Really enjoy this video. You're why I've saved all my cores. This morning I've taken 4 ziplocks of cores out the freezer from the season's 80some lbs of apples and 10 lbs pears and they're all in the big pot. I went looking into health benefits of pectin and it's good medicine, pondering adding a pound of dried elderberries to the mix towards the end. Anyway, you've made this so approachable to me. I dont want to buy pectin so jelly I've never done. Thanks again! All the best!

Thank you for the VERY informative video and clear demo on sheeting and tip on how long to cook. My jelly came our perfect! I’ve had produced syrup before and was so bummed haven’t tried apple peel/core jelly for years. It is perfect this time- so glad I kept the apple scraps ☺️

Oh this looks good. I usually use my core to make apple cider vinegar but this certainly looks tastier! I am going to give this a try. :-)

Hi! Thanks for the video! What type of cloth did you strain the apples through? Thanks 🤩

Cheese cloth. You can get it at any fabric section or craft section in most stores. You can wash and reuse. But it is so cheep I just compost it because it is cotton and apple mush.

Watched this last year and it was so helpful. Watching again as it's that time again at my house. Last year I used elderberries and made a great medicine jelly. This year I have ample baby ginger and also have jalapeños. Last year I simmered the elderberries separately, strained and added it in to the cooking apple scraps.. It set up fine.. The ginger has some fibrous pieces and I'd want to strain those out. Do you have an idea when to add the ginger and when to add the minced jalapeños? Thanks!

I would say add both when you are doing the actual jelly. Make sure you have well strained the ginger before adding to the juice. But yeah just add when you are making the actual jelly.

Quick question! So excited to make this. Thank you! Did you say you put the jelly in the jars into your oven at 250? Or were you saying you just heat the jars up in the oven so you can hot pack the hello? Please clarify! Thanks!

I cook the jars empty for 25 mins to sterilize the jars first. Then I add the jelly to the sterilized jars. Then process for timee called for for my sea leval. At less the 1000 ft but more then 500 ft it is 25 mins in a boil bath canner. Again. I feel that wasn't clear. Sterilize jars FIRST. Then add jelly, lid and ring. Then process for time needed for your elevation. Your local collage farming web site can provide time for your specific County for each individual product. Thank you for pointing that out. Since it is that time of year. I am going to refilm and clarify all that information better. Thank you for the great question. I hope I helped answer your question. Check back in a few weeks I will make a new video clarifying all the questions that have been asked of me.

When you process, is that water bath time?
@mommiesaurus3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Water bath canner. No matter what time I say. ALWAYS check time for your city and sea level.
