I can sympathize with him to an extent as I have Tourette's (which can lead to unintended outbursts), it is rough having mental disorders like ADHD and the symptoms are different for people, some people have other triggers or distractions, etc. It is understandable it is more difficult for such people to filter or control their emotions, but it Pyro shouldn't solely blame the disorder for his own actions, if Pyro actually owned up to his actions and demonstrated that he is improving then I can forgive some mishaps here and there, it happens to the best of people. The problem is that it seems to be a recurring theme of him getting baited or having emotional outbursts, then he will apologize and claims to seek professional help, maybe he is seeking one but the therapy or medications may not be as effective as his professional thinks. Pyro needs to chill on the content creation stream, learn to filter the baits, and take a quick break while he consults with a medical professional. I know he has a couple mods that try to help him out there and there and filter out the obvious baits, but they are only human.
@shrubninja6444 Жыл бұрын
Yeah if it were an occasional issue where he had an uncharacteristic outburst or something I would totally understand talking about his issues making things difficult. The problem is that these outbursts are the norm for him, and so it makes any apology seem super disingenuous. He needs to actually make an effort to change if he wants people to stop seeing him as an angry little drama troll.

Funnily enough. Him covering himself up with ADHD as an excuse brings back my trauma. A kid who had "ADHD" was given a free reign in middle school here (like 15 years ago) and everything he did, even if it almost killed me or my peers would be shrugged off "just ADHD thing" by the faculty. Yeah, Pyro can eat shit and start acting like a fucking adult and stop making excuses for his shit behaviour.

Especially with ADHD, it's pretty easy to notice a pattern in your behavior if you're trying. It also doesn't justify doubling down. @@yeetusdeleetus4697 Where did I say any of that? He absolutely is redeemable. I said he wants to blame everything except himself for his actions. Yes he has a mental health issue and behavioral disorder that makes things a hell of a lot harder than it is for a neuro-typical person. It sucks. People with ADHD have harder times filtering stuff sometimes. We also don't form the positive habits like a typical person. Taking a shower, brushing my teeth etc is a conscious decision I HAVE to tell myself to make every day, otherwise I won't do it. Even to my closest friends who know and understand my issues, I will retype every text to them 4-5 times because I don't want to make a mistake with what I say. Having ADHD means you have to learn ways to work around what's simply a natural thing for other people. You have to look at your issues and choose to take one step at a time every single day. It will never just be normal, even when medicated. All I said was that he's choosing to put the blame and fault of his issues on everything except himself. He deserves his career. So seeing This dude throws all of his problems at his ADHD, like it's some remedy that's supposed to fix any fuck up or ill treatment he has of others online. That's never acceptable. This attitude just pisses me off and spits in the face of other individuals who actually MANAGE their disorders and go on living their lives without blaming their issues solely on their mental inhibitions, be it anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, ect. Anyways, I agree. If he's going to improve his overall mental health and mood, he actually needs to address the problem instead of simply blaming it for his life's misfortunes. That attitude simply becomes repetitive and leads to an unhealthy cycle of self destruction, apologizing, never improving and then inevitably waiting to fuck up again.

This whole saga is giving me the vibes of "emotionally manipulating my viewers into feeling sorry for me". Everyone has things they have to go through, trials and tribulations. And just because he has ADHD doesn't mean that he can suddenly do and behave as he wants. My daughter suffers from SEVERE ADHD and I tell her all the time "Having a mental disadvantage does not mean you get a hall pass to act like a jerk." I always reiterate daily "Treat others the way you want to be treated, do to others the way you want them to do to you." Pyro seemed to miss that memo. I have ADHD, Bipolar, PTSD, anxiety, etc., and I could never imagine using any of those as a crutch to why I did something like this. Hell I was told I only produce 15-20% of serotonin and I still make sure I brighten everyone's day I come across just because I never want them to feel how I did with my years of abuse. You don't use your trauma as a get out of jail free card, same with mental disadvantages/disabilities. It takes approximately $0.00 to take accountability, ownership, and responsibility of your actions and work towards changing them in whatever means necessary (therapy, different med swaps, other forms of professional help, etc.) Just my hot take on the situation. I'll be glad when he finally gets his shit together because this is no longer accidental, this is a choice in behavior *shrug*

