To open more functions, yes. You will have 300 minutes of recording per month for free

Additionally, those 300 minutes are only consumed once you choose to transcribe/summarize/mindmap. In other words, record all you'd like (I haven't reached a threshold, but only got it 1-2 months ago) and be selective about which you convert!

If you just want to record with it and not using transcripts can you still use it as a recorder and record recordings only and nothing else without a substription?

You have to have the Plaud connected to the phone that has the app downloaded to it. You are essentially tying your Plaud to the paired device.

as a bit of a newb to this technology I ask why is a secondary piece of hardware needed for this? as in is there anything stopping ChatGPT from just introducing all these features into their app? say they did couldn't one just run the ChatGPT app and have it do most of these features now other than the different visualization of the document, but again, they could just introduce that into chatGPT. So is there something I'm missing that makes for the need for it to be it's own hardware?

@Y_ang423 no. chatgpt is already on the app store/playstore you could add it into their existing app with no issues from the OS or app store.

This is an amazingly convenient device. Its low tech, a business lunch is a single button push and complete transcription lunch is over. Same with a phone call. Separating it from phone or laptop makes it perfect for so many moments. Its a best productivity hack ive had in a long time.
