I truly appreciate the Oops with the crust for 2 reasons: You didn't toss it= replace it as I would have done. Instead you gave a solution which I would not have known to do. So cool lesson. The other reason that I appreciate the Oops is that is a welcome reminder to me that those things happen even if in my case I been over 45 years

Years ago my Mom made something similar, but she simply rolled out can-biscuit dough, and added cocoa & butter, not sure what else (possibly vanilla), made them into mini pies and baked them. Delicious! It was a warm, delightful after school snack for me and my 6 siblings.

I'm diabetic, and I make these but with carb free/low carb flour, and I use canderel sweetener instead of sugar, and they come out EXACTLY the same. I make the standard recipe for my family and I have the low carb sugar free (except for the natural sugar from the apples) ones, and I have tried both, so have my family, and we all agree they are identical. I'm well on my way to reversing my diabetes, I cut out carbs and sugar, it's given me tremendous weight loss, my blood sugar no longer spikes high, and slowly I'm getting there, all by cutting out carbs and any sugar other than sugars that are natural in fruits and vegetables. My wife was prediabetic, but she started the diet with me and now the doctor told her she's no longer at risk of diabetes. I won't lie, eating keto and low carb stuff, giving up carbs, it's really horrible and hard, at least for the first 2 weeks, and you feel like absolute crap, but by week three, the cravings are gone, and your body responds and starts to feel better, then week by week, you notice things like weight loss, less depression. Not feeling as tired etc and it just gets better and better, week by week. The trick to it is, if you really want something to eat, don't deprive yourself of it, because if you keep depriving yourself what you want, eventually you will give up on the diet, so have a cake or donut or whatever. Maybe just have half the amount that you normally would. If you do that, just make sure that you have it as a rare treat. Also, find replacements for what you would normally have. For me, I like apple pies, apple turnovers, apple crumble, apple pasties etc so I found this recipe on here, and have just modified it for my diet. And it works a treat and fills the criteria when I crave any apple based dessers. I also found bread roll recipes for keto hot dog buns that also work to make bread loaf's and baguettes, outta bread, naan bread etc just by slightly modifying the original recipe. These replace my carb heavy bread needs - I wouldn't recommend buying pre made expensive keto bread, it's disgusting and heavy. It's like a brick! Don't be afraid to experiment with recipes. I would recommend going on at least low carb, if not full keto, because if you stick to it, a year down the line, you will hopefully be no longer prediabetic. You really don't want to be diabetic, it's no joke, I can no longer walk because of my diabetes. I lost a leg to it, and a toe on my other foot. I didn't even know I had diabetes, I had no symptoms, I had been tested 6 months previous and was all clear, but I had an accident playing football with my nephew, banged my foot up. Normally it would be ok, but 5 days later it was getting worse, not better, and started going black. I went up to the hospital with it, where they examined and x-rayed it. And they also did blood tests on me. They told me my foot was infected, and then asked me what meds I took for my diabetes, to which I said none, because I don't have diabetes. That's when I learned I actually had it, and it was causing my foot not to heal. Also I got COVID whilst in hospital aswell at this time (early 2020 when COVID was not long announced) so that made my body trying to heal even worse, and I lost my leg,and had to be awake for the operation. I really do not recommend anyone having to go through that. They basically said I could of had it a few months, or that the accident I had brought it on whilst my body was trying to fight the infection. So anything that you can do now, to put a stop to you getting diabetes, please do it, go down that route. I didn't get chance to because in my last diabetes check I wasn't even prediabetic. I was A1. The only reason I had a yearly check was because my Mum and Dad both had gotten diabetes, my Mum when she was roughly thesame age I was, my Dad when he was 75-ish, so I was pretty much expecting to get it at some point. I thought I would be lucky and get it around my Dad's age but nope. Now I probably won't even make it to that age, even if I do get rid of my diabetes. But I have grandkids who are 3 and 5 and 11, and I love them and want to see them at least get to leave school, so the more years I can add on the better. Recipes on KZbin help me a kit. I even learnt how to make sugar free chocolate, candy bars, cakes etc on KZbin that contain zero sugar, and mostly zero carbs. And it all tastes like the real thing. And although a lot of the keto stuff is very expensive, if you buy the ingredients in bulk, it works out a lot cheaper. My homemade chocolate costs pennies to make. I use a blend of cocoa butter, Shea butter and coconut oil to bring the cost down, but it makes excellent chocolate (I nite that Cadbury even uses that blend in some of their own chocolate) so please do as much as you can to help yourself in regards to diabetes. I'm "lucky" in a way, because I got type 2 diabetes , so there's a chance I can reverse it. If I had ended up with type 1 diabetes, there's no chance at all. I hope you can improve your diabetes status. ,I wish you luck. Also, getting back on topic, great video, very precise and clear, and the end results from making these was amazing! Thank you.