"emotionally manipulating my viewers into feeling sorry for me" He had a thing a while ago with his girlfriend (fiance? wife? whatever) figuring out she can't have kids via a miscarriage. Perfectly reasonable thing for a person to get emotional about, and if they as a couple want to make that public via a stream or whatever, that's fine. I wouldn't recommend that, but they're free to tell whoever, however. He milked that stream so hard, being as dramatic and emotionally dejected and sad as possible. And normally I wouldn't call that "milking the stream" because again, perfectly reasonable thing to be upset about. But whenever someone made a big donation or there was a technical problem, He would instantly switch over on a dime from openly sobbing and forcefully crying to being totally cheerful/annoyed and addressing it in his normal, every day tone as if nothing had happened, then forget briefly what he was talking about before going right back into the weeping and struggling to talk about it. I could deal with his annoying outbursts and kinda cringe behavior, but that was the stream that made me fully stop paying attention to him (I gotta click on my favorite ract strimmer's take though) It's absolutely emotional manipulation, and he's not even good at it. He's said himself that it's all to drive engagement and get that internet money. What he didn't say is that it's also what xeno keeps saying: it's about ego and attention and validation

I said this on his videos and I'm going to say it here. I was in an emotionally, mentally and physically abusive relatioship for 3 years and at the tail end of that, I sat in a hospital for two weeks watching my newborn daughter in a NICU unit pass away slowly. I have been through some shit NO ONE should ever have to deal with in their life time. Its been 5 years and I'm still absolutely broken. The amount of depression and anxiety I feel knows no bounds, I can barely leave my house to even get the mail without crumbling. I barely sleep, because the night terrors from that trauma is so frequent and so real. I have never in my life treated someone else the way Pyro continuously treats people. I make mistakes, I snap sometimes, I over react, etc. Because everyone does, because thats being human. The difference is the severity of when Pyro does it, and he just keeps going, he doesn't stop and go ohp I messed up. He double downs, triple downs, and then when finally the entire internet is at his throat he makes some garbage apology video while stroking his ego. He's a pos and hes an egotistical narcissist. Point blank. Him blaming every single meltdown he has had over all the years of WoW and now XIV on mental health bothers me a lot. As it clearly bothers a lot of people from the chat in the vod for this video, but also in the comment section. People like Pyro are the reason why mental health is so stigmatized, and why so many people think its just some made up non sense, because you have clowns like this that use it as an excuse everytime they go nuclear for 0 reason. He's a petulant asshole blaming his angry outbursts on an inability to focus and on his penchant to act before thinking, none of which actually covers his ACTUAL problems. I'm sick and tired of people using their mental health disorders as shields for being mean awful people, if you have ODD (like I do) then I can forgive you for being an ass and being angry when someone tries to pull authority. If you have depression and anxiety then I can forgive you for not sticking to plans or socializing, if you have schizophrenia then I can forgive you for having a manic episode. But if you're coming to me telling me that you beat your wife because you have ADHD or that you solicit minors online because you have depression then no, that's just you being a shitty awful person. That's Pyro, that's this apology from him, it's garbage.

Exactly this. I have ADHD, it's pretty bad because I can't afford the medication so it's self managed with caffeine and trying to stick to routines. I don't blow up on my viewers or lose my shit because of it. Outward explosive rage is a symptom of *childhood* ADHD, not /adult/ ADHD. By the time you're an adult, the struggle is internal, not external. We lack impulse control, true, but we're not ragemonsters. Pyro's anger may be contributed to by the frustration that comes with ADHD, but it's not the overall cause, and it's not an excuse. He needs anger management tools.

