41:42 hot take, I think people should be allowed to dislike any character. Especially in undertale games, where characters are written very mindfully. There's a lot to like about them, but one detail I love about Undertale is that a lot of people do genuinely have a core problem with at least one of the main cast. Whether it's Toriel, Sans, Undyne, Mettaton, Alphys, or Asgore. They all have inherent biases and make judgements through those lens. Of course some people will see at least one of those and go "wait that's a really not cool way of going about things". To me it just shows that the writer did a good job of engaging the player in the moral conversation and gave their characters enough depth to have a variety of interpretations on their actions. TL; DR Characters should get you thinking about their actions, not absolving them entirely. Characters can and should be questioned. It shows that your audience takes you seriously.

My only issue is when people are overly forgiving and loving towards certain characters but treat others who have done similar things as evil. Basically hating on Chara, Alphys, or Asgore for certain actions, but loving Toriel.

you can tell that the Yellow team really loved UT, there's so much passion put in to make it as close to a prequel to the source material that I feel goes under loved, there so much little details that I spent longer time just looking at everything than the fights. (Also Dalv is such a cutie for a little hermit-pire. Bird lady's looney toon attack is affectionately referred to in the speedrunner comunity(UT) as "Random bullshit go!" as that attack name.

Ok so I'm not super far into the video (and therefore the game as a whole) but I really get the vibe that these OCs are spawn of tumblr while undertale characters are much stronger designs that happen to please tumblr. Its hard to describe and its not even necessarily a bad thing but it's just something I've noticed.

Yeah that’s the bad part about undertale making neutral the ‘worthless route’, most people will default to the pacifist route in this game to get the most out of their playthrough even though neutral is the best one to do first (you actually get to PICK who lives or dies too)
