The Original 4. RIP Mr. Boon Gould. My favorite band for life. Long live Level 42 and their timeless tunes.

keyboard wizard here Mike Lindup , how his parents met and married . Mike's mother was afro caribbean . If memory serves she was born in Belize, small county at the bottom of Mexico peninsula, bur don't quote me on country of origin. She was a singer, pianist, actress. She came to the UK during ww2 and became a female member of the Brit military . Mike's father was a white british big band leader, music arranger and also wrote some compositions . They met while playing for the UK and other allied troops in the UK . They fell in love married , had mike and one or two other children . Mike Lindup certainly does have the music in his dna !

I was at this concert too, 36 years ago ... unbelievable where did time go?! Level 42 was never the same after Phil and Boon left. R.I.P. Boon Gould!

@@martinuso7446 Aren't you mistaking with Countdown Live? That is not what I went to, that was Level 42 headlining in Ahoy, can't recall if there was a support-act. It was during the time they were sponsored by Levi. Or am I wrong? Such a long time ago ..... Perhaps I saw them in 1986 .. could be ... my bad then. 🙂 Aaaaah, Rocknight with Sade and Talk Talk! That's the concert of this video I guess. I was wrong, saw Level 42 in '86.

I adore Level 42, especially when the Gould brothers were in the band and this live performance is amazing!! 😁👍

This was a day before I turned 15, saw their next concert in Ahoy ('87) but then they were already more pop oriented with the running in the Family album. Still love them and listen to them all the time though. Have seen them at least 10x live since, including every recent tour in the Netherlands sinds early 2000's

Peter, we're all getting old, but respected Mr. Oevelen, I was prepared to kill someone(sounds nasty) to see Level 42 in this era. But I'm child from Eastern block :-(((( Be proud, satisfied, and...I'm sure you're adorer of great music, arts in general....I am, too, but when I was young, Soviets f*cked us on a way like you can see in a movies only. All the best!!!

@ackjass62602 жыл бұрын
Mark King said he was influenced by Sly and the Family Stone bassist Larry Graham's "hand wacka"(or whatever it's called) technique on the bass . neither used it all the time but quite frequently

When the first Level Best came out, I think it was wrong too not show the original line up on the cover & have the new line up on the back, as virtually all the tracks are with the Goulds. Harsh, they must have been hurt by that, presume it was Mark's demand.
@euanelliott36134 жыл бұрын
Very different to the Running In The Family and Staring At The Sun albums. This would have been around the time of the True Colours album. Now I understand why Phil Gould didn't like the more pop oriented style which came later on. The next Level 42 record I'm buying will be A Physical Presence. Boon had the most unusual guitar poise. Pretty cool.