Pyro needs to take a step back to be honest and just do some self reflection, get off the internet, and touch some grass, for a long time. Full on uncontrollable crying panic attacks at work if a customer or manager chewed me out. It was BAD and it gave me horrible depression. Eventually I decided enough was enough. I got a formal diagnosis and help, and while I still experience issues, it's much less severe or frequent. ADHD might be an explanation for something but it is not an excuse. Plenty of people with ADHD are not assholes. Plenty of people without ADHD are assholes. It sucks to have a brain that does this to you, believe me, I know, but you have to learn to deal with it. It's just what you have to do as a responsible adult who socially interacts with people. If you lash out at someone who does not deserve it, whether you have ADHD or not: you apologize! Pyro has the same mannerisms and way of speaking as my abusive ex. He also has the same excuses.. so watching him is hard. Its really a situation where "I see where I am messing up and I am presenting as vulnerable, I will only hold myself accountable enough to try to manipulate you into believing I am getting better and working on myself" to just turn around and continue doing the same things with no reflection. As if the pity party makes it all go away. People are not asking for unreasonable accountability. He is the one making this WAY BIGGER than it even needs to be.

My 2 cents as someone that does have PTSD and a few issues that come with that, it definitely CAN negatively impact the way you react to certain stimuli, and sometimes you don't have a lot of control in that exact moment, but I personally get help as needed. I have methods of coping with my issues, and I avoid that stimuli whenever it's possible for me to do so. Obviously the world isn't perfect and you can't have 100% control over what happens every moment of every day but you can at least try to minimise it. In this case if I were him, I wouldn't be using social media at all, and definitely wouldn't be streaming because clearly that is a stimuli that triggers and exacerbates his issues. My doctor gave me a really good comparison when I was younger that put it into perspective. Especially since I never took my mental health seriously as a young man, having always recieved the typical "man up" response when it came to my mental problems. Treat it like it's a physical ailment. If you had a problem with your lungs where you occasionally had trouble breathing you should obviously therefore avoid smoking. If you have a torn muscle in your arms or back or whatever, where it hurts to do any physical activity, the last thing you should be doing is hitting the gym and deadlifting 200kg. TLDR, don't actively engage in activities that exacerbate your pre-existing issues.

If he believes his own shit then someone did him a crazy disservice telling him he cant do anything to manage his problems. By his logic, we're all just lumbering sacks of our own trauma and experiences, being led about by the whims of our own emotions and triggers. Basically everything sucks but it's no ones fault. Which is just not true. There are plenty of people with more shit than him who deal with it way better. There are plenty of people with less shit than him who are way worse. It's all in what you do with it. You can have no experience with his issues and still look at what he's doing and say it is fucked and he needs to be better if he wants to be a successful public figure. That's not cold or showing a lack of understanding. It's just fact.

Stopped around the 15 minute mark to say that as a person who has Multiple Sclerosis: I empathize that you have a condition, but man you could have it a hell of a lot worse. I try not to complain anymore about my MS as I've had it for roughly 8 years now, but I could complain about how I will sleep for a week straight or that I have to go on disability because I can't hold a position. Imagining that I graduated college and then get something that changes your life course dramatically sucks, but I know people have it way worse than even I do. So I really hate how he uses something that a lot of people suffer with as an excuse for his shitty behavior. Nah man, you just have a shitty behavior and it doesn't come from your ADHD.

