Newbie from Oklahoma. I never knew you could use the scrapes like this. Looks good. I'm recently on a low sugar diet, so this is interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Ive had people tell me the seeds are poisonous , i have made scrap jelly too, didnt use pectin, little thinner but delicious! But have u heard that the seeds are poisonous?
@stoneshillhomestead2569

Yes, a crushed apple seed does have cyanide in it. It would take a lot for this to affect us. However, I don’t encourage anyone to eat them. I have heard the same as you.

If you're not making apple cider first and then converting it to vinegar it is not apple cider vinegar, it is Apple scrap vinegar,different acidity and different ph.

I've watched many videos before I attempt to make this, and when apple scraps are used, they all say the pectin is naturally created, so they don't add it; is there really a difference?
@stoneshillhomestead2569

Good question!! I don’t want to chance it, so I add the pectin. You are correct it does have natural pectin. Unfortunately I have tried without and often I end up with syrup and not a solid jelly like I am looking for. Thanks for watching and for commenting! Have a blessed day!

@stoneshillhomestead2569 Seeds on plants normally contain their own pectin to set jam/jelly it is not sugar based but protein.
