Very nice!!! I owned an Apple IIe way back in the 80s, I simply LOVED that computer. Sold it in the late 80s and bought an Apple IIgs, which I still have to this day (and never, ever plan to sell). It still works as well, along with most of the software.

The pen is like a WD40 magic marker and just a little of it will do the trick as long as you cove the whole residue area.

The reason for the spacebar yellowing much more than the other keys is likely because the other keys are made of PBT plastic whereas the spacebar is ABS. PBT is more UV resistant but warps more when cooling out of injection, so the spacebars were relegated to ABS.

My first computer course was taught by the local Radio Shack dealer who used the Apple II simply because he found it was easier to teach on than the Tandy 1000! I still remember sitting for hours programming in basic. We were to write our own software program and our final grade would be based on this program. I had a 5 inch floppy with my programm on it. It ran fine on my machine but not on his. So he told me to print out my program. After the printer spit out 150 pages and wanted more paper, he asked me "How many more pages are there?". I said 'I don't know, never printed it out. He said "If you can program that many pages and have it work, you get the highest mark and can be my helper next semester." How far we have came from those days is amazing and think what the next few years may bring.

I know that smoking v non-smoking is a huge thing for these too. Plastics that were smoked around often have a yellow that is very ingrained in the plastics and even a solid surface treatment won't get all of it out and over time the yellow will return to the surface. I have no idea why, just something I noticed from when I was doing restoration on these about 10 years ago.

The reason why the space bar was discoloured and the rest of the keycaps were not is because the space bar is made of a different material. All of the keycaps other than the space bar are made of PBT (Polybutylene terephthalate). The space bar is made of ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene). The reason for this is because PBT space bars are difficult to manufacture; they shrink and warp whilst manufacturing, so they just make it out of ABS. ABS (or rather the bromine fire retardant in ABS plastics) yellows upon extended UV exposure. Hence why the space bar was yellow and the other keys were not. PBT does not yellow at all even when exposed to UV. I’m afraid that means that the retro Brite treatment you did on the keycaps didn’t actually do anything. But you did at least reverse the UV yellowing on the space bar.

I keep watching your repair videos and I love 'em :) So far I thought about two advices for you to try: 1. You were talking that you have problems with bigger parts to shine them with H2O2. Well I were you I would get myself a big plastic bag (not normal but one of those in which they sell chemical plant nutrition). Now I would fill it with H2O2+H2O, put the part in it, somehow close the bag (dont matter how) and I would put everything in the (stove? - the part where you bake pies/chicken :d) Then set the temperature around 50-70 celcius and voila! 2. For example - in this video - you are cleaning these dark spots, all by hands. If I were you I would get myself some tool with rotating end and build myself special ending for cleaning these spots. It should be a lot more easy :) Your show is great mostly because you are showing how you repair everything in details. If I must complain about something - I sometimes wonder why you aren't doing very simple repairs. In this video - Get some gum plaster, shape it as original and make some holes in it for keys. Easy move and you would not lose your PRO appereance :) In the video with robo-hand - I would make this simple, mini - plastic part with some hot glue or 3d printer instead of wasting 20$ for another RH Keep it moving, greetings from Poland :)

+Tech Deals Yeah but at what max resolution?? I assume it's from the 80's or 90's so if the camera is that old then chances are it will only shoot 240 or 480P SD. That is not the BEST quality there is.........But then again, even VHS tapes on my old 2005 1080P HD Panasonic Viera plasma TV look pretty damn good so I'm not gonna judge. On top of that, does it have any connection to computers so you can offload videos onto another hard drive?? Those old ass IBM hard drives are a bit of a pain to use because yes they are slow but it's an old hard drive camera so it may not have much in terms of ports. But I may be wrong.

I said it was 10 years old, I looked it up, it turns out it is 8 years old. :) This is the specific camera that I'm talking about. amzn.to/26FVDMN It still works perfectly, the only thing it has needed is a new battery, but those are now inexpensive from third parties. The hard drive is not removable, instead you simply plug it into a USB port and it shows up as a drive in Windows, just copy the files off.