I suffer from severe depression and anxiety and it's fucked my life over. I've lost jobs because of it. But you know what I don't do? Be a complete asshole to people around me. I've had moments of assholiness but I don't blame it on my depression, even if those moments happened on days when I was feeling like crap. That said, depression isn't something that's easy to deal with and it changes from person to person. But that doesn't mean you can go around being a cunt. When I made a mistake with my jobs, I did my best to make sure it doesn't happen again. FF14 helped me survive when I didn't know what was wrong with me. All I knew was that I wanted to die and my friends in FF14 and the game helped me cope, until I finally went to a doctor and learnt that I was suffering from depression. My only real problem with Pyro is that this seems to be a pattern. When I lost jobs to my depression, I did everything I could to make sure that it didn't happen again. I've even improved and only missed a total of 4 days of work in the whole past year, which I'm actually pretty happy about. Keeping my fingers crossed that I continue to improve. Sorry for the long ass comment, didn't mean to write this much.

What people like Pyro seem to not grasp is people don’t come to watch the content, they come to watch YOU REACT to the content. For Example, Grinding Gear has created such an enjoyable community experience as Kyle and Garret make their way through the FF14 MSQ. They allow people to RP during points in the story, and provide very hilarious Voice acting during non voices segments. There’s theory crafting and all kinds of activities. Plus their chemistry together has made people interested in them streaming more games together like Diablo 4 and FF16.

Y'know I struggle with anxiety so strong that it causes physical pain that loops into itself and makes it worse until I either pass out or somehow server the loop with medication or other mitigation. I don't lash out at others, and if I know a panic attack or undue stress is coming I leave the stressor until I can come back with a clearer mind. The only time my problems can impede with life is when I black out from sound or shock. But that's because I seek help with medication and techniques. They're not an excuse to lean back into if I feel I want to lash out.

The thing that really gets me is that he's just dismissing his mental problems as something that's inevitable. If you work to control yourself, seek some counseling, medicate if you need to, just work on your state of mind and avoid the things that set you off, you wont be flying off the handle and ruining your own life all the time. I have pretty bad anger issues, and I used to have some pretty serious depression. I straight up attacked my boss once after a few particularly stressful days of work. I went to counseling, identified the different stressors in my life, and now I can identify when something is making me upset and I keep calm. This was all a few years back and now most people I know don't even know I have anger problems. It takes effort and work to improve your situation, but you have to acknowledge that you're in control and thus your actions are still your fault regardless of whatever conditions you have. That's impossible if you constantly blame everything else in your life for your actions.

As someone who been diagnosed with depression (thankfully lot better now) I can say it really makes me annoyed when people use that as a crutch for how they behave. Cause my depression is what made me start doing youtube again and at most maybe I dropped hints of it in post or vids but never was very vocal about it. Only time id even really speak on the subject is when id tell my viewers like hey i need a extra day or two just mentally not doing the best and that was it. I never used depression as a excuse for my actions. Infact my last time being very depressed sent me to the emergency room from starving myself for 2 days without food and after vommiting so much non stop, sweating from every part of my body I realized I need to change my life around. So Started doing youtube again. And never once have I ever ever blamed my depression on treating someone badly. Cause even as someone who suffers from depression I know that's not right, and honestly I try hard to treat everyone really good and with respect. Im not perfect no one is but this idea of people using illnesses to always justify their bad actions is sickening. But you know what im not a doctor im not pyromancer so I cant speak on his problems. But bro all he has to do is accept he made a mistake, apologize and try to be better, its really not that hard. This dude ego what seems to be really out of control. Again I don't want to hate on this guy ect but its so frustrating as someone who doesn't watch but knows who he is and just see him act this way. To me personally seems like the first apology was cause he was worried about losing out on money and viewers which help generate money even if they don't sub. And ehhh its frustrating to put the least. Hopefully this dude gets the help he needs cause till his ego comes down a few notches idk but I don't see his channel or streams doing to good.

I came from the OG wave ADHD and Autism in the 90's, Pyros issue isn't that he has these issues, it's that he genuinely invests too much time on social media which can really make you cranky and crazy. Is Autism & ADHD hard to deal with? sure is. But blaming them for being a dickhead to people is absurd, I hate being wrong, I've been called an asshole many times but I apologize when I mess up. Pyros real problem is that he doesn't care, he's had a reputation before FFXIV, he carried his reputation over and slowly people got burnt out on him. Lets not forget he had a meltdown on stream, another youtuber made a video about it with the clip of the meltdown and he DMCA'd it, ADHD & AUTISM doesn't cause you to take a swing at fake copyrights and affect other peoples income and hobbies.

