Ive got one with a darker blade,

... well I have a German bayonet from the 2nd GW and an Austrian yatagã, that doesn't matter to me, "trash" _xing-ling_ . . . !

Is the type 81 better quality than the type 87?
@pointynotsharp2 ай бұрын
@legotrainfan1256 the 87 has a nicer blade, but both have pretty crappy crossguards and press buttons

Type 81 is not an AK/SKS hybrid but an AK/SVD hybrid.
@pointynotsharp2 ай бұрын
My understanding is the SVD or type 79/85 in Chinese service was developed alongside the type 81 (I could be wrong). It does have the same short stroke rotating bolt as the Type 81, but so does the Type 63. Every source I can find states it's a AK/SKS hybrid. But without any primary source documents that I can find, I'm happy to say I don't have a clue what inspired it, but it incorporates elements from many Chinese rifles. Could well be a copy of the Russian SVD too

I'm intrigued by these chinese bayonets you have posted recently. Thanks to Gnutzguy testing I can confirm that this one is reasonably durable for its intended purpose (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYCwqZKcnd-thMk&ab_channel=Gnutzguy) despite being replicas of dubious source. I'd like to ask, is the type 81 compatible with other AKs or just with its intended rifle? Between the QBZ, Type 81 and 87 bayonets, which one would you recommend? Are the QBZ and Type 87 also limited to their respective rifles?
@pointynotsharp2 ай бұрын
81 and 87 are interchangeable but I don't think the QBZ is. I still havnt had a look at a QBZ bayonet. Hoping to get one soon