🎆 ~ Thank You, Jack, for your kind & heartfelt health lecture - packed with advice, tips, & warnings!!! ❤ ... I would luvvv to do stuff to alter my diet, like you do (I've been pre-diabetic for more than a decade, but kinda luv candy & carbs ... a lot). _I'm sooo sorry_ 😢 _about your losses._ *Your pleas have not gone unheard ... i, for one, will try to be more mindful of my diet.* One of my best friends from Junior High Scool died from diabetes after her pancreas wore out, or whatever happened to her pancreas. She was giving herself shots into her stomach from the time she was in Elementary/Grade School, & completely rebelled diet-wise her entire life; plus she drank beer (i don't drink - don't like the taste of anything like that, plus I'm highly chemical-sensitive.) Realllyyyyy wish you would start a KZbin channel for diabetes home-cooks. Your way of talking in your comm is EZ to understand - like Marie's special gift she has in teaching. Maybe that's GOD's Calling for you at this chapter of your life ... to help others, so you don't over-focus on your daily health problems. :) Myself, I surprisingly evolved into an expert research analyst the past eight years, regarding a certain topic of in-depth study to inform & help others ... sooo that's morphed into my working on a book & possibly a documentary - _i focus sooo intently on my research, that time & my own dreadful situations escape me ..._ my drug labbing neighbors' hazardous fumes make me sick every single day & night & have been badly degrading my health ... I've been forced to move five times in the past eight years - only to have _more_ criminal neighbors each time ... dirty "law enforcement" & landlords in my entire county - sadly, this is quite a corrupt county - kickbacks galore. They all finished-off my journalism career early cuz of declining health ... 😢 ... but FOCUSING ON MY RESEARCH work from home DISTRACTS ME from everything I'm subjected to & my physical suffering - it has definitely been GOD's Blessing upon me!!! 😎 *To GOD be all the GLORY!!! :)* Sprinkling ✝️ Blessings ~ 💖

🎆 ~ Rose ~ Thanks!!! I'd luvvv to reduce my sugar intake a little bit, too - how much sugar did you use? I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes about a decade ago. I luvvv your lemon idea, too - i add fresh squeezes of lemon juice to almost everything!!! I will definitely try that, too. Lemons, limes, rosemary, & lavender are natural soothing aroma therapies for me - I'm highly chemical-sensitive - i just luvvv to deeply breathe them in when cooking. Hmmm ... I'm gonna add some rosemary to the apple skillet (rosemary goes into almost everything i eat, too)!!! Hope you remember how much sugar you used.🌹 Sprinkling ✝️ Blessings ~ 💖

In Spanish culture we make something like this and call them ENPANADILLAS. We buy the ready made rounds and fill them with cooked beef or cooked chicken. Corn beef can be used too. I like cream cheese with guava paste inside. For kids cheese and sauce like making pizza. Don't use too much sauce inside or it will spill out when you fry or bake. I have never used ready made pie crust so I must try it. I love apple pies!! Thanks

Hello Zaida! Thank you so much for watching and for taking time to leave a note! I love to hear how different cultures make these types of pies. I love the idea of cooked chicken or beef, or cheese and sauce like pizza 👍🏻 Cream cheese and guava paste sounds interesting! I don’t know guava paste - it’s sweet, yes? Thanks again for watching and stay tuned for more new videos coming soon ❤️, Marie

Hi Marie! Another lovely little recipe for me to try! 😊 My significant other has been picking up apple turnovers from our local grocery store's bakery. Lots of nice flaky crusts, but we are always disappointed by the miniscule amount of filling they use...😢 This recipe looks like we can fill the crusts up to our satisfaction... No disappointment here! 😊 ❤
@marieskitchen Жыл бұрын
Hi Cheryl! These are so fun to make! Can’t wait for you to try them 😊 Yes, turnovers can be lacking in filling, or depending on the bakery, sometimes the filling is way too sweet and/or tastes like it’s from a jar. 🤪 Not this filling, though! It’s so delicious 🍏 You do have to be a little careful not to overfill them, however, as the filling can seep out the edge. So be sure to cook on a parchment-lined baking sheet for easier clean up in case of leaks 👍🏻 Hope you enjoy and thanks again for watching ❤️, Marie

❤Hi Marie.! So… yesterday, I made the apple hand pies but I made extra filling & dough, enough to fill a traditional pie plate. Only thing is I accidentally forgot to make 2 pie crusts for the big pie- I only had 1 for the bottom so that’s what I used! I cut the sugar by a lot as I was using a mix of apples including HoneyCrisp (&I didn’t have any Granny Smiths 😂) I covered the pie with aluminum foil to cook through & then removed it to brown for a few minutes. O. M. G. !!!! It was THE best pie I have EVER had!!! The crust perfectly browned & the filling was just right! Not too sweet! Divine! Just Perfect! My family prefers to add & customize sweetness instead of having overly sweetened treats. Problem is I didn’t measure anything or time anything so I don’t don’t if I could repeat this heavenly pie! We couldn’t get enough of this pie! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. Turned out to be the best open-faced pie ever!!! & funny enough--it was cold & rainy here too!

Hi Mariana! Oh my goodness I love this story! Good for you for adjusting sweetness and then making it work with one crust!! 🌟 It sounds delicious. I have an apple pie show coming up next that you won’t want to miss! Lots of fun ways to add a top crust … if you want to another time. How wonderful to welcome in a new season with a warm apple pie. 🥰 Thanks so much for watching and for taking time to leave a note - absolutely love to hear from viewers! Hugs, Marie

I love the fact that your hair is pulled back. So many of the people on KZbin that cook leave their hair loose, it drives me crazy, lol. One of the first rules I learned so many years ago, tie hair back or hair net and clean hands. Marie, something my mom taught me, to use powder sugar when whipping cream, that way the cream stays nice and smooth, no graininess to it. Works awesome, Awesome recipe, thanks so much. I do wish I could buy pie crust in the form you showed, here in Canada.
@marieskitchenАй бұрын
Hi Carleen! I’m with you 100%! Hair back, hands clean, always! I’m glad you appreciate those details 😊 Thank you for the tip on whipped cream! Definitely going to use powdered sugar next time! There’s a bit of corn starch in powdered sugar, and I’ve read that can help stabilize the whipped cream as well … so it doesn’t separate or loosen if you need to do it in advance. Thanks for watching ❤️, Marie