I had heavy mental issues 7-8 years ago, my life quality was going downhill quick. I did not seek therapy or anything of the sort. I signed up for military service, ngl first 2 months was worse than ever, since no one knew about my problems, was ending up nearly crying in the bathroom at night for good 20 mins, just feeling sorry for myself. After 2 more months due to all the training and physical exhaustion i was ending up too tired to feel the mental rut and depression. 7 months in the service I became numb to my own mental issues and finally started to feel happiness in my accomplishments. After my service was done, mental problems no longer had any impact to my psyche, they simply became irrelevant to me. Now I'm in such a strong mental state to the point where i can relate to others mental problems, but they seem like first world problems to me. Sometimes it takes real struggles to overcome these minor nuisances that are mental problems. Why do i call them minor? Because after overcoming them that's exactly how they feel to me. Most of the time, therapy doesn't help in any permanent way if your own mental shift doesn't happen. It's your own mental shift is what solves majority of mental issues, not some dude with the degree in psych. Yes, therapists have their own value in the process, but they can't incur your mental to shift back to normal.

It is our responsibility as adults to do what we can to control our emotions, for me that was getting cognitive behavioral therapy for pyro he might want to rethink his career choices or get therapy to learn to handle criticism but a job that involves being exposed to a lot of criticism just might not be a good fit for him and he should take responsibility for that.

He gets to keep his YT channel , money, way of life and people around him who will enable him because he supports them. As someone who has had ADHD diagnosed since I was single digit age, and been apart of multiple therapy groups; BEING AN ASS IS NOT A SYMPTOM. I have been diagnosed with ADHD and probably have depression but that hasn't been diagnosed. I think the mental illness is a battle against a very strong enemy. I can't really blame people when they falter. It all sucks. But what I don't agree with is mentioning it in an apology. I have ADHD and it might contribute to some really dumb, impulsive decisions. But it isn't like I couldn't have controlled myself better. I know my situation. If I say something impulsive and hurt someone, my apology isn't "sorry, it was the ADHD." My apology is "I fucked up and should not have said that. There is no excuse, it was a mistake that I wish I could undo. I hope you can forgive me."

I'm younger than xeno by only slightly. Back when I was a kid, this diagnosis mania was just starting out. I was hyperactive as fuck, naturally aggressive and an all around hell child. My dad's a medical doctor and one of his psychiatrist friends tried to diagnose me with ADHD. Then issue me a "mild" medication. I took it for a day and promptly turned into a goddamn zombie, my mother's words translates from Turkish. So my dad immediately took me off the med, got me into kids basketball and started training me physically himself outside. That ADHD diagnosis was severe by today's standards. And I.... Outgrew it. My father taught me the skills to manage my anger, my basketball coaches taught me how to focus energy and aggression into productive action. Psychologists and psychiatrists have a confirmation bias. Most kids diagnosed by ADHD will effing outgrow it. Stop using the freaking diagnosis as a crutch. No, you do not have ADHD, only a small percentage of adults have actual crippling ADHD. Because actual crippling ADHD is so bad, you would not be able to be a streamer. What you have is a chronic case of being an asshole. And this goes out to not just Pyro but anyone who uses a childhood diagnosis to justify being an asshole the rest of their lives. Much love, - An asshole that at least has some self awareness

My current roommate does have legitimate, medically diagnosed ADHD and bipolar disorder and it's very noticeable, and much different from the usual self-diagnosis you usually see from somebody who just has a short attention span. And even then, he doesn't use those conditions as an excuse to be an asshole to people. I know he feels the urge to, since we talk about stuff like that as roommates, but he's an adult and he knows how to control himself.
