Loved this recipe! The second time i made it i cooked the apples in the liquid and spices for about 2 minutes before adding the oatmeal. This gave the apples much more flavor and made them softer which i really liked.

i diced up the apples and soaked it in the milk along with a tsp of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg (since those are what i had on me) before adding in the oats, and my oatmeal came out amazing! thank you for this recipe :")

Do you somehow clean the cinnamon stick afterwards? A whole stick seems very expensive for one bowl of oatmeal. This morning I just ground a little off the stick with a nutmeg grinder.
